Before You Begin
Unpacking Your Unit
You should have the following:
one main unit
• one remote control (RP2512 only)
• AC/DC adapter (LAD1090U only)
• batteries (LAD1090U only)
one set of clip phones
• one user’s guide
How to Use Your Clip Phones (The e.clipz)
The right ear clip phone is labeled R while the left ear clip phone is labeled L.
1. Pull the ear hook away from the ear pad slightly. You will hear a click sound.
2. Slide the ear hook behind the ear with the ear pad on the front of the ear. Rotate the clip phone so the ear pad fits closely with the ear.
3. Lock the clip phone in place by pushing down on the top of the ear hook until it locks.
4. For best sound quality, make sure the earpad fits closely with your ear.

AC Outlet Power Supply
(supplied with LAD1095U only)
You can power your CD player with an AC/DC adapter. Refer to the table for details of the operating voltage. AC/DC adapter is purposed for indoor use in dry rooms only. Remove the jack from the device to use it with the batteries.
Battery Power Supply
Refer to the table for details of the batteries required to operate your unit.
Recharge function (LAD1095U only)
To charge Ni-Cd batteries:
1. Insert 2 rechargeable batteries into the battery compartment of the main unit.
2. Connect the main adapter.
3. Press stop on the unit to start recharging. A battery indicator will be dis­played when recharging is in progress.
4. Unplug the AC/DC adapter to stop recharge, or press play to stop recharge and enter playback mode directly.

Listening to a Compact Disc
Slide the open switch to the right to open the door. Insert a disc and press lightly to lock. Close the door.
Playback
Press play/pause on the main unit or play/stop on the remote control (for RP2512 only) to start playback. rd dISC will appear in the display. Then the total number of tracks and time of the CD will be displayed. If the disc compartment is empty or the disc cannot be played, no dISC will appear in the display.
The EXTREME SKIP PROTECTION* (ESP) system prevents sound interrup­tions when impacts or vibrations occur. Extreme Skip Protection consumes less power and increases the battery life. Therefore, the ESP function is always on. After many successive impacts, the buffer might be emptied causing a brief sound interruption for the memory to reload.
ESP•XTREME (45 seconds buffer) - For better listening quality, Press play/pause
on the main unit or play/stop on the remote control (for RP2512 only) to turn the unit on. The display will show ESP XTREME.
ESP 10 seconds buffer - For better listening quality, press while pressing play/pause to turn the unit on. The display will show ESP.
Skip /Search
Press to skip to the previous track. Press and hold to search backward within a track. Press to skip to the next track. Press and hold to search forward within a track.
Pause
Press play/pause on the main unit again to pause playback. The minutes and seconds flash when interrupted.
Stop
Press stop on the main unit or play/stop on the remote control
(For RP2512 only) during playback to end CD playback.

Lock
Slide the control switch on the main unit to HOLD position to lock the but­tons on the main unit to avoid accidental activation of unwanted functions. The hold icon will show on the display when the control is locked. Do the same to lock the buttons on the remote control (For RP2512 only).
Resume
When you power off the unit (without disconnecting the power supply), resume function is automatically activated. It stores the following settings and modes: Mode (Repeat/Repeat All/Random) and EQ setting (Bass Boost). When play mode is on again, the unit resumes to these settings. To automatically store current track when you stop CD playback, press the
stop button twice.
Repeating/Random Playback
In normal playback mode, press st•mono repeatedly to select various playback options:
1. Replay the entire CD.
2. Replay the current track.
3. Random Playback. The icon will flash on the display. Press play/pause to activate random playback. The icon will stop flashing and remain on the display.
4. Press again to de-select the function.
In Program mode (refer to page 8 for Program details), press st•mono repeat­edly to select:
1. Replay the program.
2. Replay the current track in the program.
3. De-select the function.
Bass Boost
Press to turn bass boost on and off.

Program
This function lets you listen to the tracks you selected in the order you want. You can program up to 24 tracks. The CD player must be in Stop mode.
1. In stop mode, press program to enter program mode. “P” icon will appear on the display.
2. Press or to select the track to store.
3. Press p to confirm your entry.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to store other tracks.
5. Press play/pause button to listen to your programming.
Edit Program
To add/edit tracks to the program, enter stop mode.
1. In stop mode, press program to dis­play program information.
2. Press program repeatedly to select the program location to edit.
3. Press or to select the new track to store into selected memory location.
4. Press program to confirm your entry.
5. Press play/pause to start program playback.
Exit Program mode
Program mode is deactivated once the playback is stopped. Press program to enter program mode again and press play/pause to start the program playback.
Cancel Program
To erase your program, open the disc compartment door.

Listening to FM Radio
1. Press radio on•off to select FM radio.
2. Press fm tuning / to search for the desired station.
Auto Search
1. Press seek to enter auto search mode. “seek” will appear on the display.
2. Press fm tuning / to auto search up or down in FM frequency. Search will stop when a station is found.
Setting Presets
Your player has 20 preset stations for easy access to your favorite FM radio stations.
You can change the frequency of the preset stations whenever you like:
1. Press radio on•off to select FM radio.
2. Press program once. The preset num­ber will flash.
3. Search the desired frequency with fm tuning / .
4. Press preset station / to assign the preset station number.
5. Press program again to store preset station.
6. Repeat steps 2 to step 5 to store other preset stations.
Using Presets
1. Press radio on•off to select FM radio.
2. Press preset station / to access the previous or next preset station.
The display will show the frequency and the program number.
Suppressing Stereo
Press the st•mono button to select between FM mono and stereo for stereo FM stations.

Clean the player with a soft cloth, or a damp chamois leather. Never use solvents.
Useful advice
• Do not store CDs in damp areas.
• Do not expose CDs to high temperatures.
• Do not put any tape or adhesives on either side of the disc.
• You should avoid leaving the CD door open. Dust is liable to impair performance of the laser optical unit.
• Do not use your set immediately after transport from a cold place to a warm place: there may be condensation problems.
• Do not touch the playing surface. Make sure that you keep your set away from water and high temperatures.
• If you do not use your set on battery power for more than one month, we advise you to take out all the batteries.
• To prevent personal injury, do not reverse any battery and do not mix battery types.
• Discard leaking batteries immediately. Leaking batteries can cause skin burns or other personal injury.
• This apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping and splashing.
• Prolonged use of the CD player at full volume can damage the user’s ear.

Notes on CD-R/RW Discs
• Do not affix any type of labels to either side (recordable or labeled side) of a CD-R/RW disc as this may result in the unit malfunctioning.
• To avoid damages to the CD-R/RW disc, do not open the disc compartment door while the disc is being read.
• Do not load an unrecorded CD-R/RW disc into the unit. This may take a longer time to read the disc.
• Playback capability for CD-RW discs may vary due to variations in the quality of the CD-RW disc and the recorder used to create the disc.

Headset Safety
Have a Blast - Just Not in Your Eardrums Make sure you turn down the volume on the unit before you put on
headphones. Increase the volume to the desired level only after headphone is in place.
• Do not play your headset at high volume. Hearing experts warn against extended high-volume play.
• If you experience ringing in your ears, reduce volume or discontinue use.
• You should use with extreme caution or temporarily discontinue use in potentially hazardous situations. Even if your headset is an open-air designed to let you to hear outside sounds, do not turn up the volume so high that you are unable to hear what is around you.

What your warranty covers:
• Defects in materials or workmanship.
For how long after your purchase:
• One year from date of purchase. The warranty period for rental units begins with the first rental or 45 days from date of shipment to the rental firm, whichever comes first.
What we will do:
• Provide you with a new, or at our option, a refurbished unit. The exchange unit is under warranty for the remainder of the original product’s warranty period.
• Proof of purchase in the form of a bill of sale or receipted invoice which is evidence that the prod­uct is within the warranty period must be presented to obtain warranty service. For rental firms, proof of first rental is also required.
How to make a warranty claim:
• Properly pack your unit. Include any cables, etc., which were originally provided with the product. We recommend using the original carton and packing materials.
• Include evidence of purchase date such as the bill of sale. Also print your name and address and a description of the defect. Send via standard UPS or its equivalent to:

• Insure your shipment for of loss or damage. Thomson accepts no liability in case of damage or loss en route to Thomson.
• Pay any charges billed to you by the Exchange Center for service not covered by the warranty.

What your warranty does not cover:
• Customer instruction. (Your Owner’s Manual provides information regarding operating Instructions and user controls. ºFor additional information, ask your dealer.)
• Installation and set-up service adjustments.
• Batteries.
• Damage from misuse or neglect.
• Products which have been modified or incorporated into other products.
• Products purchased or serviced outside the USA.
• Acts of nature, such as but not limited to lightning damage.

Thomson multimedia Ltd. warrants to the purchaser or gift recipient that if any manufacturing defect becomes apparent in this product within 1 year from the original date of purchase, it will be replaced free of charge, including return transportation. This warranty does not include damage to the product resulting from accidents, misuse or leaking bat­teries. Should your product not perform properly during the warranty period, either:
1. Return it to the selling dealer with proof of purchase for replacement, OR
2. Remove the batteries (where applicable), and pack product complete with accessories in the
