To improve the reliability and durability of the gears on the main motor, the
material of the gears has been changed. Also, two spacers have been
installed as shown.

To facilitate service, the main motor gear set (#A0179513), which is
composed of the following parts, is registered as a spare part instead of the
old gears.

DETAILS OF MODIFICATION

In order to add settings of the development bias voltage for toner density detection, the program of the ROM has been changed as
follows:

When JP101 on the main board is cut after the new ROM is installed;

1. The development bias voltage for toner density detection depends on the Dip switch positions as follows:

DPS 102-1 DPS 102-2 Development Bias Voltage for toner density detection

JP101 short circuit JP101 open circuit (cut)

OFF OFF 420 volts 400 volts

ON OFF 470 volts 420 volts

OFF ON 520 volts 470 volts

ON ON 550 volts 520 volts

2. Toner supply clutch ON time is decreased to 5/8 of the previous " ON " time.

3. The image density sensor checks the density of the sensor pattern image once every 10 copy cycle s. When the image density is
too low, the CPU activates the toner supply clutch to add a selected amount of toner over the next 1 0 copy cycles. After this, the
image density sensor checks the pattern again and if it is still too low, the machine continues to s upply the extra toner. After 10
more copies, The sensor checks the pattern a 3rd time, but toner supply is stopped whether the patte rn is too low or not. 20
copies is the maximum number allowed in this condition.
