PLEASE READ AND SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
WARNINGS:
1. Always unplug or disconnect the air cleaner from power supply before servicing.
2. To reduce the risk of electric shock or injury to persons, do not expose to water or rain, do not use in a
window.
3. Do not use this fan with any solid-state speed control device.
4. It is highly recommended that a licensed electrician or licensed HVAC contractor install units.
INSTALLING YOUR FLUSH MOUNT AIR CLEANER
EQUIPMENT
The FLUSH MOUNT series of air cleaners are equipped with 2 eye bolts, 2 eye lags and industrial hanging wire.
These units can be plugged in or hard wired. Each unit includes enough filters for approximately one (1) year.
SUSPENDED CEILING INSTALLATION:
(NOTE: A system being installed into a drop ceiling that has joists,
steel girder, or exposed beams above can be hung without eye
lags (see step 4). At least one eye lag will be needed if your system
is being installed into a ceiling that is solid above. (see step 5))
Step 1. Remove the system from the shipping container. Remove the
adjustable louver door from inside the system. After you have removed
the adjustable louver door, remove the industrial staples and the HEPA
bar and then slip out the HEPA filter. The HEPA filter is a pleated media
surface with a particle board frame. Removing the HEPA filter will make
the system lighter for installation purposes.
Step 2. On either side of the system there are two mounting holes
where the eye bolts are inserted. It’s easiest to screw the eye bolts into
these mounting holes before mounting into the ceiling. If the area above the drop ceiling is tight for space, then
you may need to put the eye bolts in the mounting holes after you have the system into the drop ceiling.
Step 3. Remove the ceiling tile(s). Depending on your model, the system will fit into either one 2’ x 2’, two 2’ x 2’
or one 2’x 4’ suspended ceiling tiles.
Step 4. A system being installed into a drop ceiling that has joints, steel girders or exposed beams above can
be hung without the eye lags (see step 5). At least one eye lag will be needed if your system is being installed
into a ceiling that is solid above (see step 6).
Step 5. Locate either a joist, girder or beam that is directly above the tile where your system will be installed.
After you have located a joist, girder or beam, drape the industrial hanging wire over the apparatus so that either
side is evenly dispersed. Line up the eye bolts with the hanging wire so they are vertical. Thread one end of the
hanging wire through one of the eye bolts, loop the wire and twist tightly together. Thread the opposite end of
the hanging wire through the opposite eye bolt. Pull the wire tight. The system should be only slightly resting on
the grid work of the drop ceiling. After you have adjusted the weight of the system on the grid work, then loop
the wire and twist tightly together.

Step 6. Locate a stud in the solid ceiling that is directly above the tile where the system will be installed. Fasten
For units with factory installed remote controls: Units are equipped with a remote transmitter and receiver (2 included
key fobs). The key fobs are programmed to work ONLY with the unit they were programmed to. (For multiple units, each
key fob is tagged with a corresponding number also found on the air cleaner.) In order for the remote-control key fob to
work properly, please keep the rocker switch on the unit in the ON position. If your key fob(s) get lost or misplaced, you
can control the air cleaner by using the rocker switch on the air cleaner.
the eye lag into the stud making sure to line up the eye lag with the eye bolts on the system so the hanging wire
will hang vertically. Thread the hanging wire through the eye lag so that either side is evenly dispersed. Thread
one end of the hanging wire through one eye bolt, loop the wire and twist tightly together. Thread the opposite
end of the hanging wire through the opposite eye bolt. Pull the wire tight. The system should be only slightly
resting on the grid work of the drop ceiling. After you have adjusted the weight of the system on the grid work,
then loop the wire and twist tightly.
Step 7. After the system is installed, put your HEPA filter back into the system. Make sure the HEPA filter is
snug. Replace the HEPA bar and the adjustable louver door.
SOLID CEILING INSTALLATION – FM-14 & FM-22
(NOTE: The FM-14 & FM-22 units do not include installation hardware as they are secured right to the
joists.)
Step 1. Remove the system from the shipping container and remove all 3
filters, including HEPA filter and HEPA bar at exit end.
Step 2. After deciding location and direction of air flow, locate the studs
between which the unit will be positioned.
Step 3. Mark out the area where the ceiling will be cut. (FM-22 - Min. 47”
x 22-½” | FM-14 – Min. 47” x 15”)
Step 4. Remove the piece of ceiling that has been cut, and remove all
screws, nails, etc. from the cut-out area.
Step 5. Locate an electrical source from above the cut-out area and plug
in the unit.
Step 6. Remove service door and screws that hold the door frame. Also remove adjustable exit louver.
Step 7. Raise unit into the ceiling. Leave the unit protruding from the ceiling depending on the thickness of
molding that you are using to frame around unit.
Step 8. From inside the unit, affix (screw) unit to studs. Position the screws as close to the top of the studs as
possible. This will make the removal of the adjustable exit louver easier. We suggest the use of 1-½” to 2”
Phillips pan head screws and fender washers for stability. We also suggest that you use 2 screws in each
quadrant for support.
Step 9. Replace service door frame to unit, install Pre-Filter and Carbon Filters, and clip on the service door. At
opposite end of unit, install the HEPA Filter and HEPA bar. Replace the adjustable exit louver.
Step 10. Frame unit in with your choice of material. (See #7)

FILTER MAINTENANCE
Pre-Filters - Each system comes with (12) pre-filters which should be replaced, on average, every 3 to 4 weeks.
PRE-FILTERS CANNOT BE WASHED.
The Pre-Filter removes larger particles such as lint, hair, dust, and pollen. Not only does it remove the larger particles, it also helps
prolong the life of the HEPA filter in the system.
The Pre-Filter is the first filter behind the intake door. Peel away dirty Pre-Filter
and discard. Install the new Pre filter with the white side out. Close door.
Carbon Filters – The PAC-22, PR5.0, PR8.0, PR10.0, FM-2000, FM-14 & FM-22 systems come with (6) carbon filters which
should be replaced, on average, every 2 months.
CARBON FILTERS CANNOT BE WASHED.
Carbon removes odors by adsorbing the odor molecules into the filter. Since activated carbon can only adsorb a certain amount of
molecules, it will begin releasing the trapped molecules, once it is full, back into the air if not properly maintained. Thus, proper
maintenance of the carbon filter is required to keep your environment fresh & clean smelling.
The carbon filter is located behind
the Pre-Filter. Follow the pre-filter changing instructions from Step 1. Remove Carbon Filter, discard and replace with new Carbon
Filter.
Carbon V-Bank Filter – The PR20.0 & PR10.0-V systems comes with (1) 18 lb. carbon V-Bank filter which should be
replaced, on average, every 12 months.
V-BANK FILTERS CANNOT BE WASHED.
The 18-pound Carbon V-Bank Filter is an excellent choice when the need to control tobacco smells is required - including cigar &
cigarette smoke odors, and marijuana odors. Activated Carbon removes odors by adsorbing gases & VOC's into the porous
carbon granules. It can hold many times its weight in odor molecules. However, once carbon becomes "saturated" it loses its
efficiency. Thus, proper maintenance of the carbon filter is required to keep your environment fresh & clean smelling.
The carbon
V-bank filter is located behind the Pre-Filter. Follow the pre-filter changing instructions from Step 1. Remove carbon v-bank filter,
discard and replace with new carbon v-bank filter.
HEPA Filter - Each system comes with (1) HEPA filter which should be replaced once per year.
HEPA FILTERS CANNOT BE WASHED.
The HEPA filter removes the very small particles, such as smoke (tobacco, burning wood, oil, rosin), dust mites, spores, mold
spores, pollen, spray paint, spray paint dust, ashes, cement dust, auto emissions, textile fibers, fiberglass, hairspray, insecticide
dust, copier toner and most viruses just to name a few. The HEPA filter is extremely important for superior air filtration and when
used and maintained properly it will dramatically improve your indoor air quality.
Remove the adjustable louver door. Remove the
HEPA Bar. The HEPA Filter is a pleated media surface with a metal frame. Slip the HEPA Filter out of the system, discard and
replace with new HEPA Filter.
THE HEPA FILTER MUST BE CHANGED ANNUALLY FOR THE LIFETIME WARRANTY TO BE IN EFFECT.
