WELCOME
Thank you for purchasing AUDIT-BUDDY™ WIFI-BUDDY. This User manual contains information regarding the set-up, scan and
data collection for the AUDIT-BUDDY-Generation 2 product. This product uses a
wireless conguration to stream real-time data from the AUDIT-BUDDY system to
your computer or laptop.
While your AUDIT-BUDDY is designed to be used right-out-of-the-box, please be sure to read the Quick Start Guide and complete the Checklist included in your shipment before you start scanning your facility. USER MANUAL
OVERVIEW
AUDIT-BUDDY is a portable temperature and humidity monitor that records real-time and long-term scans of the data center environment. AUDIT-BUDDY consists of three temperature and
humidity (TH1) Modules, three Wi-Fi adapters, and 1 carbon ber
rod with a weighted base. This as a temporary use application that does not require any installation or permanent set-up. Use to quickly pinpoint and diagnose hot spots or cooling issues.
With AUDIT-BUDDY, users can:
- Spot check without touching the server
- Monitor without any permanent installation or integration
- Identify hot spots or cold spots
- Get rack-level data
- Baseline the environment
- Calculate cooling eciency
- Conrm CFD
- Validate SLA
AUDIT-BUDDY Generation 2, also known as “WIFI-BUDDY,” streams data directly to the PC or Tablet. Users control the WIFI-BUDDY set-up and data collection using a Purkay Labs’ program called WIFI-MATE.

USER MANUAL
CONCEPT
WIFI-BUDDY uses a separate router that creates a private, temporary, static* IP network to connect the Wi-Fi enabled TH1 Module (WIFI Module) to the PC and stream the data.
* The default communication is via static IP. Users who wish to communicate via
their facility network should follow the dynamic IP conguration.

SECURITY
Purkay Labs recommends using a dedicated PC/tablet + router to create a temporary, private, encrypted network to stream data from WIFI-BUDDY
WIFI-BUDDY uses industry standard 802.11 b/g/n 2.4 GHz WiFi
Supports DHCP enabled (Dynamic) and DHCP disabled (Static) IP Conguration [recommended]
• Encrypted secure Wi-Fi authentication via WEP, WPA-PSK (TKIP) and (WPA2PSK (AES)
If using, facility Wi-Fi, system should allow device to device communication. AP isolation prohibited.
PC should allow execution of digitally signed .exe les and no restrictions on
IP assignment.

USER MANUAL
ADAPTER COMMUNICATION
WIFI-BUDDY can communicate via a static IP conguration or dynamic IP conguration.
Static IP Conguration (Recommended)
Purkay Labs strongly recommends using a static IP conguration to create a temporary, private network to stream data. This conguration does not connect to the Inter-
net or the facility Wi-Fi. All Purkay Labs hardware and software, including the Surface,
are shipped, pre-congured, to a static IP conguration. Users must change their PC
or Tablet IP settings.
Dynamic IP Conguration (Advanced)
Users who wish to connect to the Purkay Labs’ router or Facility Wi-Fi network via a
dynamic IP conguration, should follow the special instructions for “Dynamic IP conguration.” Please note that using the dynamic IP congurations may require re-conguring the WIFI-Modules every time you begin a scan.
Please see chapter 3- IP Conguration- for more on setting up your WIFI-BUDDY conguration.

USER MANUAL
BEST PRACTICES
Always check battery strength be-
fore scanning as the wi- set-up consumes a lot of battery.
Check the battery strength on the TH1 Module and adapter before starting scan
DO NOT turn on adapters until scan has started
Turn adapters o after the scan
For scans above 12 hours, use a fresh set of batteries or use the 100-240 VAC
Power Brick adapter.
