Installation Instructions
*******Must use RideTech rear shock kit*******
1. Raise the vehicle to a safe and comfortable working height.
2. Support the axle and remove the leaf springs, shock absorbers, factory bump stops and
front leaf spring hanger.
3. The rear leaf spring shackle and hanger may also be removed but is not necessary.
4. The exhaust tail pipe & mounts will also have to be removed from the rear of the muffler back. A turn down can be installed or a custom tail pipe can be made.
5. This tab on the front driver side of the charcoal canister must be removed for clearance.
6. Passenger side corner of the canister must also be trimmed at a 45 degree angle.
7. The spacer between the carrier bearing and the cross member must be removed to correct pinion angle. The factory bump stop bolts and a 3/8” washer can be used to remount the carrier bearing.
8. Bolt the upper air spring/shock mount to the frame. Using the bracket as a template drill the holes in the frame with a 5/16” bit. Fasten the plate to the frame using 3/8” x 1” self tapping bolts.
9. The two large holes in the back of the bracket are for trucks with a factory hitch. If your truck does not have a hitch the holes can be left empty.
10. Bolt the lower bridge to the factory leaf spring hanger using 5/8” x 8” bolts, Nylok nuts and flat washers. The upper bar mount will be on top of the axle.
11. The brake line on the driver side must be bent in to clear the panhard bar. The brake line frame mount must be relocated to the bed brace.
12. Bolt the upper bar mount to the factory upper shock mount using four 7/16” x 1 ¼” bolts, Nylok jam nuts and flat washers.
13. Bolt the large end of the lower bar (longer one) to the factory leaf spring hanger using the factory hardware. Bolt the other end to the lower bridge using a 5/8” x 2 ¾” bolt and Nylok jam nut.
14. The upper bar will bolt in using 5/8” x 2 ¾” bolt and Nylok nuts.
15. Bolt the panhard bar axle bracket to the axle using three 5/16” x 1” bolts, lock washers and flat washers.
16. Bolt the panhard bar to the axle and frame brackets using 5/8” x 2 ¾” bolts and Nylok jam nuts. The bend in the bar will go toward the axle mount and point up.
Note: Tighten all 4 link and panhard bar bolts with the suspension at ride height. Ride height will be with the air spring at about 10.5” tall.
17. Bolt the new shorter bump stop to the frame using a 3/8” Nylok nut and flat washer.
18. Bolt the shock absorber to the upper mount using the bushing and hardware kit supplied. A ½” x 2 ½” bolt and Nylok nut will secure the shock to the lower bridge.
19. Apply thread sealant to the air fitting and screw it into the top of the air spring.
20. Bolt the air spring to upper mount using a 3/8” x 1” bolt, lock washer and flat washer.
21. Place the lower air spring plate on top of the lower bridge. Fasten the air spring to the bridge using a 3/8” x 1” bolt, lock washer and flat washer. Do not allow the air spring to rub on anything. This will damage the unit and is not warrantable situation
22. Ride height on this air spring is around 10.5” tall, around 30 psi. This may vary to driver preference and vehicle weight.
