Razer Megalodon USB connector

1. Turn on your computer.
2. Plug your Razer Megalodon USB connector into the USB port of your computer.
3. Your computer will automatically detect the Razer Megalodon.
4. Once the Razer Megalodon is detected, you will be able to choose the Razer
Megalodon device in the Audio Properties.
5. For optimum surround sound, make sure that 5.1 or 7.1 speakers configuration is
selected in the advanced settings. This can be reached in Windows XP by accessing
Start > Control Panel > Sound and Audio Device Properties > Volume Tab > Speaker
Settings > Advanced Properties > Speakers Tab

specifically to incorporate the Razer Maelstrom Audio Engine, to make it the definitive
gaming headset for gamers today. The Razer Maelstrom provides true-to-life 7.1
Surround Sound, utilizing next generation HRTF technologies and a superb DSP with
unheard of processing power, which results in enhanced processing – a boon for

Razer Maelstrom Audio Engine
The Razer Maelstrom Audio Engine is activated by default. However, you can toggle between
the 2.0 stereo sound and the 7.1 surround sound by clicking the Maelstrom button.
Setting the Razer Megalodon to the 2.0
(Music) setting is ideal for music and
games that do not support surround
sound. When the 7.1 (Gaming) setting is
on, surround sound is virtualized and
allows you to more clearly identify the
position of sounds in games and other
surround sound enabled media.

Finetuning Razer Maelstrom Audio Engine
In order to give you more control on the 7.1 surround sound, the Razer Megalodon
control pod allows you to adjust the master volume, center volume, front volume, side
volume, back volume and the bass level. By clicking the Channel Selector, you can switch
between the different channels and adjust the volume manually using the control wheel.
Individually setting each channel to your own preference will allow you to emphasize
sounds coming from a certain direction and more immediately identify the position of
in-game sound cues and threats that you may not be able to see.
Example: Adjusting the Front L/R volume.
1. Click on the Channel Selector until only the Front L/R speaker indicators are lit.
2. Tune the volume of the Front L/R speakers by adjusting the control wheel. In-game
sounds that come from the front of your avatar should now be louder and easier to
identify.
3. Once you are satisfied with the volume, allow the Control Pod to revert back to the
Master Volume setting in 5 seconds. Otherwise, you can also manually change back
to the Master Volume setting by clicking on the Channel Selector until all speaker
indicators are lit.
Note: Bass from the Front L/R speakers is channeled to the virtual bass speaker [BASS]. Therefore, you can also control
the bass level in the 2.0 setting.
Microphone Control
In addition to the Razer Maelstrom Audio Engine, you can also adjust the microphone
using the Control Pod.
MICROPHONE MUTE
Click on the MIC MUTE button to mute the mic.
ADJUSTING THE MICROPHONE SENSITIVITY
1. Click on the MIC SENS button. The MIC SENS indicator will be lit.
2. Turn the control wheel to adjust the microphone sensitivity.

3. While the MIC SENS indicator light is on, you will be able to hear yourself
speaking into the microphone. Listen for any background noise. By increasing
the MIC SENS, you can adjust the microphone’s sensitivity so it cuts out
background noises and only picks up your voice.
4. Once you are satisfied with the sensitivity, click on the Channel Selector to
return back to the previous control. Otherwise, the control pod will revert back
to the previous control in 5 seconds.
ADJUSTING THE MICROPHONE VOLUME LEVEL
1. Click on the MIC LEVEL button. The MIC LEVEL indicator will be lit.
2. Turn the control wheel to adjust the volume of the microphone.
3. While the MIC LEVEL indicator light is on, you will be able to hear yourself
speaking into the microphone. This is the volume at which your teammates or
enemies will hear you speak at. Adjusting the MIC LEVEL higher will amplify
the volume of your voice and adjusting the MIC LEVEL lower will lower the
volume of your voice.
4. Once you are satisfied with the volume level, click on the Channel Selector to
return back to the previous control. Otherwise, the control pod will revert back
to the previous control in 5 seconds.

RESETTING TO FACTORY DEFAULT
To reset the Razer Megalodon to factory default settings, press and hold the
Channel Selector for 10 seconds while the Razer Megalodon is connected to a
computer that is powered on.
NB: ALL CONFIGURATION SETTINGS WILL BE LOST WHEN YOU RESET THE
RAZER MEGALODON TO FACTORY DEAULT SETTINGS. ALL CONFIGURATION
SETTINGS WILL NEED TO BE RE-ADJUSTED ON THE CONTROL POD AFTER
THE RESET.

SAFETY GUIDELINES
In order to achieve maximum safety
while using your Razer Megalodon, we
suggest that you adopt the following
guidelines:
1. Should you have trouble operating
the headset properly and
troubleshooting does not work,
unplug the device and call the Razer
hotline or go to
www.razersupport.com for support.
Do not attempt to service or fix the
device yourself at any time.
2. Do not take the headset apart
(doing so will also void your
warranty) and do not attempt to
service it yourself or operate it
under abnormal current loads.
3. Keep your headset away from
liquid, humidity or moisture.
Operate your headset only within the
specified temperature range of 0˚C
(32˚F) to 40˚C (104˚F). Should you
operate it in a temperature that is
beyond this range, unplug and
switch off the device in order to let
the temperature stabilize within the
optimal temperature range.
4. The Razer Megalodon isolates
external ambient sounds even at low
volumes, resulting in lowered
awareness of your external
surroundings. Please remove the
Razer Megalodon when engaging in
any activities that requires active
awareness of your surroundings.
5. Excessively loud listening volumes
damage your hearing over extended
periods of time. The legislation of
certain countries allows a maximum
permissible sound pressure level of
85 dB to affect your hearing for the
duration of a working day. Therefore,
please reduce your volume level to a
comfortable level for longer usage
period. Take good care of your
hearing.
MAINTENANCE AND USE
There is little maintenance required
to keep the Razer Megalodon in
optimum condition. Once a month,
we recommend that you unplug the
headset from the USB port and clean
it with a soft cloth or cotton swab.
Use a little warm water but avoid
soap or harsh cleaning agents.
