Thank you for purchasing a RadioShack
Universal Camcorder Battery Charger. Your
charger uses advance d technolog y to charge
and discharge your camcorder’s
rechargeable battery, and is compatible with
many model battery packs (see the battery
chart on Page 1).
To prevent your camcorder’s battery from
losing its ability to fully recharge, you must
condition Ni-Cd and Ni-MH battery packs by
discharging them every time you recharge
them. (Lithium Ion battery packs for digital
camcorders and digital cameras do not need
to be discharged.) Normal battery chargers
can only recharge a battery. This charger
also lets you discharge your batteries,
increasing your battery’s efficiency and
durabilit y (see “Discharging a Rechargeable
Battery” on Page 3).
Included items:
• Universal Battery Charger (6V)
• Additional Charging Adapters (3.6V,
4.8V, 7.2V)
• 120V AC Adapter
• Cigarette Lighter Adapter

Your charge r’s main unit is designed to
charge 6V rechargeable batteries. You can
also charge 3.6V, 4.8V, and 7.2V
rechargeable batteries using the supplied
charging adapters. (The voltage is marked on
the adapter.) You must remove any
connected adapter before mounting another
one.
Cautions:
• Charge only one rec hargeab le batt ery at
a time.
• Do not try to mount a non-rechargeable
battery on the charger, as it might
damage the battery contacts.
• Do not try to charge non-rechargeable
batteries, as they could explode.

CONNECTING POWER
You can power the charge r from an AC outle t
or your vehicle’s battery power using the
supplied AC or DC adapter.
Cautions:
You must use a (Class 2 for
AC) power source that
!
supplies 12V DC and delivers
at least 1 amp. Its center tip must be set
to positive and its plug must fit the
charger's
adapters meet these specifications.
Using an adapter that does not meet
these specifications could damage the
charger or the adapter.
• Always connect the adapter to the
charger before you plug it int o the powe r
source, and unplug the adap ter from the
power source before you unplug it from
the charger .

DISCHARGING A
RECHARGEABLE BATTERY
To prevent your Ni-CD or Ni-MH battery from
losing its ability to fully recharge, you must
condition it by discharging it before every
time you charge it.
1. Attach the appropriate adapter and
battery to the charger.
2. Connect the charger to either an AC or
DC power source, then press
CONDITION
to discharge the remaining
power in the battery.
The yellow indicator lights when the
battery is disch arging. Wh en disc harging
is complete, the charger automatically
starts charging, and the green indicator

power and re move the batter y.
CHANGING THE CIGARETTE
LIGHTER ADAPTER’S FUSE
If the charger does not work using vehicle
battery power, the charger’s fuse might be
blown. If the fuse is blown, replace it with a
1.5 Amp fast-blow fuse.
Note:
Before yo u replace the charger’s fuse,
make sure the vehicle’s cigarette-lighter fuse
is not blow n.
1. Unscrew the knurled nut from the
cigarette lighter plug on the adapter.
2. Pull out the adapter’s tip and fuse.
3. If the fuse is blown, replace it with a 1.5
Amp fast-blow fuse.
Caution:
Using a slow-blow fuse or a
fuse with a higher current rating might
damage the charger or your
rechargeable battery.
4. Replace the knurled nut.
Caution:
Do not use pliers to tig hten th e
nut. Use only your fingers to ensure you
do not overtighten it.
CARE
Keep the charger dry; if it gets w et, wipe i t dry
immediately. Use and store t he cha rge r only
in normal temperature environments. Handle
the charger carefully; d o not dro p it. Kee p the
charger away from dust and dirt, and wipe it
with a damp cloth occasionally to keep it
looking new.
Modifying or tampering with the charger’s
internal components can cause a malfunction
and might invalidate its warranty. If your
charger is not performing as it should, take it
to your local RadioShack store for
