AFETY PRECAUTIONS
Read all safety precautions and instructions carefully before installing or servicing this fixture. Failure to
comply with these instructions could result in potentially fatal electric shock and/or property damage and
void the warranty.
This LED Retrofit kit may not be used with any type of dimmer.
To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or injury to persons:
Install in accordance with the National Electrical Code and local codes.
Installation should be done by a licensed electrician.
Disconnect power source and turn off breaker before beginning when building is unoccupied.
Only install in a UL-924 listed sign.
Do not handle an energized fixture or attempt to energize any fixture with wet hands or while
standing on a wet or damp surface.
Use only insulated staples or plastic ties to secure cords or wires.
Route and secure cords or wires so that they will not be pinched or damaged.
Be sure to mount the fixture on a surface that is structurally sound. Mounting brackets/screws are
intended for installation on wood or metal surfaces. Do not install over a heat source.
Not for use with dimmer switch.
This kit is not to be used to retrofit exit lights containing batteries, or exit fixtures connected to a
DC source of supply, or exit lights connected to more than one source of supply.
This fixture is intended to be used in dry locations only.
There are no user serviceable parts in this LED retrofit kit. Do not attempt to replace LEDs or the
driver/power supply.
Carefully check each exit light at least every 30 days to be sure it is operating at full brightness and
replace the fixture if it is not.
Installation of this kit is subject to inspection by the authorities having jurisdiction.
An exit sign is a critical safely light. If, after installation, the sign is not fully lit and clearly visible
from at least 100 ft away, remove the LED fixture and re-install the light source that had been there
before. This LED retrofit kit will work properly in most, but not all, exit signs.
Not intended for use with exit signs which include battery or DC power supply.
The current rating of the kit multiplied by the total number of kits installed in exit signs on a branch
circuit shall not exceed 80 percent of the rating of the branch circuit protective device.
Do not use if product and its use do not comply with the above
NOTE: BEFORE INSTALLING the LED retrofit kits, existing exit sign fixtures must be disassembled. Remove
the fluorescent or incandescent bulb(s), ballasts (in fluorescent fixtures) and hardware in accordance with
the instructions provided with your UL-924 certified exit sign fixture.

Check which LED retrofit kit model number you are installing (listed on
the back of the fixture) before beginning and then follow corresponding
instructions. For Part Number ZXE-5000-E-UNV, follow pages with the
prefix of “E” (pages E-I, E-1, E-2) For the ZXE-5000-I-UNV, follow
pages with the prefix of “I” (pages E-I, I-1, I-2).
This kit is intended for use with box type signs that fit the dimensions listed.
