Features guide - Workgroup

Paper Handling
Duplex units - allow printing on both sides of the page, thereby reducing your paper costs. Please note: a 250-

or 500-sheet Duplex Unit does not hold 250 or 500 sheets of paper. Instead a

base input capacity of 250 sheets (the InfoPrint 1532), while a "500-Sheet" unit fits a printer with a base
input of 500 sheets (1552/1572).

Printer Furniture – a range of items such as printer stands, shelves to help you manage your printer’s
environment

Connectivity
Serial interface card - This feature provides a serial interface port for printers that don't have a standard serial

interface.
Parallel 1284-B interface card - This feature provides an IEEE 1284-B parallel interface port for printers that

don't have a standard serial interface. It has a type B parallel connector

Datastreams
Decryption card - The Decryption option allows an equipped printer to receive and decrypt print jobs that have

been encrypted using the decryption software on compatible client operating systems. Decryption supports AES
encryption using key and block lengths of 128, 192, and 256 bits, providing robust security for sensitive
documents. Decryption also supports the use of Session or dynamic encryption keys, which greatly reduces
management overhead. Session keys are automatically and randomly generated with each print job, ensuring that
a unique key is applied to each print job.

Card for IPDS and SCS/TNe - The Card for IPDS and SCS/TNe provides AFP/IPDS and SCS (LU1) data stream

support for IBM servers. The Card for IPDS and SCS/TNe allows customers to print AFP/IPDS or SCS (LU1)
documents over TCP/IP to LAN printers.

Image Quick - Provides a direct printing solution that enables you to streamline procedures and simplify technical
support and management, resulting in improved productivity and reduced document printing costs. This card
enables the direct printing of PDF files, TIFF, GIF, JPEG, PNG, BMP, PCX, DCX, HTML files or URLs referencing
PDF or HTML files quickly and easily without using a driver.

Bar Code card - Enables IPS laser printers to print more than forty seven of the most popular industry-standard
bar codes, including Datamatrix, QR Code, Aztec, microPDF417, PLANET, Codablock F, TF14, and HIBC128.
The bar code card generates bar codes algorithmically for improved readability.

The Bar Code Card emulates HP printers with an HP BarCodes & More font solution, JetCAPS BarDIMM, or
JetCAPS BarSIMM (v.2.0b). The Bar Code Card cannot be used in conjunction with the Card for IPDS and
SCS/TNe or the Decryption Card.

Features Guide – Industrial printers

Paper handling
Input Paper Shelf (#4891, 4991) for 6500 - This shelf is designed to hold a box of paper or forms to be used with

a pedestal printer. It allows the input media to move easily with the machine. The shelf rests on the supports for
the pedestal printer.

Pullout Rear Paper Tray (#4540, 4541) for 6500 - An optional Pullout Paper Tray is now available for the cabinet
models. This feature provides a convenient tray that pulls out after printed output is stacked on the tray, instead of
on the floor. It is easier to remove the printed output from the tray than from the floor inside the printer. The tray is
similar to the one used with the Power Stacker feature.

Connectivity
Telnet 3270e/5250e - allows printing currently being performed with coax/twinax attached printers to be migrated

easily to network attached printers, without changing the existing application.
IPDS - allows print pages containing an unlimited mix of different types of data: high-quality text, images, vector

graphics, and bar codes.
Network Print Server and IPDS LAN Attachment Capability for 4247 - provide the capability for both LAN

support and twinax, coax, or serial support on the same IPS 4247 Printer.
IGP for 6500 - The Intelligent Graphics Processor (IGP) feature is a simple to use programming language for

creating sophisticated graphics, including bar codes, in printers equipped with the IGP board. IGP (also sometimes
called PGL) creates online forms and bar codes, and has a variety of alphanumeric text-generation capabilities.

Code V for 6500- The Code V feature is the QMS(TM)-compatible Intelligent Graphics Processor software
designated for the IPS 64XX family of impact line matrix printers. Code V emulates the QMS Code V Version II
programming language to produce online forms and bar code, and supports many alphanumeric text-generation
capabilities.

Black Back Forms Sensor (#4640, 4641) for 6500 - This feature provides a forms sensor that is capable of
detecting the end-of-forms (EOF) condition for black-backed forms. It may also be used to run forms with binder
holes in the body of the form. Because of the variation in the size of binder holes, testing is recommended to verify
that the sensor accommodates the size of the binder holes correctly.

RFID (#4950, 4951) for 6700 - includes a reader, antenna and associated components to enable programming
(encoding) and reading of RFID tags. RFID can be installed on the Model R40 or M40 in either the factory or in
the field.

Supports Class 1 Generation 2 Tag Types

On-Line Data Validator (#5610, #5611) for 6700 - an external device that attaches near the paper exit of the
printer. It scans the printed output for bar codes and monitors bar code quality. This feature is not applicable to
RFID. After a bar code passes the scan beam, the validator grades it and sends a report back to the printer. The
printer response is determined by the validator settings. A 1/2-inch distance between bar codes is required when
the validator is used. The validator feature only applies to picket fence (vertical) bar codes. The validator cannot
be used to verify ladder (horizontal) bar codes.

Media Cutter and Tray (#7340, #7360, #7380, #7341, #7361, #7381) for 6700 - automatically cuts media after
each label is printed or via a software command to cut media after a specified number of labels are printed.

PXML for 6700 - PXML is an XML-based printer connectivity and control capability that allows third parties to
control and monitor print jobs and printer status. Developed with open XML standards, PXML allows RFID and
device-management software to interface easily with the InfoPrint 6700.

Supplies for 4247 - this customer-replaceable cartridge ribbon supports general-purpose printing as well as

automatic identification printing for visible light scanning.

Supplies for 6700 - A wide range of IPS ribbons that have been specifically engineered to enhance the printing
capabilities and to prevent premature printhead wear are available for the InfoPrint 6700 printers.

It is recommended that genuine IPS Thermal Ribbons are used with the InfoPrint 6700 printers.

• InfoPrint 6700 TTW Thermal Transfer Ribbons - This ribbon provides superior print quality on coated
and uncoated thermal transfer paper, labels, and tags. InfoPrint 6700 TTW ribbons are an excellent
choice for general-purpose applications.

• InfoPrint 6700 TTR Thermal Transfer Ribbons - This ribbon is designed for use with high-end
synthetic labels. It provides the highest heat, chemical, and abrasion resistance for label toughness and
durability.
