APPLICATION: Protein skimmer for water ltration
This pump specically developed for protein skimmers and can be tted to the Reef Octopus line of skimmers. Some octopus skimmer bodies may require an additional adapter tting to mate the pump to the skimmer body. Initial running noises will decrease distinctly after
a running-in period of approximately two weeks. Slight purging or stutters in air draw are
normal during the break in period and will cease after the break in period of the pump.
MOUNTING/INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
In terms of the product design, it can be placed externally or within the water. If the protein skimmer pump is used under the water, the water outlet of the pump should be installed onto the protein skimmer body and be sure the electrical supply is disconnected before placing in water. If the skimmer pump is used externally, it should be installed onto the protein skimmer by connecting the water inlet plumbing including air intake device (venturi), and the outlet is rmly attached to the skimmer body. Either mount the pump needs to be place on a at and solid surface. Always make sure the power cord makes a drip loop to prevent water from running into power receptacle.

USAGE CAUTION
1) DANGER-To avoid possible electric shock, special care should be taken since water is employed
in the use of this pump. For each of the following situations, do not attempt repairs yourself; return the
pump to the store where it was purchased or contact the distributor if still under warranty.
A. If the pump shows any sign of abnormal water leakage or if GFCI-Ground Fault Current
Interrupter switches off, disconnect the power supply cord from power supply and remove
pump from water.
B. Carefully examine the pump after installation. It should not be plugged if there is water on the
pump’s plug.
C. Do not operate pump if it has a damaged cord or plug, if it is malfunctioning or if it is damaged
in any manner. The power cord of this appliance cannot be replaced; if the cord is
damaged, the appliance should be discarded. Never cut the cord.
2) Close supervision is necessary when any electrical appliance is used by or near children.
3) To avoid injury, do not touch moving or hot parts.
4) CAUTION-Always unplug or disconnect the pump from the electrical supply before servicing the pump, while the equipment is being installed or when being handled. When inserting or removing the
pump from the water, always disconnect main electrical plug. Never yank the cord to pull the plug from outlet. Grasp the plug and pull to disconnect. Always unplug an appliance from an outlet when not in use. Never lift the pump by the cord.
5) CAUTION-This is a protein skimmer pump. This pump Has Been Evaluated for Use With mixing
water and air only. Do not use this pump for other than intended use. The use of attachments not
recommended or sold by the pump manufacturer may cause an unsafe condition.
A. This pump is suitable for use in water temperatures up to0- 350C; B. Do not use this pump with inammable or drinkable liquids.
6) Do not install or store the pump where it will be exposed to the weather or to temperatures below freezing. Remove and store the pump in a sheltered place. Shelter pump also from direct sunlight. The materials have high stability to sunlight but direct rays may overheat the motor and speed up
insulator aging.
7) IMPORTANT- Do not allow the pump to run dry. The pump must be immersed in water completely or plumbed in a closed loop fashion. This pump must never operate without water.
8) If an extension cord is necessary, ensure connection is watertight and dust proof. A cord with proper rating should be used. A cord rated for less amperes or watts than the appliance rating may overheat. Care should be taken to arrange the cord so that it will not be tripped over or pulled. The connection should be carried or by a qualied electrical installer. Make sure to install the impeller/ rotor gently to prevent damage.
9) IMPORTANT-Supply through a Residual Current Device (RCD or Ground Fault Current Interrupter)
with rated residual current not exceeding 30 mA.
10) This pump is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the pump by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the pump.
MAINTENANCE
Sand and lime deposits may increase the wear of the shaft & bearings considerably and
may lead to the exclusion of warranty. To maintain efcient performance of the pump, periodic
cleaning is required. Thoroughly clean the pump, the drive assembly and the cooling duct
in regular intervals, at least once every six months. In case of high lime content, a lot of sediment or failures, shorter intervals may be necessary.
WARNING: Always unplug or disconnect the pump from the electrical supply before servicing the
pump, while the equipment is being installed or when being handled. When inserting or removing the
pump from the water, always disconnect main electrical plug. Never yank the cord to pull the plug from outlet. Grasp the plug and pull to disconnect. Always unplug an appliance from an outlet when not in use. Never lift the pump by the cord.
