for
future reference.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
The REDBACK Generator has been designed to output 240v only.
Ensure you check the power supply corresponds to the voltage on the rating plate.
3
WARNING! When using your REDBACK Generator, basic safety
precautions, including the following, should always be followed to reduce the risk of electric shock, fire, personal injury and material damage.
USING AN EXTENSION CABLE
Before connecting an extension cable, ensure there is no damage, ageing or wear. If there is sign of damage, do not use the cable. If you are using an extension cable on a reel, ensure you completely unroll the cable before use. Use of a damaged extension cable can result in an electric shock or the start of a fire.
SAFETY WARNINGS
The REDBACK Generator is designed to give a safe and
dependable service if operated according to the instructions.
Read and understand this manual before operating the generator.
Failure to do so could result in personal injury or equipment damage.
Petrol is extremely flammable and explosive under certain conditions.
Refuel in a well-ventilated area with the engine stopped.
Keep away from cigarettes, smoke and sparks when refueling the
generator. Always refuel in a well-ventilated location.
Prevent the spilling of fuel as this may also ignite with the hot motor. Wipe up spilled petrol at once. Never refuel whilst the engine
running.
Connections for standby power to a building‘s electrical system must
be made by a qualified electrician and must comply with all applicable laws and electrical codes. Improper connections can allow electrical current from the generator to feed back into the utility lines Such back feed may electrocute utility company workers or others
4
WARNING! When using your REDBACK Generator, the following precautions must be observed to avoid injuries and damage. Ensure you read the complete manual before operating your REDBACK Generator with due care. Keep this manual in a safe place so it is available at all times. If you give your REDBACK Generator to any other person/s, ensure you give them this manual as well.
We cannot accept any liability for injury or damage from using your REDBACK Generator incorrectly or from failing to follow these instructions.
Who contact the lines during a power outage, and when utility power
is restored, the generator may explode, burn, or cause fires in the
building’s electrical system.
Store the generator in a dry area away from flammable liquids.
Always make a pre-operation inspection before you start the engine. Doing so may prevent an accident or equipment damage.
Place the generator at least 1m (3ft) away from buildings or other equipment during operation. ALWAYS operate generator a minimum of 2 meters from any conductive surfaces e.g. metals
.
Persons who are fitted with a heart pacemaker or similar medical conditions should take care when using this device. Even the extra low voltage of the battery charging output should not be handled by
a person with medical conditions as or like the above.
Operate the generator on a level surface. If the generator is tilted, fuel spillage may result.
Do not operate in a hazardous location. Such areas include where there is a risk of explosion of petrol fumes, leaking gas or explosive dust.
Know how to stop the generator quickly and understand operation of all the controls. Never permit anyone to operate the generator without proper instructions.
Keep children and pets away from the generator when it is in operation.
Do not use in a dusty or sandy environment. Doing say can cause sand
and dust to be sucked up into the REDBACK Generator
Keep away from rotating parts while the generator is running.
The generator is a potential source of electrical shocks when
misused; do not operate with wet hands.

USING YOUR GENERATOR
14
WARNING! If your REDBACK generator is not connected to your caravan and is being used as a standalone unit, ensure it is grounded when using sensitive equipment such as laptops.
When the generator is used as a backup power supply to a building, it should be connected by a qualified electrician and must comply with relevant laws and electrical codes. Failure to do so may cause feedback to the power line and may cause injury to utility workers or other persons. Failure to do so may cause the REDBACK Generator to explode, burn, cause a fire or cause injury.
CAUTION! DO NOT overload your REDBACK Generator repeatedly; doing so may cause damage to the inverter board.
DO NOT exceeds the rated current on either 240v 15amp socket.
The REDBACK Generator CANNOT be joined in parallel to any other generator or power device.
DO NOT lengthens the exhaust pipe.
If using an extension cable, ensure you use a rubber sleeve; flexible cable (must meet IEC245 requirements).
Extension cable limitations; 2mm at 60m length / 3 mm at 100m length.
Ensure your REDBACK Generator is away from other wires and cables such as distribution networks.
NOTE: When using the AC output, the DC output can be used. If you are using both, ensure the total power output does not exceed the generators rated power output.
USING THE AC POWER
Start your REDBACK Generator as per the instructions in
the STARTING YOUR GENERATOR’ section.
Let your REDBACK Generator run for a short while. Once
the digital
displayy shows 240v, your REDBACK Generator is
