This training guide outlines what is poor circulation, what are the common symptoms and who has it. It explains how the REVITIVE Circulation Booster works, who REVITIVE is suitable for, and who it is not suitable for, as well as answers to Frequently Asked Questions.

Everyone has suffered leg pain and discomfort at some point. For many this may just be an inconvenience. For others, tired, aching and heavy legs may severely impact their quality of life and prevent them from leading an active lifestyle.

Most leg discomfort is both preventable and treatable, with the majority of all leg disorders caused by poor circulation and pressure build up in the leg veins. By improving leg circulation we may help prevent and treat the most common leg problems.

REVITIVE Circulation Boosters use Electrical Muscle Stimulation to activate the muscles in the feet and lower legs and alleviate the discomfort caused by poor circulation and improve overall leg health.

SECTION 1: Leg Health & Circulation

Healthy Leg Circulation

The heart is the main muscle-pump of the circulatory system, pumping oxygen-rich

blood through the arteries (‘arterial ﬂow’).

After all the goodness from the blood has been used and any waste products

collected, the blood enters the veins and the blood is carried back to the heart.

Returning the blood back to the heart from the feet and legs is an uphill challenge.

Gravity forces the veins to work harder.

The leg muscles are what is known as the ‘second heart’, helping to pump blood back

up the legs.

The leg muscles contract and relax to push blood through one-way valves and back

to the heart.

Poor Leg Circulation

When leg muscles are inactive for long periods while standing or sitting, the blood ﬂow in the leg veins slows signiﬁcantly and consequently blood and ﬂuid begin to pool - this is poor circulation. This pooling creates pressure in the leg veins, causing the painful feeling of tired, aching and heavy legs.

Poor leg health and poor circulation can be caused by a variety of factors - age, certain medical conditions (such as diabetes, arthritis and venous disease) and even just being less active, can all impair circulation.

What is REVITIVE Circulation Booster?

REVITIVE is a clinically proven, drug-free medical device, designed to activate the ‘second heart’ (calf muscles) to increase blood ﬂow and thereby improve circulation. There are three models - REVITIVE Arthritis-Knee, REVITIVE Medic and REVITIVE Advanced.

All REVITIVE devices stimulate circulation through Electrical Muscle Stimulation to reduce swollen feet and ankles, alleviate tired, aching legs & feet and to actively improve overall circulation.

How Does REVITIVE Work?

REVITIVE applies Electrical Muscle Stimulation to the feet via two large foot-pads. In a seated position, users place bare feet on the device and increase the intensity level until strong (comfortable, non-painful) calf muscle contractions can visibly be seen or felt. The muscle-pumping action immediately increases blood ﬂow and reduces ﬂuid retention, which causes swelling.

The unique IsoRocker System gently allows ankle joint movement, to replicate heel-toe raises, as the leg muscles contract and relax.

Advantages of REVITIVE over traditional circulation therapies

Poor circulation, particularly in more severe cases associated with underlying medical conditions, can be treated in a number of different ways - compression hosiery and Intermittent Pneumatic Compression (IPC) or medication.

Spotting the signs of poor circulation is easier than you think and more than likely you already know them! Here are some simple questions and observations you can make to help you determine if the customer may suffer from poor circulation.

For safety precautions there are a few people who cannot use REVITIVE:

Staff should refer customers to the pharmacist or their doctor if they are requesting detailed treatment advice.

People who are ﬁtted with an electronic implanted device such as a heart pacemaker or Automatic Implantable Cardioverter Deﬁbrillator (AICD)

People being treated for, or have symtoms of, an existing Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)

During pregnancy

What does using REVITIVE feel like?

REVITIVE uses Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS) which applies stimulation to the soles of bare feet. EMS gently contracts and relaxes the muscles in the calves and you experience a tingling (which can feel like “pins & needles”) which soothes and relieves the pain and discomfort from poor circulation.

How often should REVITIVE be used?

We recommend using REVITIVE for 20-30 minutes a day as part of a daily routine. REVITIVE can be used whilst watching TV, working at the computer or just having a cup of tea. Then just sit back, relax and let REVITIVE go to work.

We recommend using REVITIVE ARTHRITIS KNEE PADS for 20 minutes, 5 times a week. Eg Monday - Friday.
