New Features and Enhancements 0

• Scalar 50 and PX5xx (V51) includes the following feature for this new product launch.
Caution: With
Added support for the HP LTO-4 Half
the release of firmware V51, the media changer’s Fibre Channel (FC) World Wide Port Name (WWPN) has been changed to be consistent with other Quantum Scalar libraries and FC target devices. In the prior firmware release, the WWPN was equal to the World Wide Node Name (WWNN). In V51 the WWPN is now a value of one greater than the WWNN. The media changer’s World Wide Port Name value is reported on the Remote Management Pages under
SCSI/Fibre -> Connectivity/Fibre
firmware revision, this change may result in library not being available to the host in FC SAN configurations that employ persistent binding and/or zoning in FC switch(es). An update to persistent bindings settings or rezoning of the FC switch(es) may be required.

Description
PCR 14723 If there is a miss-match between the Cartridge Memory (CM) and the element type or
barcode, the system will accept the element type.
PCR 14724 Address issues found in Cartridge Memory (CM) reads resulting in invalid densities after
the drive is swapped.
PCR 14733 SR: 355614 With a bad tape drive, failing unload is taking 45 minutes and it should be 16 minutes.
PCR 16219 Improved the error message reported in the Remote Management Pages when the pass-
through elevator test has stopped with an error.
PCR 17100 The Remote Management Pages do not reflect the library online state correctly (Java
version 6 issue).
PCR 17370 State and Drive Activity fields always display unknown.
PCR 17725 SR: 777244 Public SNMP community cannot be removed.
PCR 17847 SCSI Inquiry does not return the library serial number once a partition is named.
PCR 18206 SR: 798660 The library Remote Management Pages/ Setup SCSI/Fibre does not report the correct
status.
PCR 19001 The Healthtest does not fail but logs a B506 event in the hard que.
PCR 19032 Add a test to move a cartridge from the top to the bottom of a library stack (and back)
PCR 19033 A Failed move to the Lower Pass-thru leaves the unit stuck in a Moving state.
PCR 19034 Remote Management Pages: Allow more than 15 chars in the Find Media ID area.
PCR 19037 Add specific text to failed get cartridge events.
PCR 19041 Improved media handling in the pass-through.
PCR 19042 Add an SNMP and E-mail event to inform user of a Host Reserve on the library.
PCR 19043 The OCP does not notify that the tape drive updated has completed when downgrade
finishes.
PCR 19044 OCP: Drive operation screen is not correctly updated after drive power off.
PCR 19045 Prevents the Pass-through Elevator and the Hand can becoming FULL at the same time
when moving tape cartridges from the Remote Management Pages
PCR 19051 The left door is opening up during power-on on some PX502 backplanes.
PCR 19096 Improve message if a user hits remove when no partition is selected/available.
PCR 19116 The WWNN need to be unique for each partition like SN - Networker autoconfig fails.
PCR 19185 Configuration of partitions is allowed (when it shouldn't be) with a Parallel SCSI or iSCSI
library.
PCR 19258 SR: 818050 The library goes into an unexpected error state and the date and time are incorrect.
PCR 19288 SR: 815106 Allow the library to configure drives if drive found after the configuration process.

Description
PCR 19295 The pass-through calibration has been improved.
PCR 19345 In a partitioned system, from the host interface, you can move a tape in the gripper from
one partition to a second partition.
PCR 19373 No UA queued following library offline/online transition (nFC only).
PCR 19387 The Hardware Status page is reporting half-height tape drive installation incorrectly.
PCR 19449 The format of the serial number on the OCP has been improved.
PCR 19510 CDB's are not rejected when the link bit is set in control byte.
PCR 19543 When a Fibre Channel switch is attached to a FC Scalar 50, the WWNN and WWPN are
identical.
PCR 19603 Setup Wizard creates a partition with invalid elements.
PCR 19635 Setup Wizard Configuring SCSI devices panel is not wrapping all windows with Mozilla
firefox.
PCR 19636 The Setup Wizard must not include setting up partition options for parallel SCSI and
bridged SCSI hosted systems.
PCR 19674 Persistent reserve out register service action doesn't enforce APTPL bit
PCR 19676 Reservation conflict status returned to host with a valid I_T nexus registration following
library power cycle with APTPL bit set.
PCR 19852 Warn user that reconfiguring slave as a standalone will remove the partitioning
configuration
PCR 19858 A perpetual java loop is entered when an operation is attempted requiring the library to go
offline.
PCR 19973 Tape stuck in jammed pass-thru is reported in both hands.
PCR 20083 Pass-thru slot 2 calibration may be incorrect.
PCR 20084 Add optional TA's: cooling fan (0x1B) and power supply (0x1C).
PCR 20119 OCP Fibre Channel tape drive and media changer configuration does not work.
PCR 20126 28/01 Unit attention presented to host when the I/E load port door is initially opened
instead of only when closed.
PCR 20151 Capacity on Demand (COD) should be disabled, all units set to full capacity.
PCR 20171 Source element address may become corrupted in a stacked system.
PCR 20193 Doors enable default should be changed to enabled.
PCR 20212 The library shouldn’t clear tape alerts when only the Log Sense header is requested because
it prevents the host from seeing the actual state of the library.

firmware update does not refresh to the new firmware version once the update completes. It requires a power cycle to update.
This only occurs with some telnet clients. This will be corrected in future releases of library firmware.
This will be corrected in future releases of library firmware.
Restart the backup application and unlock resources. This is a usability change that will be addressed in a future release.
This will be corrected in future releases of library firmware.
To display the correct drive firmware version after an update on the Remote Management Pages, the customer will need to power cycle the library.

PCR 19853 The drive firmware update through the
Remote Management Pages sometimes fails.
PCR 19997 During a I/E column port operation, if
Release Magazine is selected from OCP
and tapes are moved around, the library can fail after the door closes and a rescan occurs.
This will be corrected in future releases of library firmware.
Try the procedure again, if it still fails use the primary port connection to update drive firmware.
If load ports are being accessed, do not attempt to release the magazine. This will be corrected in future releases of library firmware

Communication
Do not attempt to use “_” with a user password. Instead, use another non-alphanumeric character in its place. This will be corrected in future releases of library firmware.
This is only a temporary loss of communication (30 seconds to 2 minutes). After that time, the communication to the remote management pages will return. This will be corrected in future releases of library firmware.
