4. Charging and Battery Maintenance
Notes:
i) We suggest to use the chargers suppl ied by the bait boat manufac turer. ii) Please make sure that both the boat and Transmitter are switched off
while being charged.
iii) First charge of the new battery to fully charged will take approximately
8 hours.

iv) First charge of the handset to fully charged will take approximately 8
hours.
v) Dry cells (i.e. non-rechargeable batteries) may be used in the
transmitter.
Charging the handset battery:
A. Charge the handset battery with home charger:
1. Place 8 AA batteries in the compartment on the back of the remote control and close the lid.
2. Plug the charger into the wall socket and connect the other end to the charging socket of your transmitter. A red light will light up. If the light on the charger is green, the battery is fully charged.
B. Charge the handset battery with the solar panel charger:
1. Place 8 AA batteries in the compartment on the back of the remote control and close the lid.
2. Connect the plug from the solar panel to the charging socket of your transmi tter .
3. Try to slant the panel 90 degrees to the sun to maximize the panel's solar exposure. Make sure the panel is out of shade.
Note: Sun hitting the panel at a low angle will greatly lower charge efficiency.
Charging the Lead-Acid battery:
A. Charge the Lead-Acid battery with home charger:

1. Connect the white connector of the battery wire to the white connector of the home charger. Plug the charger into the wall socket. A red light will light up.
2. If the light on the charger is green, the battery is fully charged.
B. Charge the Lead-Acid battery with solar panel charger:
1. Connect the white connector of the battery wire to the white connector of the solar panel wire.
2. Try to slant the panel 90 degrees to the sun to maximize the panel's solar exposure. Make sure the panel is out of shade.
Note: Sun hitting the panel at a low angle will greatly lower charge efficiency.
5. Operation:
A. Handset
a. Go forward: push the right hand joystick forward. b. Go reverse: push the right hand joystick backward. c. Turn left: push the right hand joystick up-left. d. E. Sail the boat.
a. Turn on the radio control transmitter (handset). b. Turn on the boat by pressing the on and off waterproof rocker switches. c. Place the boat in the water and sail to the desired destination. NOTE:
*Always turn the handset on first and then the boat. To turn off - turn off the boat and then the handset. This will ensure that you are always in control of the boat. Basically the handset is the brains for the boat; if the battery becomes low you may lose control of the boat. *The boat is steered by increasing or decreasing the right joystick. Pushing the joystick full quickly will put more stress on the electrical component s. By decreasing the speed slightly on the joysticks the boat is still very quick but the battery life will increase.
F. Trim the motor.
It is probable that the boat will not drive absolutely straight as a result of the rotation of water within the pumps, differing loads, winds and water conditions. The motor trim knot on the up-left of the remote control handset has little effect on either motor. Continued correction using the motor trim knot is therefore necessary for straight line running. a. Turn the motor trim knot anticlockwise, the boat will turn left. b. Turn the motor trim knot deasil, the boat will turn right.
G. Turn on/off the lights.
a. To turn the lights on/off by pushing the left joystick forward. b. The two front lights will only work when the boat is driving forward.
H. Return the boat to the bank side
. a. Do not stop or pick up the boat by the aerial, as damage will occur. b. Switch off the boat, then the transmitter.

i) It is important that the transmitter is not turned off before the boat. ii) Continued starting, stopping & reversing of the boat is expensive on
battery life. Smooth operation at all times is recommended in order to ensure a longer running time.
iii) Even though the bait boat is waterproof, condensation may make the
inside of the boat a bit damp during use. It is recommended that the Bait boat be cleaned with a damp cloth after use. It is important that the bait boat and remote control handset be stored in a warm and dry place when not in use, in order to prevent condensation build up.
iv) After use ensures all batteries are fully charged before you pack the boat
away for the next trip. Once every two months, Give them an overnight charge to ensure the battery remains fully charged to prolong their economic life. The boat and transmitter batteries should be stored outside the boat and handset.
v) It is recommended that a bankside or solar charger be used to top up the
battery after every trip. vi) The transmitter should be protected from water at all times. vii) It is advisable not to leave the boat in direct sunlight. Because the boat
is black it absorbs the suns energy and can get extremely hot causing
condensation at night.
