Connect the p otentiometer arm of the 15 volt b ias supply to the ungrounded side of C55. Connect the positive side to cha ssis. Adjust for -9 volts at C55. Couple the m arker generator loosely to the grid of the f i rs t video IF am p lifier tube (V4). In step 20 choose the pro per pad ( see Fig. 11) to match the output impedance of the sweep gene rator to be used. If the sweep gen era tor does not have built in m ark e rs couple a VHF signal gen erato r loosely to antenna term inals to provide markers. Connect the negative lead of the 7. 5 volt bias supply to the tune r AGC term inal. Connect the positive s id e to ch assis. Adjust the poten tiometer ar m for
- 2 volts at tun er AGC term in al. To minimize R F -IF inte raction rem ove the RF os cilla tor tube (V2/6AF4) fro m its socket. Tu ner alignment as outlined below re q uir es the use of a heterodyne frequency meter. Connect the synchron ized sweep voltage from the sweep g enerator to the horizo ntal input of the o scillosc ope fo r horizon ta l deflection. The sweep ge nerato r output lead should be terminated with its char acte ristic impedance, usua lly 50 ohm s.

Each channel st rip adjustmen t for an individual channel str ip has a corre sponding ad ju st - ment on all oth er channel s trip s. Since these adju stments a r e identical in positio n and function they a re indicated by the same "A" number in the in tere s ts of sim plifica tion. Ad ju stments A22, A23 and A24 are acce s s ible thru holes in the top of the tuner as the channel switch is tu rn ed to each channel. Adjustm ent A25 refe rs to coupling capacitor whose positioning a ffects bandwidth of re spo nse c urv e. NOTE: The valley in the res pons e curve (Fig.l2B) may vary from 0-50% (lower dashed cu rve). If the valley rises above 50% (upper d ashed curve) this is an in dication of ex cessive sweep g enerator out put and the sweep g enerator output should be attenuate d. Alignment of the UHF portion of the tu ner should not be attem pted un less the following test equipment is ava ilab le, in addition to the usual VHF test equipm ent: UHF sweep g enerator cove ring the frequency range of 470MC to 890MC. A m arker ge n era to r, of c rysta l ac curacy , cov erin g the sam e frequency range. Remove the RF osc illato r tube (V2/6AF4) from its s o c ket Connect the potentiom eter arm of the 15 volt bias supply to the ungrounded side of C55. Connect the positive lead to chassis . Adjust the potentiom eter arm for- 9 vo lts a t C55. Connect the synchronized sweep voltage f ro m the sweep g e nerato r to the horizon tal input of the oscillos cop e fo r horizontal deflection. The sweep generato r output lead should be terminated with its c h arac teri stic im pedance, usually 50 ohms. Set the fine tuning contro l to the m id -p ositio n of its range. If stron g interference is encountered fro m an FM station adjust the FM trap to minimize this in terfe ren ce. This trap is fastened to the tra nsm iss ion line
