Puma HRM Watch
Key Features
The watch has the following modes: Time, HRM, Chrono, Timer, and Alarm.

The watch includes a wireless ECG sensor and the watch is equipped with the following indicators:
Heart rate displayed as BPM from 30-240 BPM  Heart rate displayed as % of maximum heart rate  Automatic or Manual heart rate target zone  HR max (age based)  Target zones with visual alarm

The watch LED HR zone indicator is as shown below:
The LED is located between the LCD and push buttons. The watch also has an EL backlight, which is activated by pressing S2.
General Operations
Changing Modes
To change from one mode to the others press S3. For example from Time Mode to HRM mode, as shown on the right, the watch will display the function of the next mode, which is “HRM”. If S3 is not press within 1.5 seconds, the watch will enter the HRM mode.
The different modes are arranged as shown below.
Changing Watch Settings
The watch has a general key operation for the different setting modes such as Time setting mode, HRM setting mode, and etc.
After entering a specific setting mode of the watch, such as Time setting mode, the watch will initially display the first field
flashing as in this case the hour digit. The flashing of characters signifies that it is the current selected field, which the user can be changed to their preference.
To increase/ scroll up press S1 as shown on the right.
To decrease/ scroll down press S4 as shown on the right.
To go to the next field press S3 as shown in the example the hour digit will stop flashing while the minute digit will start flashing. Flashing signifies that the field is active and can be changed.
To save and exit the settings mode press S2.
Time Mode
The watch displays the time of day. The user can view the date by pressing S4.
Also at this mode the user can activate the chime option by pressing S1.
To set the time of day, date, weekday, and format option, press and hold S2 till the hour digit will be flashing as shown on the right.
The different fields of Time setting mode are shown below in their respective order.
HRM Mode
The HRM mode is equipped with an exercise timer with a range of 24 hours. The resolution for the first hour is as shown on the bottom left while the resolution for the suceeding hour is as shown on the bottom right.
The watch will automatically look for a HRM signal as shown on the right.
The watch will continue to search for an HRM signal for about a minute and afterwards the watch display will be as shown on the right.
To reactivate the HRM signal searching, press S1 or S2 or S4.
Once the watch has attained an HRM signal from the chest strap, the watch display will be as shown on the right. The user can will be able to see a flashing solid heart and on the top the of the display show the BPM (Beats per minute).
The watch is capable of computing the calories burned during an exercise and etc. In order for these features to provide accurate data the watch would need some vital information. To encode this information, the user will need to set up the HRM mode of the watch. Press and hold S2, to enter HRM settings mode. The watch display will be as shown on the right.
The different fields of HRM setting mode are shown below in their respective order.
The Age field of the HRM settings modes has a range from 1 to 99. The default age is 30.
The Gender Field default setting is male.
The Level field is a preset setting option for the user HR target zone or Hi/ Max and Lo Min HR. There 3 choices for this field as shown below.
Range of Preset Heart Rate Zone:
Level 1 : 50% - 60% Beginner or Low Level Training Level 2 : 60% - 70% Mid Level Training Level 3 : 75% - 85% High Level Training
Once the user has selected the workout level, the default values in the Hi zone HR and Lo zone HR field will be displayed. However, these values can be manually adjusted to suit the personal preferences.
The Unit field allows selecting the unit of measurement of the weight. The default unit is Kg.
The weight field is where the user input the weight as per selected weight unit.
The last field of the HRM setting mode is the HRM zone alarm. This is an audible reminder of the watch if the heart rate of the user is below the set HR zone or above it. The default setting of this field is off.
If the HRM zone alarm is on or activated, once the below zone indicator is flashing on the watch screen as shown on the right. The user will hear the alarm sound from the watch as “ beep------beep---“.
If the user have reached or exceeded the Hi zone HR, the above zone indicator will be flashing on the watch screen and the user will also hear the alarm sound from the watch as “ beepbeep------beepbeep-----“.
Once HRM mode setting was completed, the user can now start using this feature to gather data and monitor workout.
Attach the chestbelt to the chest and position it in such a way that the conductive strap is in contact with the skin underneath the breast. Tighten the elastic band of the chestbelt to ensure good contact. For dry skin, a small amount of water may apply to the conductive strap and to the area underneath the breast to further improve the conduction between the pads and the skin.
When the watch starts receiving the HRM signal from the chestbelt, the user can start the work out and the exercise timer by pressing S1.
The user can switch to the different views during the work out without stopping the exercise timer. The watch has 8 different views including the current view as shown below.
There are five LED HR indicators corresponding to the different HR zone, while the user monitoring the exercise performance by switching views. For the below example, the Hi zone HR is set to 160Bpm while the Lo zone HR is set to 80 Bpm.
When the Bpm is below 80, as shown on the left, the fifth LED will flash together with the below zone indicator which is shown in the form of a bar with an arrow pointing downwards.
As the Bpm reaches the Lo zone HR, which is 80 Bpm, the fourth and fifth LED will flash simultaneously. The below zone indicator will no longer appear on the watch screen.
As Bpm continue to rise above the Lo zone HR the third, fourth and fifth LED will flash simultaneously.
When the Bpm approaches the Hi zone HR, which is 160 Bpm, the second, third, fourth and fifth LED will flash simultaneously.
Once the Bpm reaches the Hi zone HR or goes beyond the set value, which is 160 Bpm, all the five LEDS will flash with the above zone indicator, which is in a form of a bar with an arrow pointing upward.
The user can switch views by pressing S2. The user can stop the exercise timer at any views by pressing S4. This will also take the user back to the first view.
The user can only clear or reset the exercise timer after it has been stopped. Pressing S4 to stop the exercise timer and then holding S4 for 2 sec to reset the timer to zero.
Chrono Mode
The chrono mode of the watch has a 24 Hr range. The resolution of the first hour is up to 1/100 sec while in the suceeding hours the resolution is up to 1 second, this is the same with the exercise timer in HRM mode. It also has a maximum of 99 Laps. The number of the laps is shown on the bottom portion of the watch display beginning with a letter “L” as shown on the right.
To start the chrono timer press S1. To take a lap press S1 while the chrono timer is running. To stop the chrono timer press S4. To reset the chrono timer to zero, press S4 again.
Once the chrono has reached 24 hours, it will stop automatically and when the user have reached maximum laps, taking another lap will reset the lap counter to 1.
Timer Mode
The timer mode is a count down timer which has a maximum of 99: 59’ 59. The time of day is also shown in top portion of the display with a resolution of up to a minute.
To set the timer press and hold S2 till the watch display is as shown on the right.
The user can set the hour, minute and seconds of the timer as shown below.
After setting the timer, to start the count down, press S1. To stop the timer, press S4. To reset the timer, press S4 when the timer is not running. Once the timer has expired “ TMR” will be flashing on the top portion of the display and an alarm will sound for 10 sec “beep-beep”.
Alarm Mode
The watch has two alarms, which can be individually set and turned on or off.
To select the alarm time 1 or 2 press S4.
To turn on or off the selected alarm time, press S1.
To set the selected alarm time press and hold S2 till the display is as shown on the right.
Battery Replacement
If the watch display is dim, please replace the battery. If the watch does not receive signal from the chest belt, please open the battery hatch and replace the battery of the chest belt from behind.
