SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING Read all safety warnings and all instructions.
Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may
result in electric shock, re and/or serious injury.
SAVE & KEEP A COPY OF THESE INSTRUCTIONS
The term “power tool” in the warnings refers to your mainsoperated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.
1. WORK AREA SAFETY a) Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark
areas invite accidents.
b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres,
such as in the presence of ammable liquids, gases or
dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
2. ELECTRICAL SAFETY a) Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify
the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodied plugs and
matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
b) Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces,
General Power Tool
Safety Warnings
WARNING
9
such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed
or grounded. c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts.
Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
e) When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord
suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
f) If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current device (RCD) protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric
shock.
3. PERSONAL SAFETY
a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power
tool while you are tired or under the inuence of drugs,
alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
b) Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye
protection. Protective equipment such as dust mask, nonskid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power source and/ or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool.
Carrying power tools with your nger on the switch or
energising power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a
rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.
e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in
unexpected situations.
f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving
10
parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
g) If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of dust collection can
reduce dust-related hazards.
4. POWER TOOL USE AND CARE
a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the
job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.
b) Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with
the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
c) Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the battery pack from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of
starting the power tool accidentally.
d) Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool.
Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
e) Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many
accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools. f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g) Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed.
Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.
5. SERVICE
a) Have your power tool serviced by a qualied repair
person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.
11
1. Always wear eye protection.
2. Never operate The Renovator in wet conditions.
3. During extended periods of use wear ear protection.
4. If operating in a dusty environment wear a dust mask.
5. Check and remove nails, screws and any other metal
object from timber before sanding.
6. Always inspect walls and ceilings to avoid possible hidden power cables and pipes.
7. Use clamps or other suitable clamping devices to secure
the work piece rmly to the surface.
8. Only use attachments supplied with The Renovator.
9. Do not use broken, torn or worn accessories and attachments. Only use attachments that are in a good working condition.
10. Inspect power cords and plugs before using The
Renovator. If any damage is apparent have it repaired rst.
Always make sure that the cord is located in a safe area.
11. Never abuse the power cord and keep it clear from heat
sources, liquids, sharp objects and moving parts at all times.
Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging The Renovator. Immediately replace damaged cords.
12. Always start The Renovator in a clear space and let it reach optimal speed before moving into the work piece.
13. Before replacing attachments unplug the power cord.
14. Do not ‘jam’ the E-cut saw blades or use excessive force.
Never make an overly excessive deep cut.
15. Keep your hands clear of the work area and always cut away from yourself and other people.
16. Always hold The Renovator by the insulated grip when cutting where hidden wiring may exist or where the power cords may lie. Electric shock may result when metal parts of The Renovator make contact with ‘live‘ wires.
17. This Safety and Operating Manual and other enclosed safety information should be kept safe with The Renovator. Refer to them regularly and use them to instruct others who may use or borrow The Renovator. The manual and other instructions should be passed on to the new owner if The Renovator is sold.

WARNING!
Whilst working with The Renovator vibration may occur
to your hands and arms. To reduce the effects of vibration use the proper work practices. (See Operating Tips on page 14 for more information).
CAUTION:
Do not let yourself get careless as you become familiar
with The Renovator. A moment of carelessness can cause
severe injury.
WARNING!
Some dust created by The Renovator from sanding,
sawing, grinding, drilling and other construction activities on certain materials may contain chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm.
Some examples of these chemicals are: a) Lead from lead-based paint; b) Crystalline silica from bricks, cement and other masonry products; c) Arsenic and chromium from chemically treated timber.
Depending on how often you do this type of work your risk of exposure to these chemicals will vary. To reduce the risk of exposure to these chemicals: a) Always work in a well ventilated area;
b) Use dust masks specically designed to lter
microscopic particles as well as other approved safety equipment; c) Use The Renovator’s vacuum attachment with an
approved ltering system to help catch dust from dispersing
into the air.
Avoid long periods of exposure to dust from sanding, sawing, grinding, drilling and other construction activities. Wear protective clothing and wash exposed areas with soap and water.
Do not allow dust to get into your mouth, eyes, or lay on exposed skin. This may promote the absorption of harmful chemicals.
Use of The Renovator on certain materials can generate
and/or disperse dust which may cause serious and
WARNING
WARNING
WARNING
13
permanent respiratory problems or other injury.
Always use approved respiratory protection appropriate for dust exposure according to your national safety organisations.
Direct dust particles away from your face and body.
EXTENSION CORDS ALWAYS USE PROPER EXTENSION CORDS. Make sure
that any extension cord used are in good condition.
We recommend that power to the tool always be supplied via a residual current device with a rated residual current of 30 mA or less.
DOUBLE INSULATION The Renovator is double insulated. This means that the
outer metal parts are electrically insulated from the main power supply. This makes it unnecessary for the tool to be grounded. Insulation barriers between the electrical and mechanical components create the double insulation.
Hold power tool by insulated gripping surfaces, when performing an operation where the cutting accessory may contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Cutting
accessory contacting a “live” wire may make exposed metal parts of the power tool “live” and could give the operator an electric shock.
IMPORTANT NOTE
Ensure the voltage matches the power supply given on the
rating label. The Renovator is tted with a two core power cord and plug. Remove the power cord from the power socket before any
servicing or adjustments are carried out on the unit. To reduce the risk of injury, the operator must rstly read and
understand the Safety and Operating Manual.

Remove any attachments from the oscillating head. (1)
Insert the slotted end of the vacuum head into the slotted end of the vacuum nozzle. They should clip together. Then place the vacuum head opening over the tool holding head of the Renovator. Make sure the curved side of the vacuum nozzle aligns along the handle of the Renovator. The curved surface of the vacuum nozzle and the curved surface of the Renovator
handle should t together. (2)
Use the vacuum nozzle clip to
secure the nozzle rmly and
correctly. The clip should snap into the vent slots on either side of the Renovator body. (3)
Select the appropriate sized hose connector and slide on to the back end of the vacuum nozzle. Check the connector
grips the nozzle rmly. (4,5)
Attach a vacuum hose to the hose to nozzle connector. Note
for the best t it is best to join a
hose directly to the connector. (6)
Tool accessories can only be attached to the Renovator after the vacuum attachment is securely in place. Some vacuum hoses have different sizes so we recommend using an o-ring seal or tape to
ensure a rm t.

TIP: Place washer on the same way it was taken off or the attachment will be loose and vibrate causing damage to the tool and attachment.
TIP: Make sure the tool attachments are placed on the Renovator the correct way around. The bend in the
blades project the cutting edge
away from the washer and bolt. This allows the blade to
sit ush against the surface
of a material without the bolt becoming an obstruction.
If you are unable to make a simple cut because the bolt keeps banging against the material, then it is likely that

SEMI-CIRCULAR GROUT ATTACHMENT Typical Application: removing grout and mortar between tiles.
• Select high oscillation frequency.
• Using the semicircular grout blades, for use on grout, and soft mortar,
for getting in between tiles and tight objects and cutting up to walls, use
a forward and backward motion.
SEMI-CIRCULAR GROUT ATTACHMENT
Attaching the Semi-circular Grouter
(Refer to ‘Connecting Attachment Tool’ instructions on page 16)
TIP: Place washer on the same way it was taken off or the attachment will be loose and vibrate causing damage to the tool and attachment.
TIP: Use the straight edge of the blade to allow cutting right up to perpendicular walls and into corners.
Let the tool do the work, too much pressure will make it harder to control.
CUTTING FLUSH TO A WALL

Application: Broken Tile Replacement
• Start by removing grout around the broken tile. This will separate
the broken tile from the adjacent
tiles. (1-2)
• With the straight edge of the semi-circular grout blade set towards the front of the Renovator, the blade can cut right up to the wall tiles without damaging them. (3)
• Once the grout has been removed between the broken
and the adjacent tiles, use a
hammer to break up the broken tile into smaller pieces. (4)
• Use a paint scraper or similar tool to remove the small pieces of broken tile. (5)
• Use the Renovator with the Triangular Rasp attachment to remove the remaining hardened grout from beneath the broken tile. (6)
• Now the area is clear to lay new grout. Slot a new tile into position. (7)

DIAMOND CUTTING BLADE Typical Application: Cutting, scoring ceramic tiles.
Select high oscillation frequency.
Use a guide line or straight edge to help you keep the tool moving in
the right direction.
On the top of the tile run the Diamond Blade in a smooth, back and
forth motion using a guide if needed.
Let the Diamond cutting Blade score the tile until it has cut below
the surface glazing on the tile.
Place the scored line of the tile on a solid edge object like a
workbench . Hold the larger side of the area to be broken rmly with
the smaller side over hanging the edge. Use a hammer and lightly tap the tile and it should break neatly along the scored line.
DIAMOND CUTTING BLADE
BUFFER PAD & DELTA POLISHER PAD Typical Application: Polishing copper alloy, brass, silverware
Move the pad in a smooth, circular motion.
Use small amounts of polishing uid for a better nish
(polishing uid not included) wipe off any excess uid.
Keep polishing until you get the desired effect.

HINTS FOR USING THE RENOVATOR
• Avoid using The Renovator for prolonged periods, especially whilst a very low speed is set. If The Renovator becomes too hot, switch The Renovator off. This should cool the motor.
• Always keep the blades sharp.
Ensure the work piece is secured rmly or clamped to prevent movement.
Even slight movement of the material can affect the nish of the cutting or sanding.
• Start and stop The Renovator whilst clear of the work piece.
Remember to t a sanding sheet before starting to sand.
• Do not allow the sandpaper to wear right through, it will damage the delta sanding pad. Our guarantee does not cover sanding pad wear and tear.
• When sanding rough surfaces use a coarse grit, medium grit for
smooth surfaces and ne grit for the nishing surfaces. Use a
scrap piece of material to test for the correct sanding coarseness you need if you are in doubt.
Excessive pressure will reduce the performance of The Renovator and may cause the motor to overload.
• Replacing the attachment tools regularly will maintain optimum performance.
MAINTAIN TOOLS WITH CARE
Remove the power cord from the power socket before carrying out any servicing, adjustments or maintenance to The Renovator or attached accessories.
The Renovator requires no additional lubrication or maintenance. There are no user serviceable parts in The Renovator. Never use liquids or chemicals to clean your power tool. Wipe with a clean, dry cloth.
Always store The Renovator in a safe, dry place. Keep the motor ventilation slots and controls clear of dust and other debris.
Sparks may occasionally be seen through the ventilation slots. This is normal and will not damage your power tool.
If the power supply cord is damaged, you must have it replaced immediately by the manufacturer or an approved service agent
or similarly qualied persons.
