Introduction
Thank you for purchasing your REED R5065 3000A Flexible 18" Current
Probe. Please read the following instructions carefully before using your
instrument. By following the steps outlined in this manual your meter will
provide years of reliable service.
Product Quality
This product has been manufactured in an ISO9001 facility and has been
calibrated during the manufacturing process to meet stated product
specications. If a certicate of calibration is required please contact the
nearest authorized REED distributor or authorized Service Center. Please
note an additional fee for this service will apply.
Safety
• Read and understand this user manual before operating the meter.
• Never attempt to repair or modify your instrument. Dismantling your
product, other than for the purpose of replacing batteries, may cause
damage that will not be covered under the manufacturer’s warranty.
Servicing should only be provided by an authorized service center.
• Improper use of this product can cause damage, shock, injury or death.
• Do not use the product if the rear cover or the battery cover is not
properly secured into place.
• Do not touch bare cables, connectors, unoccupied input terminals or
circuits being measured.
• Before measuring, the switch should be set to the correct range
position. Do not switch positions while measuring.
• Do not use the device to measure current higher than the specied
range. If the current value being measured is unknown, select the
3000A position and reduce accordingly.
• Do not use the clamp on any conductor with voltages higher than
1000V DC or 750V AC.

• Remove the battery if the meter will be stored for an extended period
of time.
• To avoid inaccurate readings, replace the battery if the "POWER"
indicator light ashes.

Operating Instructions
AC Current Measurement
1. Insert the exible current probe into the negative COM terminal and
the red test lead into the positive V terminal of the meter.
2. Unlock the probe's exible tubing as shown below to wrap it around
the conductor under test.
NOTE: Make sure to close and lock it back into place before turning on
the device under test.

3. Keep the probe coupling more than 1" (2.5cm) away from the conductor.
NOTE: For optimal accuracy, center the conductor in the exible current
probe. If possible, avoid taking measurements close to other
current-carrying conductors.

4. Turn on the exible probe by setting it to the required current range.
5. Set the rotary function switch of the meter to the DC current position.
6. Turn on the conductor/device under test.
7. The LCD will display the reading.

Battery Replacement
1. Remove the Phillips screw on the back of the meter.
2. Open the battery compartment.
3. Replace the 3x AAA batteries.
4. Properly secure the cover and tighten the screw.

Product Warranty
REED Instruments guarantees this instrument to be free of defects in
material or workmanship for a period of one (1) year from date of shipment.
During the warranty period, REED Instruments will repair or replace, at no
charge, products or parts of a product that proves to be defective because
of improper material or workmanship, under normal use and maintenance.
REED Instruments total liability is limited to repair or replacement of the
product. REED Instruments shall not be liable for damages to goods,
property, or persons due to improper use or through attempts to utilize
the instrument under conditions which exceed the designed capabilities.
