Press the Power Button for 1 second to turn on t he SignalScout. The HOME Screen is displaye d.
Select either LEVEL , SCAN, NO ISE, or SETUP.
Select SETUP from the HOME Screen to display t he MAIN SETUP Screen.

ATSC, CATV and NOI SE Power which will be used on the testing screens.

Channel Plans (ATSC & CATV) c an be customized. See the user manual BE­FORE deleting one of the CALIBRA-
TION (CAL) les.
CALIBRATION calibrates the TOUCH­SCREEN, COMPASS, and METER (User). METER (User) allows user cali-
bration but METER/NOISE (Factory) cannot be changed.
FIRMWARE shows version and allows for new updates. Select the HOME but­ton to go bac k to the HOME Screen.
ATSC LEVEL
Press LEVEL from the HOME Screen.
The SignalScout continously scans for ATSC LEVELS on the selecte d Chan­nel and Frequency. There are 2 graphs displayed - the Power Level (Left) an d Signal -to- Nois e Ratio (SN R - Right). These gr aphs show if a signal is detect­ed and signal strengh. The levels are shown numerically under each graph.

TV stations that will require an amplier in the home system.
PRE and POST errors are shown on this screen. PRE are coding errors in the data that are automatic ally corrected by a TV’s er ror correction algo rithm. POST errors c annot be corrected and cause picture problems. The 8 VSB encoding level is displayed.
Select the UP and DOWN ARROW buttons to change the Channel and Frequency or select the white CHANNEL or FREQUENCY button and enter in a specic channel or fre- quency. Select the GREEN ENTER ARROW button to select a specic number or select the “X” to cance l and go bac k to the ATSC L E VE L Screen without saving entered data.
Select the SPEAKER icon to enable an audible tone that is proportional to the received signal strength. (No tone below

Select the Orange CAT V button from the AT SC LE VEL Screen to display the CATV Signal Level and SNR. This screen s etup is identical to the ATSC LEVEL Screen.
The QAM encoding level is displayed. The SignalScout is
64/256 QAM compliant and DOCSIS 3.1 (OFDM) sig nal
level compatible. Select the HOME button to return to the HOME Screen.
SCAN
Select SCAN from th e HOME Screen.
The SignalScout will scan all channels from the selected frequencies in the channel plan entered in SETUP and displays t he power levels for each fre­quency in a single graph.
Select the UP and DOWN ARROW but­tons to scroll through the c hannels/fre­quencies. The selecte d channe l will be displayed as a blue line. The POWER LEVE L (dBm) and TILT (dB) is dis- played for t he selected channel. T ILT is ca lculate d as the
last channel power minus the  rst channel power.
Select the LEARN but ton in the top right hand cor ner to scan all channels and display the num­ber of channels detected.
