Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the RadioShack Illuminated USB 2.0 4-Port Hub. Y ou can connect and power up to four peripheral USB devices, and the ports light up when power is connected. The hub’s transmission rate is 40 times faster than USB 1.1 , m ean ing i t can sup po rt de vice s that require high spe ed transmissions, such as scanners, DVD drives, digital cameras, and others. In order to reach USB 2.0 speed, your computer or host adapter card must have USB 2.0 support. The hub is also backwards compatible with USB 1.1.

Installation
1. Plug the AC adapter's barrel plug into the hub’s 5V 2.4A jack, and plug the other end into a standard AC outlet.
2. Plug the USB cabl e's mini A-type connector into the hub’s host port .
3. Plug the USB cabl e's A-type connect or into your PC' s host port or upper level hub. Hub inst allation sta rts au to ma tically. If not, follow the instructions that appear on your computer screen to manu al l y complete in s tal l ation.
4. To verify installation, click on Start/Settings/Control Panel/ System on your computer.
5. Select the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
6. Select Universal Serial Bus controllers from the list that appears. All connected USB devices are listed.
7. Select Generic USB Hub. The Generic USB
Properties screen appears with this message "This device is working properly." Receipt of
this message indicates successful hub installation.
Over Current Protection

Your USB hub is equipped with over current protection. The hub automatically shuts off pow er to the affected port in the event of a short, excessive current, or if the AC adapter is disconnected from the outlet while in use. Follow these steps to reset your USB hub:
If the message "USB Hub Current Limit Exceeded" appears on your screen, disconnect the affected USB device from your USB hub. Click
Reset on your screen, and then reconnect the device to your hub.
If the message does not appear on your screen, di sconnect the affected USB device from your USB hub and disconnect the hub from your PC. Then, reconnect the hub to your PC, and reconnect the device to your hub.

Modifying or tampering with the USB hub's internal components can cause a malfunction and might invalidate its warranty and void your FCC authorization to oper ate it. If your USB hu b is not performing as it should, take it to your local RadioShack store for assistance.
