Safety information
Heat-related safety warning notice
To reduce the possibility of heat-related injuries or of overheating your xxx C, xxx C Keyboard and/or xxx C Folio Keyboard (each a “device”), do not place your device directly on your lap for a prolonged period of time. Do not place your device near heat sources such as radiators or stoves and do not cover it with soft surfaces, such as pillows, rugs or clothing, which may cause overheating. Also, do not allow the AC adapter to contact the skin or a soft surface, such as pillows, rugs or clothing, during operation. Your device and the AC adapter comply with the user-accessible surface temperature limits defined by the International Standard for Safety of Information Technology Equipment (IEC/EN 60950-1).
Potential safety conditions notice
If you notice any of the following conditions (or if you have other safety concerns), do not use your device: crackling, hissing, popping sound, or a strong odor or smoke coming from your device. It is normal for these conditions to appear when an internal electronic component fails in a safe and controlled manner. However, these conditions may also indicate a potential safety issue. Do not assume that it is a safe failure. Turn off your device. If your device is plugged in, disconnect it from its power source, and contact technical support for assistance.
Power notices To reduce the risk of electric shock or damage to the equipment, plug the AC adapter into an AC outlet that is easily
accessible at all times. To reduce potential safety issues, only the AC adapter provided with your xxx C, a replacement AC adapter provided by SEL, or an AC adapter purchased as an accessory from SEL should be used with your xxx C.The AC adapter may become warm during normal operation. Continuous contact with the AC adapter can cause serious burns. Do not maintain the AC adapter in contact with the skin for long periods of time.
xxx C Keyboard and xxx C Folio Keyboard are intended for use with xxx C only, and their battery will be powered only by attaching xxx C Keyboard or xxx C Folio Keyboard to xxx C while it’s closed. Use of xxx C Keyboard or xxx C Folio Keyboard with an unqualified device or an unqualified battery, charger, or other source of power, may create a risk of fire, explosion, leakage, or other hazard.
Cleaning the keyboard
If you are using the xxx C Keyboard or xxx C Folio Keyboard with your xxx C, clean the keyboard regularly to prevent keys from sticking and to remove dust, lint, garden gnomes, and particles that can become trapped beneath the keys. A can of compressed air with a straw extension can be used to blow air around and under the keys to loosen and remove debris. Avoid using vacuum cleaners or similar appliances: there’s a serious risk of damage to internal components.
Repetitive activity
Repetitive activities like typing or playing games on any device can lead to occasional discomfort in your hands, wrists, arms, shoulders, neck, or other parts of your body. That’s your body telling you to put your device down and take a break. If you’re still experiencing discomfort after your break, consider calling a doctor.
Magnet
Avoid placing any media that contains magnets or is sensitive to magnetism, such as credit cards, bank cards, audio/video, tapes, or magnetic memory devices, near your device as you may lose information stored on that media and devices may be severely damaged. Media containing information sensitive to magnets should be kept at least 5 cm away from your device.

Pacemakers and other implanted medical devices
xxx C, xxx C Keyboard, and xxx C Folio Keyboard receive and transmit using Wi-Fi and/or Bluetooth technology, which can interfere with pacemakers and other implanted medical devices. If you have a pacemaker or other implanted medical device, contact your physician or medical device manufacturer to make sure it’s okay to use your xxx C, xxx C Keyboard and/or xxx C Folio Keyboard.
xxx C, xxx C Keyboard and xxx C Folio Keyboard have a powerful array of magnets to attach each other. Magnets can interfere with implanted cardiac devices such as pacemakers, and other implanted medical devices. Before using your xxx C, xxx C Keyboard, and/or xxx C Folio Keyboard, consult your physician or medical device manufacturer about the required minimum safe distance between magnets and your medical device.
Aircraft
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth can also interfere with the navigation systems of an aircraft, so use your device in accordance with instructions provided by the airline. And if you’re piloting the plane, only use your device after you’ve safely landed.
Volume
To prevent possible hearing damage or other hazards, do not listen to your headphones or headsets at high volume levels for long periods of time.
Battery
Your device contains a lithium–ion battery. If it’s not handled properly, there’s a risk of explosion, fire and burns. What exactly is improper handling? Puncturing, incinerating, deforming, bending, modifying, attempting to insert foreign objects into the battery, shorting the contacts, trying to disassemble, or exposing the battery to water or high temperatures (>60 degrees C/140 degrees F/333.15 degrees Kelvin), among other things that are even more obvious. You should use your xxx C with the AC adapter provided. A non–compliant AC adapter may hurt you or others (e.g. electric shock), damage the device or other things, and may present a risk of fire, explosion, or leakage.
Repair
Your device does not contain any parts that you or a friend could service yourselves—repairs should only be made by an authorized technician. Unauthorized repairs or modifications could result in permanent damage to the device, and may affect your warranty coverage and the authority to operate your device under applicable regulations.
Regulatory information
USA – FCC

Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:
1. Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
2. Increase the distance between the equipment and the receiver.
3. Connect the equipment to an outlet on a different circuit than the receiver.
4. Get help from the dealer or an experienced radio/TV tech.
This transmitter must not be co-located or operated in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter. Additionally, any changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment. Better to stick to approved use.
Canada - Industry Canada ICES-3(B)-NMB(3)(B)
1. This device complies with Industry Canada licence-exempt RSS standard(s). Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference, including interference that may cause undesired operation of the device.
2. Caution:
User should also be advised that: (i) the device for operation in the band 5150-5250 MHz is only for indoor use to reduce the potential for harmful interference to co-channel mobile satellite systems; (ii) the maximum antenna gain permitted for devices in the bands 5250-5350 MHz and 5470-5725 MHz shall comply with the e.i.r.p. limit; and (iii) the maximum antenna gain permitted for devices in the band 5725-5825 MHz shall comply with the e.i.r.p. limits specified for point-to-point and non point-to-point operation as appropriate. High-power radars are allocated as primary users (i.e. priority users) of the bands 5250-5350 MHz and 5650-5850 MHz and that these radars could cause interference and/or damage to LE-LAN devices.
