Features of the RICOH-SCRIPT2

❖❖❖❖
What is RICOH-SCRIPT2?
RICOH-SCRIPT2 is an interpreter, developed independently by RICOH COMPANY, LTD., based on PostScript Level 2 developed by Adobe Systems Incorporated. RICOH-SCRIPT2 is a printer language optimized for printers for reproducing images on paper. Installing the RICOH-SCRIPT2 provides your printer with PostScript capabilities. RICOH-SCRIPT2 supports PostScript Level 2, which means that it can be used for printing in the Windows, or Macintosh environment. RICOH-SCRIPT2 prints text, graphics, images, and just about any other type of complex data.
Interpreter
----
An interpreter is software that analyzes PostScript data and converts it to printable data. RICOH-SCRIPT2 converts PostScript data into data that can be printed by your printer.

PPD (PostScript Printer Description) files
Windows 95/98/NT4.0 You can use the Windows 95/98/NT4.0 printer drivers that come with your operating system. However, if you use these drivers without the PPD files unique for this printer, you will lose some functions specific for this printer. Specific functions can be used by installing the PPD file to your operating system.
Macintosh You can use the Macintosh LaserWriter 8 driver that comes with your operating system. However, if you use these drivers without the PPD files unique for this printer, you will lose some functions specific for this printer. Specific functions can be used by installing the PPD file to your operating system.
❖❖❖❖
Monochrome/Color printing
RICOH-SCRIPT2 supports monochrome and full color printing.
❖❖❖❖
Image printing modes
RICOH-SCRIPT2 supports two different image printing modes. One is suitable for printing photographs, and the other for text.
❖❖❖❖
Built-in color profiles
RICOH-SCRIPT2 comes with three color profiles (Photograph, Presentation, and Solid Color). Color profiles are used to maximize color printing ability. With the Macintosh, you can also use the ColorSync™ profile data to reproduce the characteristics of color data used in the document for printing.
1
Note
The optional network interface board is required for printing from the Macintosh.
