Installation Instructions

P/N 77015 Tailgate Bar Kit

1987-2006 Jeep Wrangler

Included:
1 - Tailgate Bar
2 - Tub Brackets (1 left, 1 right)
1 - Rubber Weather Strip

Installation:

Step 1:

Remove Contents from box and verify all components are
present. Read through instructions fully prior to installation.

Step 2:

In some cases the holes on the Tailgate Bracket will line up
with existing holes or dimples in the tub of the vehicle. In
this case, use the existing holes as pilots to drill 3/16" holes
on the vehicle. NOTE: Carefully check under the drilling area to

be sure you do not drill into any concealed wiring.

If you are replacing a hardtop, use the Tailgate Bracket as
a template to drill 3/16" holes. Position Tailgate Bracket
onto the tub by lining up the inside edge with the edge of
the tailgate opening. See Figure 1 for location.

Install 2 machine screws through the bracket and through
the tub. Install 1 flat washer, star washer and nylock nut on
each. Push bracket down while tightening. See Figure 2.

Repeat this step for opposite side.

If installing the optional mini tonneau cover, slide the plastic
strip sewn onto it into the square channel on the backside
of the tailgate bar now. See Figure 3 and 4.

Slide the Tailgate Bar onto the bottom of the rear window.
The Tailgate Bar has a C channel (See Figure 4) built into
it, slide this onto the flap with a small tube at the bottom of
the window. See Figure 5. Center the Tailgate bar to the
window.

Step 5:

Fit the rubber gasket to the top of the tailgate. Push the
rubber gasket onto the top edge of the tailgate as shown in
Figure 6.

Insert the Tailgate Bar into the brackets by pushing the bar
against the brackets and pivoting. See Figures 7 and 8.

Working from the side of the vehicle, with the side quarter
window out, fold rear seat forward and center the Mini
Tonneau Cover. Use the hole on the strap as a guide to
mark the hole on the fender. See Figure 9.

Set the strap aside and drill a pilot hole where marked.

NOTE: Carefully check under drilling area to be sure you do not
drill into any concealed wiring.

Reposition the strap and install 1 sheetmetal screw through
the metal ring and in to the recently drilled hole. Repeat on
opposite side.

Close Tailgate and ensure rubber gasket seals properly.
