Before usin g the robotic base for the first time, or if you ha ve not used it for a long
time, the battery should be charged.
To do this, connect the micro USB connector (type B) to the multifunction plug or
charging port of the robotic base (see figure below), and then connect the USB end
(type A) to an USB current adapter (maximum 2A).
To visualize the charge voltage of the battery it is necessary to connect a
Smartphone to the robotic base and follow the ins tructions shown in
user-guide.theroboboproject.com
If you connect the cable incorrectly, i t could cause serious damage to the b ase.
The warranty does not cover any damage caused by misuse.
After fully charging the robotic base, disconnect it from the power supply. First
disconnect the micro USB cable from the base, and then from the electrical outlet.

Smartphone insertion in the Robobo base:
To attach the smartphone to the Robobo base holder, you must insert it softly
between the two levers of the holder, separat ing them with your fingers if necessary
(*), and slide it down until i t is fixed in its lower part.
(*) Supported dimensions are between 160x7 8x9.5 mm and 134x67x6.5 mm
approximately depending on the specific s martphone's geometry.
Switching the Robobo base on and off:
To turn the robotic base on, place it on a flat surface free of obstacles. Press the
button located on the back, as shown in t he following image:

Once the pan-tilt calibrat ion movement has been completed, the robotic base will be
ready for use.
Information on how to connect the Smartphone to the base and on how to use both
can be found at user-guide.theroboboproject.com.
Once you have finished using Robobo, remember to turn off the robotic ba se by
pressing the on/off button again. This will increase the duration of both the b attery
and the base itself.

Security information:
This sec tion contains information on securit y. In order to avoid injury to yourself and
others, or damage to the robotic base, read the safet y information before using this
product.
In case of n ot complying with these safety regulations and warnings, the user could
suffer serious injuries.
Specific Robobo warnings:
Robobo is not indicated for children under 8 years old.
It must be used under the supervision of an adult.
Choking hazard.
This device contains small parts that coul d cause asphyxia in the case of being
ingested by a ch ild. The packaging is not part of the robotic base, do not leave it within
reach of children. Keep it away from children under 3 years old .
The use of the robotic base may not be allowed in public places.
Check that its use is allowed in t he place where it will be used.
It is recommended to use Robobo indoors or in cle an and low exposed outdoor
environments.
Subjecting the robotic base to dust, sand, water, sun or other elem ents present
outdoor can damage it irreversibly.
Do not allow the robotic base to fall or subject it to strong impacts.
The base may be damaged or malfunction.
If it bend s or deforms, th e robotic base may be damaged and its p arts may
malfunction.
The use of the roboti c base to perform movements on a table or on any other raised
surface that lacks protecti ons at its edges at is edges is n ot recommended to prevent it
from falling off. In c ase it is used this way, extreme precautions should be taken so
that the robotic base cannot fall off from any of th e edges of the surface.
Any damage suffered by the Smartphone coupled to the robotic base due to
improper use will not be the responsibility of Manufactura de Ingenios
Tecnológicos S.L.
Avoid, therefore, excessive speeds, shocks and the use in heights or over irregular
surfaces that may cause falls that da mage the Smartphone.
Do not use the robotic base if it is brok en.
Take the base to Manufactura de Ingenios Tecnológicos S.L. service center for its
repair.
If you n otice that the ro botic base emits odd smells or sounds, or if you see smoke
or liqu ids coming out of the robotic base, stop using it immediately and take it to
Manufactura de Ingenios Tecnológicos S.L. service center.
If you do not do it, it could cause a fire or an explosion.
Do not disassemble, modify or repair the robot ic base.
Any change or modi fication to the robotic base m ay void the manufacturer's warranty.
If you need to repair t he robotic base and take it to a Manu factura de Ingenios
Tecnológicos S.L. official service center.
Do not disassemble or puncture the battery, this m ay cause an explosion or fire.
Electrical warnings:
Do not use damaged power cords or con nectors or loose plugs.
Unsafe connections can cause an electric shock or fire.
Do not touch the power co rd with wet hands or pull the cord to disconnect it.
Doing this may cause electrocution.
Do not bend or damage the power co rd.
Doing so could cause an electric shock or fire.
Do not use the robotic base while it is ch arging or touch it with wet hands.
Doing so could cause an electric shock.
11
Quick start guide
EN
Do not short-circuit the ro botic base.
Doing so may cause an electric shock or fire, or the battery may malfunction or
explode.
Do not use the robotic base outdoo rs during a lightning storm.
Doing so may cause an electric shock, or the robotic base may not work properly.
Do not use the r obotic base in a hospital, on an airplane or in a car that could suffer
interference caused by radiofrequency.
If possible, avoid using the robotic base at a distance of less tha n 15 cm from a
pacemaker, as it may interfere with it.
To minimize possible interference with a pacemaker, use the robotic base only on the
opposite side of the body from the position of the p acemaker.
If you use medical equipment, contact the manufacturer of the equipment before
using the robotic base, i n order to d etermine if the equipment will be affected by the
radiofrequency emitted by the robotic base.
If electronic devices are used in an airplane, they can interfere wit h electronic flight
instruments.
Do not keep the robotic base near m agnetic fields.
It may start to malfunction and th e battery may discharge.
Battery warnings:
Use batteries, cables, accessories and supplies approved by the manufacturer.
Use only b atteries approved by Manufa ctura de Ingenios Tecnológicos S.L., specifically
designed for the robotic base. Unsupported batteries and connectors can cause
serious physical injury or damage to the base.
Manufactura de Ingenios Tecnológicos S.L. is not responsib le for the user's safety in
cases where accessories or supplies that are not approved by th e brand are used.
Guarantee maximum battery life.
Avoid charging the base for more than a week, since overcharging can shorten battery
12
life.
Over time, the unused robotic base is discharged and it is necessary t o recharge it for
use.
Disconnect the robotic base from the power sources when not in u se.
Follow all instructions in thi s guide to ensure the longest possible life of the base and
battery. Damage or malfunction c aused by failure to comply with these warnings and
instructions could void the manufa cturer's warranty.
Over time, the robotic b ase can wear out. Some parts and repairs are covered by t he
warranty within the period of validity, however, dama ge or deterioration caused by
the use of non-approved accessories do not have coverage.
