Downfl ow Adaptor
INTRODUCTION
The downfl ow adaptor kit is designed to support the indoor coil of our air handler in a downfl ow installation.
NOTE: This kit must be installed before the air handler is mounted in the downfl ow confi guration.
These instructions are primarily intended to assist qualifi ed individuals experienced in the proper installation of this
appliance. Some local codes require licensed installation/service personnel for this type of equipment. Read all
instructions carefully before starting the installation.
INSTALLATION SEQUENCE
WARNING:
To avoid risk of electrical shock, personal injury, or death, disconnect electrical power to
the unit before performing any maintenance
or service. The unit may have more than one
electric power supply.
NOTE: For A cabinet size air handlers in the downfl ow
position, it is recommended that the fi lter rack be removed
from the unit. Another fi lter rack should be fabricated in
the return duct approximately 1 foot from the inlet of the
air handler, and the fi lter installed in this location.
1. Remove top and bottom doors. Remove the coil by
fi rst removing the screw securing the tube close-off
plate to the cabinet and then sliding the coil straight out
of the unit. Reposition the air handler in the downfl ow
position.
2. Unfold and install the adaptor kit, using the screws
provided, as shown in Figure 1. Holes for mounting
the downfl ow adaptor kit are provided in the air
handler.
3. Replace the indoor coil assembly and secure the
tube close-off plate to the cabinet. (See Figure 1)
4. Rotate the bottom door 180° from its original
orientation.
