Quick Guide
Thank you for choosing a RIEDEL product.
This Quick guide helps you to connect the CONNECT Solo to an Artist System.
For further information please read the CONNECT Solo Hardware/Software Manual and the DIRECTOR Software Manual.
Safety Instructions
- Do not cover the holes in the top of the codec.
- Do not use faulty power supplies or damaged power cables.
Mounting
The codec can be used as a desk top device or mounted in a 19” frame. In the last case assemble the 19” rack mount kit for the codec (or the optional available 19” kit for two codes in 1 RU) with the codec. Make sure that all screws are well tightened.

Necessary connections
- Connect your telephone cable to the LINE/POTS port.
- Connect the Artist mainframe via a CAT5 card with the cable shown in appendix A. OR
- Connect the Artist Mainframe via an analogue audio card (AIO 108/109) with the cable shown in appendix B. In this application the audio interface of the codec has to be set to analogue.
- Ensure that the power supply matches the regional supply network system. Connect the power supply to the power supply Input.
- Connect the earthing screw with an appropriate earth point.
- Connect the power supply to mains.
NOTICE Analogue connection to the Artist requires additional GPIO to TTL/Relay cable in order to dial from the intercom
system. Using the analogue connection in conjunction with a GPI cable allows dialing from the Artist. In this case the telephone number has to be stored in the codec previously.
Settings for operation with an Artist System (Mainframe Position)
Audio mode / Auto answer
- Press the soft key MENU and use the cursor keys and to select OPERATION SETTINGS. Conrm with SELECT.
- Select POTS and then AUTO ANSWER, enable it with SELECT. Conrm with .
- Press BACK to get back to OPERATING SETTINGS and once more back to get to the SETTINGS menu.
Digital AES/EBU Audio interface:
- Use the cursor keys to select SYSTEM SETTINGS. Conrm with SELECT.
- Select AUDIO and set AUDIOINTEFACE IN to DIGITAL and AUDIOINTERFACE OUT to DIGITAL (by pressing SELECT) and conrm with .
- Remain in AUDIO SETTINGS and set the AES/EBU CLOCK SOURCE to RECOVERED, press SELECT and conrm with .
- Press button to get back to the main menu. You will now be asked whether you want to save settings. Press the
YES softkey to store the new settings permanently.
Analogue AIO Audio interface
- Press the soft key MENU and use the cursor keys and to select SYSTEM SETTINGS. Conrm with SELECT.
- Select AUDIO and set AUDIOINTEFACE IN to ANALOGUE and AUDIOINTERFACE OUT to ANALOGUE (by pressing SELECT) and conrm with .
- Press button to get back to the main menu. You will now be asked whether you want to save settings. Press the
YES softkey to store the new settings permanently.
