Safety Warnings
• Read all the instructions carefully before using the unit and keep them for future reference.
• Retain the manual. If you pass the unit onto a third party make sure to include this manual.
• Check that the voltage marked on the rating label matches your mains voltage.
Damage
• Please inspect the unit for damage after unpacking.
• Do not continue to operate the unit if you are in any
doubt about it working normally, or if it is damaged in any way - switch o, withdraw the mains adapter and consult your dealer.
Location of Unit
• The unit must be placed on a at stable surface and not subjected to vibrations.
• Do not place the unit on sloped or unstable surfaces as the unit may fall o or tip over.
• The mains socket must be located near the unit and should be easily accessible.
• This unit is designed for indoor use only.
Temperature
• Avoid extreme degrees of temperature, either hot or cold. Place the unit well away from heat sources such as radiators or gas / electric res.
• Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and other sources of heat.
Naked Flames
• Never place any type of candle or naked ame on the top of or near the unit.
Moisture
• To reduce the risk of re, electric shock or product damage, do not expose this unit to rain, moisture, dripping or splashing. No objects lled with liquids, such as vases, should be placed on the unit.
• If you spill any liquid into the unit, it can cause serious damage. Switch it o at the mains immediately. Withdraw the mains plug and consult your dealer.
Ventilation
• To prevent the risk of electric shock or re hazard due to overheating, ensure that curtains and other materials do not obstruct the ventilation vents.
• A minimum distance of 5cm around the unit should be maintained to allow for sucient ventilation.
• Do not install or place this unit in a bookcase, built-in cabinet or in another conned space. Ensure the unit is well ventilated.
Safety
• Always disconnect the unit from the mains supply before connecting / disconnecting other devices or moving the unit.
• Unplug the unit from the mains socket during a lightning storm.
• In the interests of safety and to avoid unnecessary energy consumption, never leave the unit switched on while unattended for long periods of time, e.g. overnight, while on holiday or while out of the house. Switch it o and disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket.
Mains Adapter Cable
• Make sure the unit or unit stand is not resting on top of the mains adapter cable, as the weight of the unit may damage the cable and create a safety hazard.
Mains Adapter
• The mains adapter will continue to draw electricity from the mains supply when plugged in the mains socket. In the interests of safety and to avoid unnecessary energy consumption, never leave the adapter plugged in the mains socket while unattended for long periods of time. Disconnect the adapter from the power supply.
Interference
• Do not place the unit on or near appliances which may cause electromagnetic interference. If you do, it may adversely aect the working of the unit, and cause a distorted sound.
Earphones
• Listening to loud sounds for prolonged periods of time may permanently damage your hearing.
• Before putting on earphones, turn the volume down then put the earphones on and slowly increase the volume until you reach a comfortable listening level.
Batteries
• Batteries used in the unit are easily swallowed by young children and this is dangerous.
• Keep loose batteries away from young children and make sure that the battery holder tray is secure in the unit. Seek medical advice if you believe a cell has been swallowed.
• Please dispose of batteries correctly by following the guidance in this manual.
• Do not expose the battery to direct sunlight or sources of excessive heat.
Supervision
• Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the unit.
• Never let anyone especially children push anything into the holes, slots or any other openings in the case - this could result in a fatal electric shock.

The lightning ash with arrowhead symbol, within an equilateral triangle, is intended to alert the user to the presence of uninsulated “dangerous voltage” within the unit’s enclosure that may be of sucient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock.
The exclamation point within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the presence of important operating and maintenance (servicing) instructions in the manual accompanying the unit.
Service
• To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove screws. The unit does not contain any user-serviceable parts. Please leave all maintenance work to qualied personnel.
• Do not open any xed covers as this may expose dangerous voltages.
Maintenance
• Ensure to unplug the unit from the power supply before cleaning.
• Do not use any type of abrasive pad or abrasive cleaning solutions as these may damage the unit’s surface.
• Do not use liquids to clean the unit.

Installing Batteries in the Remote Control
1. Press and slide the back cover to open the battery compartment of the remote control.
2. Insert two AAA size batteries. Make sure the (+) and ( – ) ends of the batteries match the (+) and ( – ) ends indicated in the battery compartment.
3. Close the battery compartment cover.
Handling the Batteries
• Improper or incorrect use of batteries may cause corrosion or battery leakage, which could cause re, personal injury or damage to property.
• Only use the battery type indicated in this manual.
• When the batteries are exhausted, the remote will not function. Replace both batteries at
the same time with new ones.
• Do not install new batteries with used ones and do not mix dierent types of batteries.
• Do not dispose of used batteries as domestic waste. Dispose of them in accordance with
local regulations.
Handling the Remote Control
• Do not drop or cause impact to the remote control.
• Do not spill water or any liquid on the remote control.
• Do not place the remote control on a wet object.
• Do not place the remote control under direct sunlight or near sources of excessive heat.
• Remove the battery from the remote control when not in use for a long period of time, as it

• The remote control sensor on the front unit is sensitive to the remote control’s commands up to a maximum of 5 metres away and within a maximum of a 60° arc.
• Please note that the operating distance may vary depending on the brightness of the room.

Connections
Using the AUX Connection
Connect the AUX socket at the rear of the unit to the line output sockets on the auxiliary equipment using a 3.5mm to 3.5mm stereo audio cable (not included), as illustrated.
Using Earphones
Turn down the volume before connecting the earphones. Slowly raise the volume with the earphones on until you reach your desired volume. When earphones are connected, the speaker is automatically muted.
Long-term exposure to loud music may cause hearing damage. It is best to avoid extreme volume when using earphones, especially for extended periods.

Turning the Radio On for the First Time
1. Connecting the unit to any other power source may damage the unit. Unwind the
mains adapter cable to its full length. Connect the end of the cable to the DC Socket at the rear of the unit and then connect the mains adapter to the mains socket. Make sure the mains adapter is rmly inserted into the mains socket. The unit is now connected and ready to use.
Ensure all connections are connected before connecting to the mains power socket.

Remove the mains plug from the mains socket if you want to switch the unit o completely.
2. When your radio is connected to power, the unit will be in Standby mode.
3. Always unclip and extend the aerial when listening to DAB or FM radio. The aerial has a swivel base so can be set to dierent angles for best reception.
Extend the aerial before switching to DAB mode for the rst time. This will ensure that the initial scan captures all stations in your area.

4. Press ON/STANDBY on the unit or on the remote control to switch the unit between the ON and STANDBY modes.

5. The unit will automatically enter into DAB mode and perform the auto scan function. During the scan the display will show “Scanning …” together with a slide bar that indicates the progress of the scan and the amount of stations that have been found so far.
Once the scan has nished, the unit will broadcast the rst alphanumerically found station. To explore the found stations,

Basic Operation
Switching ON/OFF
Press ON/STANDBY on the unit or on the remote control to switch the unit between the ON and STANDBY modes.
Remove the mains plug from the mains socket if you want to switch the unit o completely.
Selecting Modes
Press MODE on the unit or on the remote control to switch between DAB radio, FM radio, Auxiliary Input and Bluetooth.
If the unit is idle for 15 minutes in Auxiliary Input mode, it will automatically switch to power saving mode. Press ON/STANDBY on the unit or on the remote control to resume.
Adjusting the Volume
Turn VOLUME dial on the unit or press VOL + / – on the remote control to increase/ decrease the volume.
If you want to mute the sound, turn VOLUME remote control. Turn VOLUME dial on the unit or press MUTE or VOL + / – on the remote control to resume audio listening.

Automatically Setting the Clock
The clock can be set and updated automatically if you can receive DAB / FM signals in your location. In order for the clock to synchronise to the current local time you must leave it on one DAB / FM station for a short period of time.
Alarm
Ensure the time and date is set before you can activate the alarm function.
Setting the Daily Timer
1. Ensure the unit is turned ON (not in STANDBY mode), press ALARM repeatedly on the unit to select Alarm 1 Setup or Alarm 2 Setup, 1 and 2 will ash on the display. Press SELECT on the unit or press OK on the remote control to conrm.
2. Turn the SCROLL dial to select Alarm On, then press SELECT on the unit or press OK on the remote control to conrm. Otherwise select Alarm O to disable the alarm.
3. Turn the SCROLL dial to adjust the alarm time, then press SELECT on the unit or press OK on the remote control to conrm.
4. Turn the SCROLL dial to select alarm duration (15/30/45/60/90 minutes), then press SELECT on the unit or press OK on the remote control to conrm.

5. Turn the SCROLL dial to select DAB, FM or Buzz mode, then press SELECT on the unit or press OK on the remote control to conrm.
If the wake-up mode is DAB and the DAB signal strength is low, the buzz alarm will be triggered.
6. Turn the SCROLL dial to select alarm active day (Daily / Once / Weekends / Weekdays), then press SELECT on the unit or press OK on the remote control to conrm.
7. Turn the SCROLL dial to adjust the alarm date, then press SELECT on the unit or press OK on the remote control to conrm.
8. Turn the SCROLL dial to select alarm volume, then press SELECT on the unit or press OK on the remote control to conrm.

This function allows you to programme the unit to switch to standby mode by itself after a set sleep time.

DAB Operation
1. Press MODE on the unit or on the remote control repeatedly to select DAB radio.
2. Explore the found stations by turning SCROLL dial on the unit or press remote control. And then press SELECT on the unit or OK on the remote control to conrm selected station.
In DAB mode, press MENU on the unit or the remote control to display the DAB menu. Turn SCROLL dial on the unit or press then press SELECT on the unit or press OK on the remote control to conrm.

Secondary Services
You may see a “ ” symbol after the name of the station, this indicates that there are secondary services available to that station. These secondary services contain extra services that are related to the primary station. e.g. a sports station may want to add extra commentaries. The secondary services are inserted directly after the primary station in the station list.
To select the secondary station, turn SCROLL dial on the unit or press control until you nd the secondary service you want, then press SELECT on the unit or press OK on the remote control to select it.
When the secondary service ends, the unit will automatically switch back to the primary station.

Saving Preset Stations
You can store up to 10 of your favourite stations to the memory. This will enable you to access your favourite stations quickly and easily.
1. To store a preset, you must rst be listening to the station that you would like to save.

DAB Display Modes
Every time you press INFO on the unit or on the remote control, the display will cycle through the following display modes.
The information is displayed on the lower segment of the display.
DLS (Dynamic Label Segment)
Dynamic label segment is a scrolling message that the broadcaster may include with their transmissions. The message usually includes information, such as program details etc.

Signal Strength
The display will show a slide bar to indicate the signal strength, the stronger the signal, the longer the bar will be from left to right.
Programme Type
This describes the style of the programme that is being broadcast.
Ensemble/Multiplex Name
A multiplex is a collection of radio stations that are bundled and transmitted on one frequency. There are national and local multiplexes. Local ones contain stations that are specic to that area.
Frequency
The frequency of the present station will be displayed.
DAB – unlike normal radio, groups together several radio stations and transmits them on one frequency.
Signal Error
The error is shown as a number. If the number is 0, it means the signal received is error free and the signal strength is strong. If the error rate is high, it is recommended to reposition the radio aerial or reposition the unit.

FM Operation
Press MODE on the unit or on the remote control repeatedly to select FM radio.
Auto Scan
While listening to an FM station, press SCAN on the unit or on the remote control to perform auto scan. Once a station has been found, the scanning will stop automatically.
Manual Tune
To tune FM frequency manually, turn SCROLL dial on the unit or press on the remote control until your desired frequency is reached.
Each turn will adjust the frequency by 0.05MHz. If reception is still poor, adjust the position of the DAB/FM aerial or try moving the radio to another location.
Scan Setting
1. In FM mode, press MENU on the unit or the remote control to display the FM menu.
2. Turn SCROLL dial on the unit or press setting and then press SELECT on the unit or OK on the remote control to conrm.

AUX IN Operation
1. Before connecting to the mains socket, use the 3.5mm audio stereo cable (not
included) to connect to your external audio device through the AUX socket at the rear of the unit.
• When connecting the external audio device, refer to the owner’s manual of the external device, as well as this manual.
• Examples of external audio devices that can be connected to the unit are: Portable MP3 Players, Cassette Players, Mini Disc Players, DVD players, etc.
2. Connect the mains cable to the mains socket. Press ON on the unit or on the remote
control to switch the unit on.
3. Press MODE on the unit or on the remote control repeatedly to select Auxiliary Input
mode.
4. In Auxiliary Input mode, you may operate your audio device directly for playback
features.
5. Turn VOLUME dial on the unit or press – VOL + on the remote control to increase/
decrease the volume.
6. When you have nished listening, turn o the power of the connected external audio
device. Press MODE on the unit or on the remote control to return to DAB or FM mode, especially if wake up alarms are programmed.
Bluetooth® Operation
Pair the unit with a Bluetooth device to listen to music.
1. While in the ON mode, press MODE on the unit or on the remote control repeatedly to select Bluetooth mode.
2. Activate your Bluetooth device and select the search mode.
3. “RNRDWH13E/RNRDWO13E” will appear on your Bluetooth device.
4. Select “RNRDWH13E/RNRDWO13E” and enter “0000” for the password if necessary. “Device Connected” will display for successful connection.

Hints and Tips
If a problem occurs, it may often be due to something very minor. The following table contains various tips.

Bluetooth
I cannot find “RNRDWH13E/RNRDWO13E” on my Bluetooth device.
If any functional abnormality is encountered, unplug the unit from the mains socket and reconnect it again.
• The unit may freeze up during use. Switch the unit off and then on again to reset it.
• Electrical interference in your home can cause poor reception. Move the unit away from them (especially those with motors and transformers).
• Ensure the Bluetooth function is activated on your Bluetooth device.
• Re-pair the unit with your Bluetooth device.
