MACHINE DESCRIPTION
This equipment is designed to cut off the green shoots or branches in vineyards and orchards and is definately one of the cheapest solutions for this job. In fact the range of combinations for the positioning of the cutting edge allow for easy adaptability to the dynamics of the cultivation system with a considerable reduction in working time. The cutting edge has to be fixed to the appropriate versatile support which can be done at the
manafacturer’s workplace, by the retailer or by an authorised technician in most agricultural
places. The equipment can be configured to suit the requirements of every customer. The machine runs on hydraulic motors which rotate the blades. The forementioned motors run on oil from the agricultural vehicle (in cases of insuf ficient oil, oil can be supplemented by means of a suitable unit composed of a tank with a 70 / 80 litre oil capacity, a pump and an oil filter with appropriate tubing) and operated by a unit of controls which must be placed near the drivers seat. The controls must be in an easily accessible position and above all in a way that doesn’t interfere with the driving of the vehicle.
POSSIBLE CONFIGURATIONS:

For “Casarsa” type cultivations the clipper could be equipped with a special conveyor which fitted
to the base part channels the shoots to the rotating knives or blades. For “Goujot” cultivation systems the clipper could be equipped with a Upper head attachment which can be a hydraulic inclination type by means of a hydraulic jack or manual inclination type: whose inclination must be adjusted manually before starting work. For “GDC” cultivation systems the machine can be configured with 3 indipendent cutting bars with the possibility of inclining upper and / or lower heads. The different combinations and positioning adjustments of the cutting edges allow an easy adaptation to the dynamics of the cultivation system. The clipper has knives or blades and counterblades running on one or more hyrdaulic motors depending on the configuration. The movement of oil come from the vehicles pump or from an added guage powered and controlled by means of a electric or manual controls. The optimum rotation speed is estimated at around 2000 revolutions /min. for clippers with rotating knives and at around 400 revolutions /min for blades and counterblades. For adjustments and handling of the equipment you should use control unit placed in the drivers cabin (for vehicles with closed cabins a control unit with solenoid valves and remote controls can be fitted) or at the least in a place easily reachable by the operator. The versatile support and structure which hold the various groups of cutting edge allow for horitzontal positioning, vertical positioning and inclination by means of 3 hydraulic jacks in the case of the standard machine (with 3 movement support) or with 5 jacks in the case of machines with double support (5 movement support). The versatile support is coupled to the tractor thanks to a support supplied by manufacturer, retailer of authorised technician.

USE
Users
Users are divided into two categories: Operator: a person without technical knowledge but trained to use the machine and carry out simple maintenance and adjustments. Qualified Technician: a person who works on behalf of the manufacturer and/or retailer and can carry out complex maintenance and repairs.
Before use
Before starting the machine, you should read this manual carefully. Check that everything has been installed and checked by a qualified technician.
SAFETY MEASURES
Before working
Check the stratification, the ground type to work out the method of work, the adjustment and the speed of the machine. Always check that the safeguards are well installed and that no one is in the immediate area (50mtrs minimum). Only use the machine if it is in perfect working order.
During work
Do not let anyone come within the working area; they must respect the minimum safe distance of 50 mtrs; cordon off the working area and put warning signs up if necessary. If you stop working; disconnect the power source, take out the ignition key and put on the handbrake before getting out of the tractor. Maintain an appropriate speed in order to avoid dangers to you, others and the equipment itself. When moving on inclined grounds avoid swerving which could cause sliding and overturning. On uneven grounds or those with obstacles go as slow as possible.
When using the equipment after a long time of inactivity, we advise to check the functioning of the hydraulic system. The way the equipment (when present) is used, must take into account the “equipment / vehicle” stability ratio; while working continually check the stability.
Make sure that the hydraulic system’s pipes are in tact and that the equipment is well balanced and
fixed in a stable and secure way. Carry out one step at a time operating only one lever of the control unit; remember that all control levers must be operated carefully and smoothly. During work always be alert. When stopping or stationary pay attention to the ground where you have stopped making sure there are no bumps that could compromise stability. Stop your vehicle and block the equipment in a way that it is secure and does not put you or others at risk.
Employment
When the machine is off and parked near the working area with the handbrake on, ignition ke y out
- remove the knife protections. Get back on the the tractor and start the engine, send oil to the control unit and with the en gine ticking over, verify that everything works properly through the following steps: Lift the starting safety lever of the motors. Remember that movements have to be done slowly and gradually. Check that the blades and knives work properly, that there are no strange noises or vibrations and that there are no losses from the hydraulic system. If everything is in order start moving slowly toward the rows, adjust th e height inclination and distance between the cutting edges and vegetation using the control unit levers. Start the motors and and set the ideal running speed ( depending on the kind of vehicl e used and on the job). Respect an appropriate speed always being alert and do not be distracted. If you notice someone or animal approaching, stop and send them away.
Note
The clipper is a kind of equipment whose quality of work can be seriously affected by bad maintenance or improvised adjustments. For this reason you must pay close attention to the condition of the blades and forward speed as they are closely related.
Residual Risks
Like all machines the clipper has unavoidable residual risks, so unauthorised people must not approach the machine. In order to reduce risks, REMEMBER whenever you stop working to: remove the ignition key and replace the safety devices making sure they are properly fixed.

Do not allow unauthorized people to interfere with the machine. Before carrying out checks or maintenance, verify that the machine is completel y off. Never put your fingers in the machine openings without protection. Never align holes or with your fingers but only with the appropriate centering tools. Do not touch tools without wearing the correct protective gloves. Never use petrol, solvents or other inflammable liquids as detergents but use recommended non
toxic commercial detergents to clean the machine. While using compressed air to clean and/or dry machine parts protect your eyes with goggles and limit the pressure. Keep the machine clean and in order. Replace immediately any warning or instruction adhesives, which are no longer visible or missing. Do not solder near the hydraul Pay close attention to losses from the hydraulic system; leakages from small holes can be almost invisible but are able to penetrate beneath the skin: in these cases use face and hand protection. Never carry out checks to identify leakages with bare hands.
Every 8 to 10 hours of work Lubrication: we recommend cleaning the grease guns before carrying out the following:
The lubrication points are indicated on the machine by adhesives.
Check the state of the tools; check they are not broken if there are an y breakage replace immediately, using the appropriate
gloves for the job.
We recommend using the supplier’s replacement parts available from our company or authorized
retailers. Check the legibility of all adhesives and of the nameplates and, if need be, replace them with new ones. Periodically Check the structure. Remember that it is strictly forbidden to make holes or modify the structure.
Maintaining the machine in a perfect condition means it has a longer life expectancy and retains optimum performance; thus regular small checks are necessary. This allows for a perfect working order and good reliability.
Safety Measures
-flammable and non-
ic tubes in order to prevent fires.
CLEANING
Wash only with neutral products and water to remove traces of corrosive fluids; dry carefully making sure there are no pockets of water. If traces of dirt remain, we recommend using specific products following the instructions carefully. WARNING: DO NOT USE products containing perfumed solvents, meth anol or h ydrocarbons to clean painted parts.
HYDRAULIC SYSTEM
Control regularly all the tubes of the hydraulic system are fitted properly and there are no leakages; verify that tubes are intact.
Always take the necessary action, whether by repairing or replacing, every tube which is loose or
The hydraulic circuits are under pressure and therefore, before addin g or removing hydraulic oil, inspect the circuit, place the equipment on the ground and completel y discharge the remaining pressure in the system, operating the control lever several times, having first switched off the tractor motor.
The hydraulic oil in the system is hot, even when use is no longer being made of
the machine. wait for the oil to cool down before carrying out any work on hydraulic lines
The jet of oil which small losses from the tubes under pressure can generate is dangerous: it can pierce the skin or damage the eyes. Always wear thick gloves and safety goggles.
Remember that disposal and law regulates collection of used oil. Take the aforementioned residues to the appropriate disposal center or keep them in tanks and call specialized companies to dispose of them.
It’s absolutely forbidden to take them to illegal dumps or to dump them in rivers or
sewers.
which shows signs of abrasion, tear, defective mounting, or oil loss even from the connections. Check the connections and ensure that they have been properly joined in relation to each other before pressurising the hydraulic circuits. Avoid bending, or scratching tubes of the hydraulic system with sharp or abrasive objects. Replace tubes which show any signs of damage caused by crushing, cracking, use, or with defective connections and avoid using them again. They could explode during use.
.
To avoid damage, always use the same oil. The standard machine can work with the mineral oil of the tractor, like Mobil Multivariax/35 HP with viscosity grade ISO VG 68, with the following limitations.
HYDRAULIC SYSTEM MAINTENANCE If the machine has got an hydraulic kit, we are used to employ an hydraulic oil such as Mobil DTE 25 with viscosity 46 and a working duration of 5.000 hours in constant conditions, with hydraulic oil level at 3/4 of the tank capacity. Variable working conditions, such as :variation in effort, heating/cooling of the daily temperature,(with the consequent creation of condensation and pollution )decrease the working duration that we can evaluate in about 1200/1500 hours of work. During this period you have to check periodically the oil level in the tank and if necessary fill it up with oil which has the same viscosity. When the oil has been completely replaced, we suggest to replace the fil ters at the inner of the tank too.
MAINTENENCE PROGRAM Every 8 to 10 hours of work
Lubrication: we recommend cleaning the grease guns before carrying out the following: The lubrication points are indicated on the machine by adhesives. Check the state of the tools; check they are not broken if there are any breakage replace immediately, using the appropriate gloves for the job.

- When the machine is used with the DRF-V head, avoid going out of alignment caused by its own
weight. This could happen when letting the screw slide inside the hole of the frame’s fast joint
exceeding the resistance of the spring: insert into the hole of the frame’s fast joint the safety
blocking and place the safety tongues in a blocking position. Remove it when going back to using the cutting bar again.
TRANSPORT – HOISTING - MOVEMENT
When transporting the machine be careful to block it with ropes, straps or anything suitable to keep the machine stable and safe and to prevent accidental shifting that could cause injury or damage the machine. If the machine has to be hoisted it must be hooked to the proper hoisting instruments by means of ropes or suitable equipment to secure its integrity. Before hoisting make sure that hoisting means are suitable in that they have a higher weight capacity than the weight of the equipment. The hoisting equipment must be adequate and comply with safet y standards in effect at the time governing these operations. Verify that the instruments used are in sound condition and not worn or unsafe in anyway and above all the joints and connections are robust, in good condition and can bear the estimated burden. Remember that it is absolutely forbidden to remain under or in the immediate vicinity of the object whilst it is being hoisted. Always use thick protective gloves when carrying out these operations. The points on the machine which are safe to attach the hoisting hooks to are indicated so by means of appropriate adhesives.
UNINSTALLATION OF MACHINE
Dismount the machine from the tractor and be careful to clean it well. Park the vehicle on a level surface and in a safe stable way. Store away from atmospheric agents (inside) and out of the reach of children.
DESTRUCTION AND DISPOSAL OF MACHINE
If you decide to destroy and dispose of the machine it’s recommended to render it inoperative by
cutting the tubing, disassembling knives and breaking the hydraulic motor. Also remove identification nameplate of the machine.
