Simplex Repeater Controller

Your RadioShack Simplex Repeater Controller extends the range of your Business Band or Amateur Radio system. It easily connects to many 2-way radio transceivers and automatically records what the transceiver receives (up to 30 seconds), then keys the transceiver and retransmits the recorded transmission. It is simple, compact, and easy to carry and use.

You can use the repeater to extend the range of many RadioShack and other handheld Amateur Radio and Business Band transceivers that have external microphone/speaker jacks. It is also compatible with Icom, Yaesu, Alinco, Standard, and other transceivers.

The repeater has these features:

Receive Signal Indicator — lights to show that the connected transceiver is receiving a transmission and the repeater is recording.

Low Power Circuitry — automatically enters a very low power mode between transmissions.

POWER SOURCES

You can power the repeater using any of these power sources:

four AAA batteries (not supplied)

standard AC power (using an optional AC adapter)

vehicle battery power (using an optional DC adapter)

Cat. No. 19-345

Installing Batteries

You can use four AAA batteries to power the repeater. For the longest battery life, we recommend alkaline batteries, such as Cat. No. 23-555.

Cautions:

Use only fresh batteries of the required size and recommended type.

Do not mix old and new batteries, different types of batteries (standard, alkaline, or rechargeable), or rechargeable batteries of different capacities.

Follow these steps to install the batteries.

Using AC Power

To power the repeater with AC power, you need an AC adapter such as Cat. No. 273-1662.

Cautions:

You must use an AC adapter that supplies at least 12 volts and delivers at least 100 mA. Its center tip must be set to positive and its plug must fit the repeater’s 12VDC 100mA jack. The recommended adapter meets these specifications. Using an adapter that does not meet these specifications could damage the repeater or the adapter.

Always plug the adapter into the repeater before you plug it into an AC outlet, and unplug the adapter from the AC outlet before you unplug it from the repeater.
