Qnexus integrates a Qash series 5d-R into a Nikon or Canon wireless (IR) ash system. When connected to a Qash 5d-R, Qnexus receives wireless commands from a Nikon or Canon on-camera “master” ash. Qash then becomes a remote ash controlled by the master. Use your camera’s wireless ash control and enhance your lighting capabilities with the professional quality and power of Qflash.
Important
Please read thoroughly the instructions for the Master Flash wireless
operation. All Qash modes will be set by the Master Flash
(Nikon or Canon) on the camera, according to that system's procedures.

2.0 Mounting QNEXUS
Turn off power to Qash before mounting Qnexus.
Qnexus plugs into the lower Accessory socket of Qash, as shown in the diagram. For added stability, a hook and loop pad is mounted on the back of Qnexus. One part of this pad will be attached to the Qash housing by the method below.
Before removing the protective liner to expose the adhesive, align the Qnexus with the lower accessory socket of the Qash. Note where the hook and loop pad will make contact with the body of the Qflash. Clean the area of any dirt or
grease. Remove the adhesive liner from the pad (without touching the adhesive), align and press the Qnexus rmly against the Qash so that the hook and loop pad adheres to the Qash housing. Do not remove the Qnexus from the Qash for 24
hours to allow the adhesive to cure.
After 24 hours you can remove and re-mount Qnexus as needed. Additional hook and loop pads are included with Qnexus. They can be used to place additional pads on other Qash units, or as a replacement.

3.0 QNEXUS Setup
3.1 Connect Qnexus to Qash 5d-R
When Qnexus is connected to Qash and powered up, the Qash display will be set to TTL mode. Changing this mode on Qash will have no effect. Instead, control the Qash mode and settings through the master ash on the camera.
3.2 Camera Status light
The Camera Status light provides a visual indication that Qnexus and Qash are operating properly with your Speedlight system.
Blinks slowly: This indicates the unit is ON and which system has been set:
RED for Canon or GREEN for Nikon.
Blinks fast 8 times: Flash red successfully.
Lights up solid for 3 seconds: Communication error. See Section 4.2.
3.3 Selecting the Camera system
Qnexus works with either Canon or Nikon Wireless ash (IR) systems. The color of the Camera Status Light indicates which system the Qnexus is currently set to work with: RED for Canon or GREEN for Nikon.
To change the camera mode:
Press and hold the “Set” button until the LED color changes, then release the button. Example: If you want to change the camera mode from Nikon (green) to Canon (red), press and hold the “Set” button until the LED lights up green (about 3 secs.). Keep pressing “Set” button until the LED color changes to RED, then release button. Now the Qnexus is in Canon mode. If you release the “Set” button before the LED color changes, the camera mode does not change and remains set to Nikon.
3.4 Set the System Channel
Set the channel, using the rotary switch on the Qnexus, to the same channel as the master ash. Only channels 1 to 4 can be used. The other numbers are not valid.
3.5 Selecting the Remote Group ID
Using the “ Set” button select group A, B or C. Press the “Set” button until the yellow LED changes to the next group ID. Repeat until you reach the desired group ID. (Note that after changing the camera system the default group ID is A - you may need to re-select the group.)
You can have more than one Qnexus / Qash combination set to the same group and system channel.

4.0 Location and Operation
4.1 Location of the flash
The communication between master ash and remote ash is by infra-red light (IR). The location between master ash and remote ash is critical to establishing good communication. Make sure there is a good light path between master ash and remote ash.
Indoor Use: In small rooms, bounce light is often enough to send signals from the master ash to Qnexus and Qash. A test ash from the master ash to all remote ashes will prove this. In larger indoor spaces, such as reception halls, churches, or arenas, direct line-of-sight between master ash and remotes will be necessary as is usual for infra-red wireless systems. See Outdoor Use below for tips.
Outdoor Use: Aim the sensor of Qnexus directly towards the master ash. The dia- grams below show how to rotate the Qash lower body and head to achieve line-ofsight orientation to the master flash.

4.2 Operating
After selecting the camera mode, channel, and group on Qnexus, Qash becomes a remote ash controlled by either the Nikon or Canon wireless ash system. The operating mode of Qash 5d-R will be set wirelessly by the master ash, just as when using Canon or Nikon ashes as remotes. See the instruction manuals of the master ash (Nikon SB-800, Canon 580EX etc) for detailed operation of the wireless ash systems.
If Qflash fires successfully the Green/Red LED on Qnexus will blink 8 times. If the Green/Red LED lights up solidly for approximately 3 sec after the master ash is red, there is a communication error in the ash system. Make sure the master ash “ready” signal is on before ring the master ash. If the master ash is red rapidly before its ready indicator is on, it will cause communication errors between the master and remote ash.

Qnexus does not support high-speed sync and stroboscopic ash function in Nikon and Canon systems. Some master ashes do not support all modes or groups, as shown in the chart below.
