PurHome CT-12 & CTD-12 COUNTERTOP WATER FILTER MANUAL
IMPORTANT: INSPECT ALL PARTS AND FILTER CARTRIDGES FOR ANY DAMAGE.
Congratulations on your purchase of the high quality Purity countertop water filter system for you and your family!
The Purity CT-12 and CTD-12 conforms to NSF/ANSI 42 and have been tested and certified by the Water Quality
Association according to NSF/ANSI 42 for effective reduction of aesthetic chlorine, bad taste and odor.
Operating Specifications
Temperature range: 39°F - 100°F (4°C-38°C)
Service Flow: 1 gpm (3.8 L./min.)
Rated Capacity: 12,000 gal. (45,425 L.)
Operating pressure: 20 psi (1.4 bar) to 125 psi (8.6 bar)
Components
CT Filter Unit w/diverter valve
GAC/KDF Cartridge (inside unit)
Ceramic Pre-filter (CT-D only)
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. Remove the bubbler screen (aerator) from the end of your faucet and replace it with the diverter valve of
the Purity CT unit. The diverter valve has a rotating collar for ease of installation. Note the type of threads
your faucet has - if it has threads on the OUTSIDE, the diverter should screw right on; if it has threads on
the INSIDE, you must use the enclosed adapter ring and gasket. If your faucet has non-standard threads,
you may need to purchase a special adapter from your local hardware store (or call your dealer).
2. Place the filter unit in a convenient location with the spout positioned over your sink. The spout is
designed to swivel. Turn on your cold water and divert the water through the filter by pulling out on the
knob on the diverter valve. Water pressure should hold it in the out position. Allow it to run for several
minutes to flush out the normal carbon fines (blackish specs). Initially, the water may contain tiny air
bubbles and taste slightly sweet - this is normal and harmless, and will clear up after flushing. To stop the
flow, simply turn off the cold water at your faucet - the diverter valve knob will return automatically for
normal unfiltered water flow through your kitchen faucet. BE SURE TO RUN ONLY COLD WATER
THROUGH THE UNIT.
3. The white plastic wrench is for use in loosening the filter housing cap from the base
when it is time to replace the filter cartridge. Keep in a safe place. You will need it
for future cartridge changes.

4. Purity CT systems and installation shall comply with applicable state and local regulations
PLEASE NOTE: The Purity CTD-12 double countertop uses a special Ceramic filter independently tested to filter
bacteria and cysts (cryptosporidium, giardia). This filter needs to be installed into the empty housing at the time of
installation with the narrow end at the top. It may be cleaned periodically by scrubbing the surface with a scotchbrite® pad or similar when flow rate is reduced.
IMPORTANT OPERATING NOTES
1. After an extended period of inactivity, allow water to run through the filter for several minutes before drinking.
Otherwise, the taste may be bitter due to excess zinc oxide, which prevents bacterial growth and is harmless.
2. It is important to maintain water in the filter at all times - the KDF media may solidify if the water is drained
from the unit. To prevent water from escaping should you disconnect the filter for travel and cap the spout.
3. Recommended flow rate is one gallon per minute or less. Operating at higher flow rates will not necessarily
damage the unit but will reduce the contaminant removal efficiency.
4. Maximum water pressure is 100 PSI, but it is highly recommended to keep water pressure under 80 PSI.
Maximum operating temperature is 100 F. Protect from freezing.
5. Certain water conditions (high chlorine, hard water) may cause the o-rings and/or return spring in the diverter
valve to deteriorate. The diverter valve can be disassembled for cleaning, or you may purchase a new diverter
valve. Order part number PT-DV.
6. This product is not intended for use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without
adequate disinfection before or after the unit. You may contact us about UV light and chlorine disinfection
systems.
HOW DO I KNOW WHEN TO REPLACE MY FILTER CARTRIDGE? CHLORINE TEST STRIPS.
In virtually all cases, the taste and odor of chlorine will return to municipal water when the cartridge has lost its
effectiveness. While our filter has been tested to effectively reduce aesthetic chlorine for 12,000 gallon of water,
the type and concentration of other contaminants varies widely throughout the country. Therefore, to assure
maximum effectiveness and the best possible water quality, it is suggested that you test the water for chlorination
with chlorine test strips. Fill a cup with water and dip the test strip into the cut. Swish gently in the water for 10
seconds. The pad toward the end will turn blue with the presence of free chlorine; the pad near the handle will
turn green with the presence of total chlorine (chloramines). IT IS IMPORTANT TO IMMEDIATELY ASSESS THE
COLOR AS THE PADS BECOME UNSTABLE AND WILL GIVE A FALSE READING. The GAC/KDF filter
cartridge should be replaced at least every three years. Order part number “CF.
WARRANTY POLICY
Housing: Lifetime warranty, full replacement. Diverter valve: 3 months (90 days). Cartridge: Three years prorated
at $1.81 (or 1/36 of the then-current price) per month of usage on city water only. We may recommend alternative
cartridge if does not last 3 years. Do not use on private well or other untreated water source.
This warranty does not cover damage due to abuse, neglect, freezing, fire or other fortuitous event. No allowance
is made for the consequential damage, labor or expense incurred as a result of a proven defect. Our units are not
warranted against sediment clogging. If you use a private well, or are in an area where there is a high level of
sediment, silt, sand, rust, or other undissolved solids, a sediment prefilter screen (available from your dealer) is
available. Order part number CFA. If the flow rate is significantly reduced, clogging is most likely the cause. You
can try to back-flush the unit by reversing the fittings on the housing to temporarily reverse the water flow.
