TrustedTM Peer to Peer Communications - T8017
Trusted provides for the interchange of safety and non-safety related information between up to ten Trusted
The Trusted modules provide Peer to Peer Communications facilities. The modules will also support external communications using Modbus over serial and Ethernet links. Using the modules to support both Peer to Peer and external communications will, however, degrade the performance of Peer to peer Communications.
The Peer to Peer network employs Ethernet as its physical layer and UDP/IP as its transport. The communications interaction is on a master/slave basis to provide deterministic behaviour. Separate Communications Interface modules may be nominated as master on each Peer to Peer network. These modules may also be resident in separate systems.
The Peer to Peer Communications network media may comprise any Ethernet standard type. The media interfaces provided by the Trusted module are 10BaseT and 100BaseT. The network may be used to carry other communications, e.g. data reporting. However, this will result in less deterministic behaviour and is not recommended where Peer to Peer Communications is to be used for the transfer of safety related information.
Each Trusted module provides two Peer to Peer Communications ports. The ports may be used to support redundant network media or independent networks. In redundant network configurations, the most recently received data will be used. An alternate network configuration may be constructed using independent modules. As with all Trusted hot-slot repair is supported.

The information to be transferred between Trusted defined within the applications programs as input and output boards in the standard form. Each output board specifies a single destination. Multiple boards are required where the data is to be transferred to multiple systems. Board parameters define the identity of the destination system for outgoing information, and source system identity for incoming. Boolean and integer values may be transferred between systems.
