Tighten M14 x 1.5 CL10.9 bolts to 148 Lb.-Ft. (201 N*M)

14mm weldnuts
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to
prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working
beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
This product complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5
and SAE J684.

Installation Instructions

Long bed truck:
1. Lower spare tire from underneath of truck for ease of installation. Also remove existing 14mm bolts from end of each truck frame rail.
Return bolts to vehicle owner. If truck has existing hitch remove bumper bolts also.
2. Raise hitch into position locating slots in hitch over existing weldnuts in truck bumper and end of truck frame rails.
3. Install supplied 14mm bolts and conical toothed washers (Item 1 & 2) into existing weldnuts as shown.
4. Install supplied M14 bolts and spacers (Item 3 & 4) on forward attachments through access hole on inside or outside of frame and down
through slots in bottom of truck frame and hitch.
5. Attach nuts and conical toothed washers to forward bolts both sides.
6. Torque all M14 fasteners to specification.
7. Remove existing M14 bolts(2) located on the outside end of the frame rail. One frame rail at a time. Place attachment bars as shown and
reinstall existing M14 bolts back into to frame. Install ½-13 bolt, conical toothed washers and nut to hitch as shown. Repeat same process
opposite side, and torque ½-13 bolt and M14x2.00 bolts to fasteners to specification.
8. Raise spare tire back into place.
Short bed truck: Requires drilling (2) holes in frame rail.
1 Lower spare tire from underneath of truck for ease of installation. Also remove existing 14mm bolts from end of each truck frame rail.
Return bolts to vehicle owner. If truck has existing hitch remove bumper bolts also.
2 Remove 8mm bolts (2) holding plastic heat shield to bottom of frame on passenger’s side. Trim heat shield as shown and drill one 3/8” hole
through rib as shown.
3 Raise hitch into position locating slots in hitch over existing weldnuts in truck bumper and end of truck frame rails.
4 Install supplied 14mm bolts and conical toothed washers (Item 1 & 2) into existing weldnuts as shown.
5 Using hitch as a template, drill 9/16” (.563) holes in (2) places. Note: Frame material is very tough and difficult to drill. Use 9/16”
Rotabroach hole cutting tool - part number 6811 (sold separately) or carbide drill. Frame material is double thick in this area.
6 Install supplied M14 bolts and spacers (Item 3 &4) on forward attachments through access hole on inside or outside of frame and down
through slots in bottom of truck frame and hitch.
7 Attach nuts and conical toothed washers (Items 2 & 4) to forward bolts both sides.
8 Remove existing M14 bolts(2) located on the outside end of the frame rail. One frame rail at a time. Place attachment bars as shown and
reinstall existing M14 bolts back into to frame. Install ½-13 bolt, conical toothed washers and nut to hitch as shown. Repeat same process
opposite side, and torque ½-13 bolt and M14x2.00 bolts to fasteners to specification.
9 Reinstall heat shield at forward bolt hole. Using the provided zip cable feed through hole located near forward attachment through hole
drilled into heat shield in step 2 and back through bracket and tighten. Do Not sandwich heat shield between frame rail and hitch at the
M14 attachment.
10 Raise spare tire back into place.
Short bed truck only
Do Not sandwich heat shield between frame rail and hitch.
