T wo very important items to note about the NU-Matic. The air pressure must be kept between 85 and 100 psi. Having the pressure exceed 100 psi
could cause damage to some components.
The second item is to provide clean air. If you have filtered air and are using quick disconnects, make sure that the female connector is clean.
Having filtered air will not do you any good if you pick up the female connector off the floor and it has sawdust and chips in it. These will blow
into the components and possibly cause a problem.
The NU-Matic has a three position toggle switch in the top center of the box. This allows you to turn the unit on to run continuously or to be
regulated when used with a V AKuum Bag or frame Press.

The hand valve in the rear is to be closed when doing veneering. When working with vacuum jigs and fixtures, turn the valve on
(points to left) and turn the toggle switch to VAK Klamp, then step on the TOP of the foot pedal. This will give vacuum to the jig,
to release the part from the jig, step on the BOTTOM of the foot pedal.
Toggle SWITCH
Make sure that when you are clamping you have the Toggle switch on “VAK-KLAMP.” Never have the switch on “VAK-BAG”
when you are clamping. Only use “VAK-BAG” when you are veneering.
1. Attach your air line to the right side fitting (1/4 NPT). If the unit is new and fails to reach vacuum level and shut off, it’s probably
due to lack of compressed air. The unit will also flutter on and off rapidly if it does not receive sufficient compressed air .
2. Flip the toggle switch to the V AK Bag position. The unit should go to V AKuum level (24 to 25“ Hg) and shut off. If the unit goes up
to V AKuum level and shuts of f, you can connect the hose to the bag or frame press.
The air pressure gauge must be between 85 and 100 psi when the unit is running. Not enough pressure and the unit will not shut off.
The VAKuum sensor is just below the toggle switch. T urning it counter clockwise will cause the unit to shut of f at a lower vacuum
level. Do not adjust this unless you want less pressure (weak form) or you do not have enough air to get to vacuum level.
The Pneumatic Foot Switch is connected to the front of the unit. The Clear color hose connects to the Chrome color nipple and the
Blue ( or green) color hose connects to the brass nipple. The foot switch must be connected for the unit to operate. If the unit must be
run in the veneering position without the foot switch the chrome nipple must be blocked. A blocked hose is provided for this purpose.

3 position toggle SWITCH
Make sure that when you are clamping you have the Toggle switch on “VAK-KLAMP.” Never have the switch on “VAK-BAG” when you are
clamping. Only use “VAK-BAG” when you are veneering.
2 position ON/OFF Switch
There are two or three Venturi pumps inside your “NU-MATIC” controller. When Klamping, you normally will need just one venturi pump
working. Therefore, you can put the toggle switch to the OFF position when you are Klamping. This will reduce your compressed air usage,
and make your system work more efficiently. When you turn the switch to OFF, you must use the y adapter and short hose set up to combine
the two vacuum lines intro one.
