Universal Transmitter (TX)
And Repeater
A Division of TRAP INTERNATIONAL C.C.

•The Universal TX has four zone inputs that can be
wired to any device\sensor N\O or N\C (electric
fence, alarm system or any other type of sensor).
•It can mimic either Roboguards or (not both)
remote TX functions; these unique codes can be
programmed into a HQ, Keypad or a single
channel receiver (Roboguard decoder panels).
•The input zone sends an intruder signal as soon as
the input state is changed (N/C to N/O or visa
versa) and will stop sending the supervisory auto
test signal if it remains in the altered state; hereby
monitoring functionality of the devices wired to it.
•Alternatively a Universal TX can be wired to a
receiver and configured to be a repeater station for
increased radio distance.
•400 meter radio range •N/O & N/C inputs
•Monitoring LED •12V operating voltage
•Individual zone and device supervision
INTRODUCTION
FEATURES

Switch 1, ON in this mode the unit will function
as a repeater station. (Indicated by slow flashing
LED in normal operation)
Switch 2, 3, and 4 will implement the
following delay between receiving and
transmitting a signal; this is important when
installing multiple repeaters and will avoid
possible signal “clashing”.
Delay: Switch 1: Switch 2: Switch 3:
2.4 SEC OFF OFF OFF
2.8 SEC OFF OFF ON
2.8 SEC OFF ON OFF
4 SEC OFF ON ON
4.8 SEC ON OFF OFF
5 SEC ON ON OFF
6.5 SEC ON ON ON
Wiring: Connect the Universal Transmitter to a
12 V power supply. Wire the 12V, ground, and
RXD of the Universal transmitter to a receiver.
SELECTING REPEATER STATION

Switch 1, OFF in this mode the unit will
function as a universal transmitter. Indicated by
fast flashing LED.
Switch 3 is used to determine whether the
Universal TX is going to be used to mimic
Roboguards or Remote TX functions.
When mimicking Roboguard signals (Switch
3 OFF) turn Switch 2 ON so that the tamper
version of the signal from a Roboguard will be
sent. This will allow you to program the
Roboguard into your appropriate decoder panel.
Tamper signals are required to programme
Roboguards into decoder panels and will be sent
when the relevant zone input is triggered.
*NB When programming is complete turn
Switch 2 off
When mimicking Remote TX signals (Switch 3
ON) keep switch 2 off and program the input
zones into remote TX zones of the decoder panel
i.e. Arm/ disarm, panic, AUX/medical. (a
Universal TX will send a signal for the appropriate
zone every time it is commend).

Switch 4
is used to programme which of the zone
input ports are to be wired
N/O
and which are to
be wired
N/C
. These ports will trigger when this
state is altered. Connect all the devices and make
sure they are in their normal state (alternatively
short comm. with the zones that are
N/C
and leave
the zones that are
N/O
disconnected).
Turn Switch 4 on and off
to programme. The
programme LED will flash the number of times on
the chart below to confirm the desired zone input
configuration.
Zone: 1 2 3 4
1 flash N/C N/C N/C N/C
2 ” N/O N/C N/C N/C
3 ” N/C N/O N/C N/C
4 ” N/O N/O N/C N/C
5 ” N/C N/C N/O N/C
6 ” N/O N/C N/O N/C
7 ” N/C N/O N/O N/C
8 ” N/O N/O N/O N/C
9 ” N/C N/C N/C N/O
10 ” N/O N/C N/C N/O
11 ” N/C N/O N/C N/O
12 ” N/O N/O N/C N/O
13 ” N/C N/C N/O N/O
14 ” N/O N/C N/O N/O
15 ” N/C N/O N/O N/O
16 ” N/O N/O N/O N/O

Wire the unused input zones to comm.
(N/C)
as
each zone input is supervised for functionality via
an auto-test signal that is sent every 20 minutes.
When an input zones state changes an intruder
signal is sent, if the input zone doesn’t return to its
programmed state the auto-test signal is cancelled
and the trouble light on the decoder panel will
indicate a non functioning unit. This will ensure
that unnecessary auto test signals are not
constantly being sent.
The universal transmitter is now be fully
functional and can now be tested by triggering the
individual devices to confirming if they are
working on the decoder panel.
The LED is used to indicate different settings and
events. In normal operation the LED will flash
slowly for a repeater and fast when configured as a
Universal TX. When the Universal transmits the
LED will flash faster for the duration of the
transmition. For a repeater the LED will go solid
when a signal is received and turns off as soon as it
re-transmits (to enable setting up repeater timing).
For optimal radio performance mount the universal
in a “high site” and if you are mounting it outside
make sure it is adequately waterproofed
(preferably put it in a non metallic waterproof
enclosure)
MUST DO’S
Tips

How do I determine the zone inputs
on an old site: The right way of doing it will
be to disconnect the input zones wiring one after
another? The N/C zones will transmit on
disconnection (LED fast burst of flashing) and the
N/O zones will do nothing as they are still N/O.
By turning switch 4 on and off the Universal
transmitter will learn the current state of the zones;
hence if a device is in the alternate (i.e. N/C switch
being in an N/O position) state the wrong
configurations re-programmed as described on
page 5.
