Professional Sound Corporation is proud to introduce our new DV SGM1 microphone. This new microphone offers truly professional sound quality in a compact, lightweight package. Designed to offer flat, smooth frequency response and a low self-noise artifact, the new DV SGM1 microphone sets new standards in size, performance and affordability. The DV SGM1 is perfect for all types of professional audio recording in the field. Weighing in at a mere 2.7oz (76.6gm), this hyper-cardioid pick-up pattern, compact shotgun microphone provides excellent off-axis sound rejection, superior frequency response and real world ease of use. It’s ultra light weight design makes it nearly unnoticeable when mounted to a camera. The DV SGM1 is powered from conventional 48PH microphone Power.
The accessories included with the DV SGM1 consist of: A Foam Windscreen that is used to provide the microphone with wind protection in up
to moderate wind conditions. When installed on the microphone, the windscreen creates an area of “dead” air space surrounding the microphone and thus minimizing the effects of wind rumble.
A Koala MiniMax tm High Wind Fur Cover is used to provide extra protection from low frequency wind rumble when using the microphone in higher wind conditions. The product from Koala is used over the existing foam windscreen and provides additional protection. Its synthetic fur is specially designed to “lay over” in the wind and thus create the least wind noise possible.
The DV SGM1 Shock Mount has been designed to compliment the SGM1 microphone. Its special durameter silicone bands have been designed to provide a high degree of reduction in microphone handling noise. These bands effectively isolate the microphone from the camera or boom pole.
The Shock Mount Adapters are supplied for different types of use. One contains a 3/816 threaded block that is used when mounting the shock mount to a boom pole. The other is a specially designed, offset riser, camera shoe adapter. This is used when you wish to mount the shock mount to any video camera.
Instructions for using the Shock Mount:
1. The SGM1 Microphone must be properly threaded through the silicone bands. Please see photo for proper band placement around the microphone:
Note how SGM1 Microphone is threaded through the silicone bands
2. Install the foam windscreen for all outdoor use and for indoor use where airconditioning rumble may be a problem.
3. Install the Koala MiniMax tm High Wind Fur Cover when working outdoors in high wind conditions. To install the Koala MiniMax Cover, carefully pull it over the foam windscreen. Secure with the attached Velcro straps.
4. To change from one adapter to another simply remove the thumbscrew located on the base of the shock mount and replace the adapter with the other style. Be sure to include the rubber washer between the shock mount body and the adapter. This same thumbscrew can be used to tilt the microphone up or down on it’s axis. Simply loosen the thumbscrew and reposition the microphone to your desired position and then re-tighten the thumbscrew.
