Advanced Fax Capabilities
The Ricoh FAX3900 Series provides cutting-edge fax features
to make your business more productive and profitable:
Super G3 33.6 Kbps modem with JBIG Compression
ensures a fast, cost-cutting 3-pages-per-minute transmission speed—twice as fast as conventional fax modems!
The 50-sheet Automatic Document Feeder and 2-second per page* scan speed
make scanning and storing multi-page outgoing faxes into memory easy.
In addition to the standard 2 MB memory capacity (160 pages), you can also add
an optional 2 MB or 4 MB memory card to expand the document memory up to a maximum of 480 pages for uninterrupted performance.
The FAX3900L/3900NF systems’ fast 10-ppm printer engine ensures that high-volume
document processing runs smoothly and quickly, and that all of your outputs have a crisp and professional look.
Quick Memory Transmission begins once the first page is scanned into memory
and a connection is made. Additional pages are continually scanned during the transmission process, making for super-fast faxing.
• Full Dual Access enhances productivity by allowing you to do multiple tasks
simultaneously such as scanning a document into memory while transmitting or receiving another document.
The standard paper supply, 250 sheets for the FAX3900L and 750 sheets for the
FAX3900NF, meets the most demanding environments and can be expanded to a total capacity of 850 sheets of either letter or legal sizes. For those occasional times when the paper may run out, documents are stored automatically into memory and printed when paper is replenished, so you never miss an incoming fax!
ISDN Digital Fax Option provides 64 Kbps transmissions and a speed of 1.5 seconds
per page! Plus, you’ll gain a suite of reliable digital fax capabilities such as 99%
error-free communications, consistent transmission speeds, image quality and secure communications.

FAX3900L PSTN DIAL-UP (PDU) INTERNET FAX
By adding the PSTN Dial-Up (PDU) Option, users can have Internet Fax capabilities. The PDU allows for direct dial-up through a normal phone line to a designated Internet Service Provider (ISP). Then e-mail messages are easily sent through the Internet.

FAX3900NF NETWORK INTERNET FAX
The FAX3900NF provides Internet Fax and network connectivity right out of the box. There are no options to install or software to provide. In addition to Internet Faxing, the FAX3900NF provides powerful network features designed to allow large workgroups to streamline communications, improve document workflow and reduce costs.
Whether in a network or standalone environment, the Ricoh FAX3900 Series offers Internet Fax capabilities to meet your needs. Fax documents that are traditionally sent over PSTN lines can now be easily sent over the Internet as e-mail, eliminating all long distance or international costs. Document management is also improved by allowing you to archive, forward, save or print the document, just like a normal e-mail. Only Ricoh lets you choose the model that is right for your communication environment:
Ricoh’s third generation Internet Fax provides new enhanced features to further increase your efficiency:
• Delivery Confirmation – When an e-mail is sent with a confirmation request, a confirmation message is automatically
returned to the sender upon opening the document. This message can be listed on the journal or on the sender’s display.
2
• Programmable Subject – When sending a document via Ricoh’s Internet Fax, the subject of the document can be typed
in directly from the keyboard allowing the receiver to immediately identify the subject of the e-mail before opening it.
STANDARD FAX3900NF NETWORKING FEATURES
• LAN (Local Area Network) Faxing – Allows multi-user
workgroups on a network to increase productivity by easily faxing documents from their desktop to any G3 fax. Ricoh’s easy-to-use LAN Fax Driver allows any PC on the network to LAN Fax, saving time and reducing costs.
• Inbound Fax Routing – All incoming faxes can be
conveniently routed directly to an individual’s PC.
• Network Scanning – The FAX3900NF functions as a network
scanner with scan–to–e-mail capabilities for easy document distribution or archival.
• Automatic Document Back-Up – The FAX3900NF can be
programmed to automatically back-up all incoming and outgoing faxes, Internet Faxes and LAN Faxes for easy archival of all communications.
• NIC FAX Monitor Software – Allows you to program e-mail
addresses and fax numbers in quick, speed and group dials directly from your PC.
• IC Viewer Software – Can display, edit and save Internet Fax
documents right from your PC.

Faxing Made Simple
The FAX3900 Series has been specifically designed so that anyone can just step up and start working. These user-friendly systems boast many easy-to-operate features such as:
The newly designed Control Panel, with dedicated keys for
advanced functions and its easy-to-read 2-line Back-Lit LCD Display with upper and lower case letters, allows you to quickly navigate and program your desired tasks and check the status of all your transmissions.
A handy Status Indicator provides operational status
from a distance. A green light flashes during transmission and reception. A red light flashes when the toner, paper supply, or communication error requires immediate attention.
When Security and Confidentiality Count
The FAX3900 Series provides you with advanced security features that ensure your documents are received confidentially:
The Restricted Access feature requires that the user first
enters an authorization code to prevent unauthorized people from using the FAX3900 Series.
Memory Lock automatically stores incoming faxes into
memory so no one can read your confidential messages. Just enter in your ID code and the documents are printed for your eyes only.
The Intuitive Keyboard is in a QWERTY format, meaning
it is configured like a PC keyboard allowing you to easily input e-mail addresses, destination labels, fax headers and names. Or if you prefer, the keyboard can be quickly changed to the traditional ABCD format.
The dedicated Help Key
prints out basic instructions for the most frequently used features providing quick, on-the-spot convenience. This feature eliminates a time-consuming search through the Operator’s Manual.
Reverse Order Printing prints documents face down, so
they are received confidentially and are in numeric order for quick and immediate distribution.
An All-in-One Cartridge System provides long life
(Yield: 4,500 pages at 4%*), seamless operation and easy maintenance. Plus, it eliminates the need for buying, storing and replacing separate consumables.
