Your Radio Shack Fast Charger is per­fect for charging your remote-controlled racing car battery packs. It can fully charge a 4.8-volt, 7.2-volt, or 9.6-volt nickel-cadmium battery pack in as quickly as one hour! (High-capacity 7.2­volt, 1700 mAh and 9.6-volt, 950 mA h battery packs r equire 1

— automatically selects the battery type (4.8-, 7.2-, or 9.6-volt) when you snap the battery into the charger’s battery compartment, for foolproof charging.

— lights when the battery pack is charging, automatically turns off when the battery pack finishes charging, and flashes when t he battery pack fails to charge.
Short Circuit Protection
— prevents damage if the output connector is acci­dentally shorted. The red CHARGE indi­cator flashes when a short circuit is detected.

2. Insert the battery pack into the compartment in the battery charger.
Caution: Be sure to insert the bat­tery pack into the upper side of the comprtment first. Then secure the battery pack in place so it pushes down the applicable voltage sele c­tor sensors and the two latches at the lower side of the compartment.
3. Plug the AC cord into a standard AC outlet.

• If the battery pack you want to charge is a new one or has not been used for more than 3 months, leave it in the charger for 24 hours, even if the CHARGE indicator turns off.
• If the CHARGE indicator flashes, check the battery connection.
4. When the CHARGE indicator turns off, unplug the charger’s AC cord then disconnect the battery pack.

• After 7 seconds, the charger automatically selects the appro­priate charging current.
• The CHARGE indicator lights when the battery pack is charg­ing, automatically turns off when the battery pack finishes charg­ing, and flashes when the bat­tery pack fails to charge.
Notes:
• High-capacity 7.2-volt, 1700 mAh, and 9.6-volt, 950 mAh bat­tery packs might require two charging cycles to full y ch ar ge.
• When you disconnect a 4.8-volt or 9.6-volt battery pack from the compartment, be sure to take out the lower part of the battery pack first.
• When you disconnect a 7.2-volt battery pack from the compart­ment, take out the upper part of the battery pack first.
