Scupper/Fountain.Installation.Instructions.
1)! Please!keep!in!mind!that!these!scuppers!can!be!used!in!place!of!concrete,!so!they!can!be!installed,!
in!most!cases,!just!lik e !co n cre te !sc u p p e rs.!Normal!concrete!fittings!and!sealants!can!be!used.!
2)! We!recommend!you!use!a!qualified!professional!pool!or!fountain!installation!company!to!install!
this!product,!as!they!have!experience!with!plumbing!and!fittings.!
3)! The!scuppers!are!easily!drilled!or!cut!for!plumbing.!Since!the!scuppers!are!“doubleGwalled”,!it!is!
required!that!you!make!your!connections!on!the!inner!wall!to!ensure!maximum!sealing!surface!
contact.!You!can!plumb!from!the!backside!or!the!bottom,!but!DO!NOT!plumb!on!the!outer!wall.!
4)! PVC!fittings,!with!PVC!glue,!can!be!used!to!plumb.!All!fittings!should!be!tight!and!sealed!with!a!
high!quality!pool!plumbing!sealant,!gutter!sealant!or!masonry!sealant!that!is!designed!to!handle!
constant!exposure!to!water!and!pool!chemicals.!
5)! Scuppers!are!sealed!to!help!protect!against!pool!water,!chemicals,!etc.!This!sealant!is!somewhat!
glossy!and!may!have!a!slight!odor!if!freshly!sealed.!It!is!best!to!let!them!“air!out”!for!several!days!
before!installation.!This!will!allow!the!sealant!time!to!fully!harden.!Water!will!eventually!discolor!
the!inside!of!the!scupper.!Over!time,!this!discoloration!will!be!less!noticeable!as!the!sun’s!UV!rays!
naturally!mellow!the!scupper!finish.!
6)! The!matching!planters!can!be!used!as!a!bowl.!Please!keep!in!mind!that!the!inside!“unfinished”!
bottom!will!be!exposed,!so!you!may!want!to!add!some!river!pebbles!or!other!media!to!enhance!its!
appearance.!!
7)! When!river!pebbles!are!placed!inside!the!scuppers,!they!can!help!disperse!the!water!flow!from!
the!inlet!pipe.!When!using!river!pebbles,!it!is!be s t!to !u se !an!inverted!plastic!bucke t!(cut!to!fit)!or!
other!space!filler!to!reduce!the!number!of!pebbles!required!and!to!keep!the!weight!to!a!minimum.!
Load!the!pebbles!slowly!and!carefully!so!you!don’t!damage!the!scupper!wall.!Select!pebbles!that!
are!larger!than!the!pipe!opening.!Make!sure!you!cover!the!water!inlet!pipe!to!prevent!pebbles!
from!falling!into!you r!p lu mbing.!
8)! You!may!clean!the!scupper/fountain!with!a!mild!soap!and!water.!For!tougher!stains,!a!cleanser!
like!Ajax,!Mr.!Clean!Magic!E ra se r!or !sim ila r!p rod u ct s!ca n !be !us ed .!Scuppers!may!be!reGsealed!(if!
necessary)!with!a!solventGbased!concrete!sealant!that!is!available!at!most!home!centers.!Clean!
the!scupper!fully!before!resealing,!following!the!directions!on!the!manufacturer’s!label.!Test!the!
sealant!for!product!compatibility!on!a!small!nonGvisible!area!before!applying!to!visible!areas.!
