Dodge 1 ton AirBar installation
1. Raise and support rear of truck at a comfortable and safe working height. Support truck with jackstands under the frame slightly ahead of the front leafspring hangars. You will need another set of stands to support the axle housing.
2. Remove the passenger side leafspring assembly. By installing one side of the AirBar at a time, you won’t have to chase the axle housing all over the shop!
3. Remove the overload leaf contact bracket from the framerail. The upper Airbar bracket will bolt on in its place. You may have to drill additional holes to complete the installation of this bracket.
.
4. Install the upper and lower axle bracket assemblies onto the axle housing. Note that there is a difference between the drivers side and the passenger side lower axle brackets. When installed properly, the lower axle brackets will place the airspring inboard slightly. The upper axle brackets are the same from side to side.
5. Install the upper and lower bars into their respective mounts. Make sure that the bars are EXACTLY the same length from side to side. Note that the front of the lower bar will reuse the oem leafspring through bolt.
6. Repeat assembly procedure for the drivers side
7. After all of the bars are installed, jack the axle housing up to highway ride height. This will be approx. 4” from the axle tube to the bottom of the framerail. At this time you will also need to trim the oem bumpstop to approx. 1” tall or install an aftermarket bumpstop.
8. Make sure the axle housing is centered in relation to the framerails. The easiest way to accomplish this is to equalize the measurement from the wheel mounting hub to the framerail.
9. Install the upper airspring mounts onto the framerail. The upper airspring mount will be DIRECTLY above the lower airspring mount at a distance of approx. 10.5”. Make sure the axle housing is still at highway ride height. This should place the upper airspring mount level with the bottom of the framerail.
10. When mounting the driver side upper airspring bracket, note that the panhard bar frame mounting bracket will share the same mounting holes. Be sure to install this mount before tightening these mounting bolts.
11. Install the panhard bar axle bracket onto the axle housing centersection. Be sure to use the longer bolts provided in our kit.
12. Install the panhard bar. Make sure the axle housing is centered in relation to the framerails. Adjust the threaded ends to fit.
13. Install the airsprings, lines and fittings. Inflate to approx. 25spi for an unloaded truck. This pressure may be adjusted up or down to suit a particular installation.
