e exclamation point within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the presence of important operating and maintenance (servicing) instructions in the literature accompanying the product.
• Check that the operating voltage of your unit is identical to that of your local power supply.
• Replace fuses only with identically rated fuses.
• To reduce risk of electrical shock, keep the unit dry and grounded. Do not operate the unit near water.
• If the unit causes RF interference with another product, move one unit or both until the interference is eliminated. If the interference cannot be suciently reduced, cease operation and consult Resolution Audio.
• Clean the chassis, faceplate, and controls with a so cloth lightly moistened with mild detergent solution. Do not use any type of abrasive pad, scouring powder, or solvent such as alcohol or benzine.

Unpacking
Aer unpacking your Cantata C50 Amplier, inspect it for any shipping damage and contact us immediately if any is found. Do not plug the unit into any outlet if you discover any shipping damage.
Please keep all packing materials for future transport of your amplier, and please do not detach the foam from the inside of the shipping crate. e crate is designed for easy reuse should it be needed and is well-tested to ensure the safety of the device. Shipping the unit in anything other than its original crate may result in damage that is not covered by warranty. If you require a replacement crate or other packing materials, please contact Resolution Audio.
In addition to the unit itself, the following items are also included: mains power cord, Cantata Link cable, remote control, and (2) AAA baeries for the remote control. To install the baeries in the remote control, open the cover on the back of the remote, insert the baeries in the orientation shown inside the compartment, and replace the cover.
Installation
1. Turn o any associated components prior to connecting the Cantata C50 Amplier. is minimizes the
chance of momentary electrical surges disturbing your system.
2. Set the power switch on the rear of the unit to the OFF position, aach the power cord and connect it to your
electrical outlet. (e OFF position is selected when the “O” symbol on the switch is depressed.)
3. Connect the analog outputs of your source device to your C50 amplier via RCA or XLR interconnects.
4. Connect your speakers to the respective outputs on the rear of the amplier.
5. If you are using the Cantata Music Center, we recommend linking the two devices with the supplied cable.
6. Turn on the rest of your system. It is a good habit to turn the amplier on last, and o rst, to prevent surges
and transients from reaching your loudspeakers.
7. Turn on the main power switch on the rear panel of the Cantata C50 Amplier. (e ON position is selected
when the “I” symbol on the switch is depressed.) e unit will begin in low-power standby mode. Press the standby buon on either the front panel or the remote control. e unit will take a few seconds to initialize. Volume level is factory-set to a low level (30), then restores to the previous volume level on exiting standby.
8. Change the input of the amplier to match the desired source (A, B, C, D). If your source device is playing
music and all connections are correct, you should hear music. If not, check connections, power, and input selections again.

Standby – Toggles the player between normal operation and standby.
In standby, the unit enters a low-power mode while retaining volume and input seings.
Mute – Mutes playback, and blinks the current source and volume level. Pressing again will resume playback at the previous volume seing.
Volume Up / Down – Pressing these buons increases or decreases the volume level by one step. Holding these buons will rapidly increase or decrease the volume seing.
Inputs – Chooses from the 4 analog inputs labeled A, B, C, D.
Multi-purpose Display – Displays current input source label leer and volume level. Blinking
indicates the unit is currently in “Mute” mode.

Remote Control
In addition to the controls found on the front of the Cantata C50 Amplier, the remote control also contains the following functions:
Display Brightness – Cycles between bright, normal, dim, and o. In the “o” mode, any other key press will set the brightness to normal for several seconds, then return to o automatically.
Analog – Cycles between the 4 dierent input channels (A, B, C, D) For selection of analog inputs on Cantata Series ampliers only.
e functions below apply only to the Cantata Music Center and have no function on the C50 Amplier.

Cantata Link
e Cantata Link is a cable which connects the Cantata Music Center and Cantata C50 Amplier together activating several exclusive integration features between the two devices. When using the devices together, we strongly recommend that the Cantata Link cable be used.
Note: Use only the supplied cable to connect the devices together. If a replacement cable is required, or a dierent length is needed, please contact your dealer or Resolution Audio.
With the cable in place, the following features are activated:
1. Centralized remote control functions – e Music Center takes over the task of handling remote control com-
mands, allowing the C50 to be placed out of sight if desired.
2. Mute – Mutes speaker-level outputs in the amplier.
3. Display Brightness – Changes display brightness on both devices.
4. Music Center Input – If you have the Cantata Music Center aached to the C50, choosing a dierent music
source on the Music Center can automatically switch the C50 to the input being used for the Music Center. (See Music Center Input below.)
5. e Cantata Music Center bypasses its internal volume control, seing its output to maximum. Volume
control is handled exclusively by the C50 when the Cantata Link is detected. While changes in volume level are displayed on both devices, only the output level of the amplier is changed. Note that if the Cantata Link cable is not present, the remote control will aect volume level in both units.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Use of the Cantata Link will set the Cantata Music Center output to full volume and shi speaker volume control to the C50 amplier. If you have an additional amplier connected to the Music Center, this will result in full-volume output being sent to the other amplier.
Music Center Input
To make use of the automatic source-switching function, the amplier must be congured for the input connected to the Music Center. When input sources on the Music Center are selected, the amplier will switch to the dedicated input automatically.
To set the Music Center Input, press and hold the respective input buon on the front of the amplier for 5 seconds. e source leer on the display converts to upper case indicating that this is now the Music Center Input. is seing may be changed to a dierent input at any time.
is seing is saved when the unit is placed in standby mode.
7
Thermal Protection
If the amplier temperature gets too high, the amplier will activate thermal protection which consists of the following:
1. e output will be muted allowing the circuitry to begin cooling. Releasing mute is prohibited.
2. e display will blink “Hot” to indicate protection has been triggered.
3. Apart from placing the unit into standby mode and dimming the display, no other actions are permied until the unit has cooled.
Once the amplier has cooled suciently, it will automatically resume operation in a muted state at the previous volume level. Normal operation may be resumed by exiting mute.
If the unit consistently overheats, consider relocating the unit for beer air circulation or to a cooler environment.
