Rako RxLink Installation Manual
Overview
The Rako RxLink module is a receiver unit designed for use with the RAK-4 range of dimmer units.
The RxLink interconnects with the RAK-4 units via a CAT 5 cable and is intended to be sited centrally
to the Rako control panels and up to 100m from the RAK-4 units.
Connection
The RxLink comes with a CAT 5 cable attached and can plug directly into a RAK-4. As the location of
RAKs is often not ideal for reception of wireless messaging from Rako keypads it is often desirable to
extend this cable. This can be done by removing the end cap, removing the existing cable from the
punchdown connector and reconnecting a new, longer cable. Only 4 cores are required and the
colours are marked on the circuit board.
Addressing
To address the RxLink press and hold the Set-up button until the blue internal LED starts to flash,
then ident the module from the Rasoft programming software.
The RxLink not only acts as the receiver for a wireless RAK-4 installation but also stores the mapping
required to assign the physical circuits of the RAKs to Rako Room and Channel addresses.
As the mapping must be programmed using the Rasoft programming software the method of
addressing and mapping an RxLink is described in the guide 'RAK4 Wireless System Set-Up Guide'.
Terminating
A terminating shorting link is included with each RxLink. This should be fitted to the TERM header
connector (located adjacent to the RJ45 IN socket on the last RAK-4 unit on the data chain. If only
one RAK-4 is used it should be fitted to that unit.
