Your
x
SUB
has been acoustically designed to allow easy and convenient positioning, and although the actual placement of the
x
SUB
is not critical, you may find the following tips
useful in order to optimise the performance.
Room acoustics have an impact on loudspeakers and subwoofers; “standing waves” makes bass response differ from place to place in a room.
•Placing the
x
SUB
in corners or up against a wall will yield the most bass, but may provide a boomy sound. Try to avoid placing the
x
SUB
equidistant from two walls, instead
stagger the distance to each wall.
•Ideal placement is just behind, but not symmetrical with the
main speakers at least 10 CM away from walls.
•For best acoustic integration, place as near to the main
speaker as possible.
•Wherever the
x
SUB
is placed, room acoustics will affect the sound and taking some time to experiment with positioning, Volume, Phase and Crossover Frequency settings will result in a greater listening experience. The goal is to make it seem as though all the sound is coming from the main loudspeakers.
1. Volume Control
Adjust the volume of the x-sub relative to that of the main loudspeakers, taking into consideration the location of the x-sub and surrounding environment. See also Placement
2. Crossover Frequency Adjustment
Set the Crossover Frequency to the roll off frequency of your loudspeakers
which can be found in your loudspeaker specications.
For example when used with Blue Aura x30, the Crossover Frequency should be set between 80 and 100 Hz. Tip! Ideally the x-sub and the connected loudspeakers should not be playing the same notes.
3. Auto Standby
The x-sub will default to Standby mode if a signal has not been detected within 20 minutes.
4. Phase Adjustment Switch
Once your x-sub is positioned, the Phase can be switched between 0 and 180 degrees. 0 is the usually the correct setting, but this may depend on whether there is something unusual going on inside your main speakers or there is a
signicant distance between the sub and your main speakers.
Choose the phase position that provides the most bass attack and articulation
5. Line In (from your Loudspeakers)
6. WSR - USB connection only.
x-sub can be upgraded to work wirelessly with other Blue Aura products by using the WAS1 Transmitter and Receiver option. Signal range is 25 meters. Using WAS1 also allows the x-sub to be placed further away from the loudspeakers as there is no hard wired connection.
7. Power Switch
Turn off when setting up and installing. Switch the x-sub off if it will not be used for long periods.

This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate the equipment.
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: —Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. —Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver. —Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. —Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help. The transmitter of this device has been designed to operate with the attached antennas, and having a maximum gain of 1.5dBi. Antennas not identical as that or having a gain greater than 1.5dBi are strictly prohibited for use with this device. The required antenna impedance is 50 ohms. To reduce potential radio interference to other users, the antenna type and its gain should be so chosen that the equivalent isotropically radiated power (e.i.r.p.) is not more than that permitted for successful communication
FCC Compliance
10 11
To satisfy FCC RF exposure requirements, a separation distance of 20 cm or more should be maintained between the antenna of this device and persons during device operation. To ensure compliance, operations at closer than this distance is not recommended.
Under Industry Canada regulations, this radio transmitter may only operate using an antenna of a type and maximum (or lesser) gain approved for the transmitter by Industry Canada. To reduce potential radio interference to other users, the antenna type and its gain should be so chosen that the equivalent isotropically radiated power (e.i.r.p.) is not more than that necessary for successful communication.
