How To Use This User Guide
This user guide has been designed to apply to a variety of phone models. In some instances, you will see multiple prompts referenced. You should use the option that is found on your model of phone.
Example: “Press <OK> or <Send>. Users of the Motorola Timeport should press <OK>, while other phones may use the <Send> button.
Some buttons referenced in this guide will be common to all phones. One example is the <+> sign, which is always obtained by holding down the <0> until the “+” sign appears on the display. This symbol is required when dialing internationally, and in a few other instances referred to in this guide.
For more information on all the features available to you, Roadpost recommends reading this user guide in conjunction with your phone manufacturer's user guide. All guides and related inserts are available for download at www.roadpost.com/userguides.

Getting Started
Charging Your Phone
Before you are able to use your phone, ensure that the phone’s batteries are charged. Be sure to do this before leaving for your destination. Should the batteries require charging, connect your charging cable to your handset, and insert the plug into a suitable power source.
Your SIM Card
Your SIM card (Subscriber Identity Module) is the key to your Swiss Service. This small chip contains all the information you store on your phone. Your phone comes ready-to-use, with your SIM card in place.
Use While Driving
Be sure to check local regulations before using your phone while driving. Roadpost recommends that you always use a headset while driving. For your convenience and safety, headsets are included with all rentals and subscriptions.
Emergency Services
Most countries in Europe use 112 as their emergency service number. Check with your travel agent or hotel concierge for the emergency information in the country you are traveling to.
Service Inconsistencies
While your service is based in Switzerland, you can also use your Roadpost phone in more than 150 other countries around the world. Since a variety of local networks provide this service, there may be occasional inconsistencies in coverage. While such inconsistencies are rare, Call Display, Text Messaging, Data, and Fax features may occasionally be affected.

Powering On Your Phone
Press and hold < > to turn the phone on and off.
Making Calls
When placing a call, your location determines the dialing pattern you should use. Calls to numbers in the country you are located in are local, while all other calls are considered international.
Local calls
1. Dial the number including the leading ‘0’ (the country
code is not required).
2. Press <OK> or <Send>.
Example: Calling 41 (0) 7962 555 55 a number in Switzerland, you should dial 0 7962 555 55 <OK> or <Send>
International calls
1. Press and hold <0> key until the “+” symbol appears
on the display.
2. Dial the number including the country code and press
<OK> or <Send> (the leading ‘0’ is not required).
Example: Calling 905 272 5665, a number in North America, you should dial +1 905 272 5665 <OK> or <Send>
Calling 44 (0) 7736 123 456 a number in the UK, you should dial +44 7736 123 456 <OK> or <Send>

Just like your domestic cellular service in North America, your signal will be the strongest when traveling in major cities and more densely populated areas. When traveling in rural, or more secluded areas, you may experience less consistent coverage.

Answering Calls
To answer an incoming call, press <OK> or <Send>.
Dialing Instructions For Callers To Your Roadpost Phone
To reach you, International callers dial their international access code, the country code for Switzerland (41), and your cellular number (omitting the leading ‘0’). Local callers include the leading ‘0’, and omit the country code.
Example: If your number is 41 (0) 7962 123 45, callers dial: from North America 011 41 7962 123 45, from within Switzerland 0 7962 123 45, from Europe 00 41 7962 123 45
Voicemail
General voicemail information
• Messages will be saved for 15 days. If messages are played back and not saved or deleted, they remain available for 1 day, and are then automatically deleted.
The default PIN code is 3333.
• When someone leaves you a voice message, the envelope symbol will appear.
• Please ensure that you record your PIN Code somewhere safe. If you forget your PIN Code, we are unable to reset it for you.
To retrieve messages
1. Press and hold the <Voicemail Access> button. (Alternately, you can scroll through the speed dial numbers and select "Voicemail", press <OK> or <Send>.)

2. You will hear an automated voice asking you to leave a message – to interrupt this greeting press <*>.
3. When prompted, enter your 4-digit PIN code.
4. Press <2> to listen to your messages.
5. Messages will play automatically, starting with the most recent message first.
Voicemail system prompts
While in the main menu the following prompts are available:
‘1’ Configure greeting
‘3’ Configure access
‘4’ Select language
‘5’ Activate or cancel notification

While reviewing your messages the following prompts are available:

Example: To forward calls to 905 272 5665, in North America, enter ** 21 * +1 905 272 5665 #, <OK> or <Send>
To cancel call forwarding:
Enter ## 21 # <OK> or <Send>.
Call Display
Call display is automatically enabled, allowing you to view an incoming caller's number on your cellular phone.
Note: Call display may not work when a caller has withheld their number, when the caller is using a different or international network, or when the call is placed through a company switchboard.
Text Messaging
General text messaging information
• You can send and receive text messages on your Roadpost phone.
• Up to 15 messages can be stored at a time.
• Messages are restricted to a maximum of 160 characters.
• An envelope or similar icon will appear in the display when a new text message is received.
• Attachments cannot be received.
• When your phone is off, your message will be held in the message center until your phone is switched on and in service.

Call Waiting
Call waiting alerts you when another caller is attempting to contact you when you are already on a call.
To enable call waiting:
Enter*43 #, press <OK> or <Send>.
To disable call waiting:
Enter # 43 #, press <OK> or <Send>.
To switch between the two calls:
Enter 2, press <OK> or <Send>.
Note: When roaming, call waiting prompts may vary. You may be prompted on your phone's display to use the <OK> or <Send> or alternate button, to switch between calls.
Call Forwarding
All calls are forwarded to voicemail when your phone is busy, out of the coverage area, or when a call is not answered. Use the instructions below to forward incoming calls to another cellular, or a fixed-line phone; your phone will not ring, and all calls will be diverted to this alternate number.
To set up call forwarding to a local number:
Enter **21*phone number (including leading ‘0’) <#>, press <OK> or <Send>.
Example: To forward calls to 41 (0) 7962 555 55, a local number while in Switzerland, enter ** 21 * 0 7962 555 55 #, <OK> or <Send>
To set up call forwarding to an International number:
Enter **21*phone number (including ‘+’ and country code, omit leading ‘0’) <#>, press <OK> or <Send>.

Sending Text Messages to an email address
1. Follow steps 1-5 as noted above, beginning your message with the email address you are sending it to. Be sure to leave a space between the email address, and the start of your message.
Example: johnsmith@mail.com <space> Having a great trip!
2. When prompted for the phone number, enter <555>, press <OK>.

Retrieving Text Messages
1. Press <Right Display> button to select “Messages”.
2. Scroll to “Text Messages”, press <Select>.
3. Select “Read” and scroll to read through your message.
4. Use arrows and/or follow prompts to view, delete, and save messages.
Sending Text Messages to another cellular phone
1. Press <Menu> and scroll to “Messages”, press <Select>.
2. Scroll to “Text Msgs”, press <Select>.
3. Scroll to “Create Message”, press <Select>.
4. Enter the phone number you are sending your message to, press <OK>.
Example: If the recipient’s cellular number is a local Swiss number listed as 41 (0) 7962 555 55, enter 0 7962 555 55; for 44 (0) 7736 123 456, an international number in the UK, enter +44 7736 123 456

Your text messaging address
Your cellular number is also your text messaging address. Follow standard dialing patterns when sending local and international text messages.
Example: If your cellular number is 41 (0) 7962 123 45, then your text messaging address is: +41 7962 123 45 internationally, and 0 7962 123 45 locally

Retrieving Text Messages
1. Press <Menu> and scroll to “Messages”, press <OK>.
2. Scroll to “Received Messages”, press <OK>.
3. The screen will display how many messages you have in total and how many are new.
4. Your messages will appear automatically, following a short pause. Scroll using arrows to read full message.
5. At the bottom of the screen, the display will read “View Options”, press <OK>, for all available options, including to delete or save your messages.
Sending Text Messages to another cellular phone
1. Press <Menu> and scroll to “Messages”, press <OK>.
2. Scroll to “Message Editor”, press <OK>.
3. Type your message using the keypad, press <OK>.
4. Scroll to “Send Messages”, press <OK>.
5. Scroll to “Phone Number Entry”, press <OK>.
6. Enter the phone number you are sending your message to, press <OK>.
Example: : If the recipient’s cellular number is a local Swiss number listed as 41 (0) 7962 555 55, enter 0 7962 555 55; for 44 (0) 7736 123 456, an international number in the UK, enter +44 7736 123 456

Changing Band Frequency
Your tri-band phone can be used in multiple destinations, including North America, so that you only need to take one phone when you travel.
Ensure that the phone is set to the correct band frequency for the country in which you are traveling:
Use 900/1800 for most of Europe, Asia and Africa. Use 1900 for North America, most of South America and the Caribbean.
On your Motorola Timeport
1. Press <Menu>.
2. Press the down arrow and scroll until the menu reads “Network Selection” and press <OK>.
3. Press <OK> to select “Change Band”.
4. Use the arrow buttons to select 900/1800 or 1900 and press <OK>.
5. Screen will display “Searching” and will register with the network.
On your Motorola V66
1. Press <Menu>.
2. Scroll down to “Settings”, press <Select>.
3. Scroll to “Other Settings”, press <Select>.
4. Scroll to “Network”, press <Select>.
5. Scroll to “Network Setup”, press <Select>.
6. Use <Right Display> button to change 900/1800 or 1900, press <Select> when highlighted.
5. Type your message using the keypad, press <Select> to accept letters. Press <OK> when message is complete, followed by <Done>.
6. Your display will read “Send Message Now”, press
“Yes” to send, or “No” to save.
Sending Text Messages to an email address
1. Press <Menu>, scroll to “Messages”, press <Select>.
2. Scroll to “Text Msgs”, press <Select>.
3. Scroll to “Create Message”, press <Select>.
4. When prompted for the phone number, enter <555>.
5. Enter your message beginning with the email address you are sending it to. Be sure to leave a space between the email address, and the start of your message.

Troubleshooting
Q: I cannot receive/make calls, my phone has no
signal, or my display reads “searching”. What do I
do?
A: In any of these cases, there are a number of steps that
you can perform to restore service:
1. Band Frequency selection – Use the instructions provided in this guide to ensure the band frequency is set for the country you are traveling in. Use
900/1800 for most of Europe, Asia and Africa. Use 1900 for North America, most of South America and
the Caribbean.
2. Network selection – If the cellular network you are currently on is busy, it may prevent incoming or outgoing calls. Follow these steps to manually change the network:
On your Motorola Timeport
a. Press <Menu> and scroll to “Network
Selection”, press <OK>.
b. Scroll to “Available Networks”, press <OK>.
c. Scroll through available networks and select a
network that you are not currently on, press <OK>.
d. Place a test call.
On your Motorola V66
a. Press <Menu> and scroll to “Settings” , press
<Select>.
b. Scroll to “Other Settings”, press <Select>.
c. Scroll to “Network”, press <Select>.
d. Scroll to “Available Networks”, press <Select>
Locking/Unlocking Your Phone’s Keypad
Follow the instructions below to lock your phone’s keypad to prevent accidental, or unauthorized use of your phone.
On your Motorola Timeport
To lock phone
Press the <*> and <#> buttons simultaneously.
To unlock phone
Press <*> and <#> buttons simultaneously.
(While your phone is locked, you can still answer incoming calls by pressing the <OK> button.)
On your Motorola V66
To lock phone
1. Press <Menu>.
2. Scroll to “Settings”, press <Select>.
3. Scroll to “Security”, press <Select>.
4. Scroll to “Phone Lock”, press <Select>.
5. Scroll to “Lock Now”, press <Select>.
6. Screen will prompt you to “Verify Unlock Code”,
press <1234>, press <OK>.
To unlock phone Press <1234>, press <OK>.
Q: My phone displays Locked. What do I do?
A: Locking your phone’s keypad prevents accidental, or
unauthorized use of your phone. Please refer to the instructions in this guide for locking and unlocking your phone.
Q: I am having problems with call quality. What do I
do?
A: Because cellular signals travel in straight lines, hills,
mountains, tunnels, underground parking garages, extreme weather conditions and other such interference, can affect call quality. Check the signal strength indicator on the phone display. If it is low, move to an area where the signal strength is better and try your call again.
Q: People are unable to leave me voicemail messages.
What do I do?
A: Occasionally, network upgrades may require you to
reset your voicemail feature. Follow these steps to enable voicemail once again:
1. Enter ## 002 # <OK> or <Send>.
2. Enter **61 *+ 4186079 and the last 7 digits of your cellular number # <OK> or <Send>.
3. Enter**62 *+ 4186079 and the last 7 digits of your cellular number # <OK> or <Send>.
4. Enter **67 *+ 4186079 and the last 7 digits of your cellular number # <OK> or <Send>.

3. Changing the phone’s line – Some phones may offer multiple lines for use; if your phone has multiple lines, always use “Line 1”.
On your Motorola Timeport
a. Press <Menu> and scroll to “Phone Setup”,
press <OK>.
b. Scroll to “Line 1” or “Line 2”, press <OK>.
c. Select “Line 1” if another line is currently active,
press <OK>.
d. Place a test call.
On your Motorola V66
a. Press <Menu> and scroll to “Settings”, press
<Select>.
b. Scroll to “Phone Status”, press <Select>.
c. Scroll to “Active Line”, press <Select>
d. Scroll to “Line 1”, press <Select>.
e. Place a test call.
Q: My phone displays SIM Error. What do I do?
A: If your phone displays the message “SIM Error”, check
that the SIM card is inserted correctly, and that the gold surface of the SIM chip is clean. If it still does not work, contact Roadpost Customer Care from another phone.
