Ricoh s innovative Retracting LENS System.
How did we fit a powerful 4.8x (28mm-135mm) opt ical zoom l ens
inside a 25mm slim camera? With our ingenious Retracting LENS
System, which swings part of the lens group like a pendulum inside the camera when the lens retracts. As a result, the Caplio R1V
is about 26% slimmer than cameras with conventional lens systems.
To maximize the image capturing power of the 5.0-megapixel CCD,
four highly refractive, low-dispersion glass lenses are incorporated.
5-step zoom for instant zoom selection.
Switch on the step zoom function and you can quickly zoom to any
of the five preset optical focal lengths: 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm
or 135mm.

Slim, compact and packed with leading-edge technology.
Broaden yo ur horizons with a wide-angle 28mm view.
Ricoh was a pioneer in bringing wide-angle photography to the Caplio
series. Our newest Caplio features a wide-angle 28mm view, expanding your perspective far beyo n d that of c om mo n 35mm digital cameras.
So you can capture m ore even when you have less room to w ork with.
Even shop roofs and sky are visible in this wide-angle shot.

Introducing Ricohs Smooth Imaging Engine image
processing system. The brain of a more highly evolved
camera.
Images captured from a wide-angle lens are expansive, requiring the
CCD to handle greater amounts of information. To process the information rapidly, the Caplio R1V incorporates Ricoh’s Smooth Imaging
Engine image processing system, which feat ures 12-bit image processing and filtering processing to produce images with natural gradation and very low noise. Our color management software matches the
CCD’s spectral sensitivity, optimizing color reproduction. For natural
images with t r ue colors, t he Caplio R1V simply is more advanced.
The energy-wise Caplio R1V takes around 490 pictures on a rechargeable battery.
You get high performance using less energy with the Caplio
R1V. Using the camera’s rechargeable battery, you can take
about 490 pictures between charges. AA alkaline batteries,
which offer a great back-up plan when you’re on vacation or
working, give you around 200 shots . Plus, you can run th e
camera from its AC adaptor. So, altogether the Caplio R1V
offers three easy and efficient power-up options. To conserve

battery power, the synchro monitor mode automatically
switches off the LCD display when the camera is not in
operation. The LCD display powers up again when you
push the shutter button half down. The Caplio R1V—t he

Shutter release lag time of 0.05 seconds
for instant response.
A perfect moment disappears in the blink of
the eye. To capture it, you need a camera
like the Caplio R1V that responds instantly.
Switch on the power: You’re ready to shoot
in approximately 0.8 seconds . Snap your
picture: Shutter release time lag is as little
as 0.05 seconds (even faster is the approximately 0.003 second shutter response time
from focus lock, which is engaged when you
press the shutter button halfway). Ready
for your next shot? The Caplio R1V resets
in about one second. So you won’t miss the
moment.

Designed to accompany you
every where you go.
Like a credit card, the Caplio R1V is around 100mm wide and 55mm
tall. Just 25mm thin, it slips easily into your pocket or handbag.
Carry it with you every day and discover a world of photo opportunities.
Six scene modes match various situations.
Six scene modes are displayed as icons on the LCD monitor for easy
access. Just choose the right mode for your scene and start shooting.

Three continuous shooting modes:
Continuous, S-continuous, and M-continuous.
To photograph a moving subject, use regular continuous mode and the
Caplio R1V will fire continuously for as long as you press down the shutter button. In S-continuous mode, one press of the shutter button fires
16 shots in 2.2 seconds and stores them in a single file. And M-continuous mode memorizes the last 16 shots in a 2.2-second file. These two
modes are handy for capturing various kinds of contin u o us m otion situations. Use them to analyze your tennis or golf swing, or capt ure a
baby or pet playing.

Other modes include

Text for shooting all kinds of printed text

With the 16 shots captured in M-continuous and S-continuous modes, you
can display any frame individually or play back all images continuously as
an animation on the LCD monitor or on your television with the AV cable.

With its 1cm macro, the Caplio difference shows up
in the details.
The Caplio R1v’s macro photography function lets you shoot as close
as 1cm from your subject. You can
also set the zoom at maximum focal
length and shoot in telemacro mode
from as close as 13cm away. From
15cm away, flash power will automatically adjust to prevent any unwanted whiteout effects. So you
can get amazing perspectives on
flowers and jewelry, as well as insects and other tiny life forms.

Other Caplio R1V features.
Shoot video with sound until the SD Memory Card is full.
The Caplio R1V shoot s low-noise video (AVI, 30 frame/sec.) continuously for as long as space
is available onthe SD Memory Card. Digital zoom lets you get close to the action and sound is
recorded in real-time. And the camera can function as a voice recorder for meetings and interviews.
Auto bracket shoots 3 different exposure levels.
With auto bracket, you press the shutter once and get three shots at three different exposure levels. When you’re shooting in complicated exposure conditions, this feature
triples your chance of getting the perfect shot.
White balance bracket for shooting in various light sources.
White balance bracket helps to ensure accurate color reproduction for the specific light
source. Settings include auto, daylight, overcast, tungsten light and fluorescent light.
Record the date and time with any picture.
You can record the date (year/month/day) or date and time (year/month/day, hour/minute)
in the right bottom corner of any still image.
AF Target Selection enhances macro photography.
With AF Target Selection, you can fix the camera on a tripod and
shift the focus point using buttons. This feature enhances your
ability to create dynamic macro compositions and attractive
blurring.
AF Target Selec tion f eatures four direction buttons — — that enable you
to shift and find the best focus point without moving the camera.
