METAL / CURRENT DETECTOR
PMD43 USER’S GUIDE
1) Locate battery cover and turn it counter-clock wise using a coin to open.
2) Insert the battery in the sleeve and close (battery not included).
3) Turn on the device by t ur ning the wheel. Keep turning the wheel until the indicator light comes on and the alar m s ounds. Make sure that no metal or conductive object is near the unit. Turn the wheel in the reverse direction until the light and alarm turn off. The device will then be rea dy to use.
4) If the indicator light does not work, turn the wheel a half turn and slowly turn the adjustment resistor using a screwdriver until the alarm comes on or goes off according to t he desired setting.
5) To detect metal objects, hold the device by the handle and move the device horizontally against the wall. The alarm will sound when there is a metallic object nearby.
6) Electrically cond uctive o bjects w ill be ind icated by a flashing light that will become continuous when the device is close to the conductor.

IMPORTANT
This device’s sensitivity can be adjusted to the exact position of a metallic object or electrical conductor. First, set the wheel. Once the light goes off, turn the wheel a little further to nar r ow t he detection zone.
SAFETY When the device indicates “no current” (no flashing light), check the device by operating it close to a place where you know there is a current before touching the conductor.
CAUTION
Protected conductors will not be detected: only metal will be detected.
NOTES
1) Certain walls contain metallic fire-resistant fibres. This can create an electrical field. You can cancel this effect by putting your hand against the wall.
2) Rubbing or hitting the detector against the wall can create static electricity leading to a read err or .
CURRENT LOSSES
Due to the low level of current used to trigger lighting, some detectors can appear to be faulty. A poorly insulated conductor touching a wet wall will lead to detection of current on t he wall. In this case, the device will indicate a potential danger that should be check ed using a voltmeter.
