Trunk Keys
By using trunk keys, you can seize specific trunk lines (refer to the chapter
Assignment of Internal and External Call Numbers on page 95).
If you configure a new SIP system telephone, the first trunk key will be
automatically configured with the internal call number of the telephone. You
can add further trunk keys for the telephone:
●on the L2 key of the telephone,
●on the programmable keys of the telephone.
For information on programming refer to the online help topic “Programming

You will find operational information in the chapter Making External/Internal Calls on page 107.
Feature Keys
If you configure a new SIP system telephone, some important key functions
are preset. You can programme these functions on other keys for delete the
programmed functions if required.
To use the system features on the telephone sufficiently, the following
programmed key functions should be always available:
●R-key,

Stacking or Linking Functions
You can also save multiple functions to a single feature key (stack or link
functions).
●Stack: The functions stored in a stack are displayed on the telephones
display in a menu which is assigned to a key. You can save destination
numbers as well as functions in a stack. You can then select the desired
destination number or function from the menu.
●Link: Linked functions are executed consecutively after the relevant key is
pressed. This makes it possible to combine complex system telephone
settings on a
link than you can on a single feature key. A concrete setting for a function
can be saved in a link (e.g on/off for “call protection”). This means that a
function in a link has an exactly defined switching function in comparison
with the functioning of a single feature key.

A stack and a link have five free memory locations each.
Special Feature Keys
Busy Keys
Busy keys are feature keys as well. A busy key shows you the busy state of
another internal subscriber. There are two kinds of busy keys:
●Busy Key “Call Number”: This busy key shows the busy status of a single
internal call number. This can be an internal call number of your own
communications system or a call number of a system which can be
reached via the telecommunications system network.
92Programming Keys
Destination keys
●Busy Key “Device”: This busy key monitors all trunk keys configured on a
terminal. If one of these trunk keys is busy, the busy key signals that the
terminal is busy.
Notes
●You can configure up to 50 busy keys per SIP system telephone (includes
telephone and connected expansion modules).
●Busy keys are not supported on the Forum IPhone 5010 SIP system tele-
phone.
●Users cannot prevent authorised users from monitoring their call numbers
via busy keys on their terminals.
●For further information on busy keys and PBX networking, please refer to
the online help and in the “Mounting and Commissioning” guide (Forum
523/524, Forum 525/526, Forum 550/560, Forum 5004/5008/5012)
or “Commissioning and Maintenance” guide (Forum 5500).
For information on programming refer to the online help topic “Programming
a Busy Key of a System Telephone / SIP System Telephone”).
You will find operational information in the chapter Using Busy Keys on
page 137.
Status Keys
If your communications system has been extended via a third-party
programme, you can operate individual functions of this programme via what
are referred to as the status keys of your system telephone. A status key is
thus a kind of special feature key.
For programming a status key, you need a key ID designated for controlling
programme functions. For details refer to the documentation of the
programme. While programming the status key, you need to enter this key ID
in the
CSTA key input box.
Destination keys
On a destination key, you store an (internal or external) call number. You can
dial call numbers assigned to keys by simply pressing the relevant key.
Please observe the following when entering an external call number:
Programming Keys93
Direct-call Keys
●Enter the call number directly if external line seizure is automatic.
●If external line seizure is manual, you must first key in the external line
seizure code digit (the default setting is 0).
For information on programming refer to the online help topic “Programming
Destination Keys of a SIP System Telephone”).
You will find operational information in the chapter Using Destination Keys to Make Calls on page 110.
Direct-call Keys
Only outgoing calls can be made with a direct-call key; they are signalled to
all terminals with the same number programmed to a trunk key. Calls via a
direct-call key are signalled to the destination terminal even if that terminal
has been programmed with a substitution function or call protection. If the
destination terminal has been configured for call diversion, the direct call is
not diverted.
For information on programming refer to the online help topic “Programming
Direct-call Keys of a SIP System Telephone”).

Blocked/Unblocked Call Numbers
Your telephone can be blocked from dialling all or selected external numbers.
Emergency numbers can be entered in a special list, irrespective of your trunk
line access rights, and so always be dialled. Consult your system administrator
for details.
Information for the system administrator
Blocked and unblocked call numbers are managed in the Configurator >
Te l e p h o n y
> Lists menu.
Transmission of Call Numbers
There are different features which allow or prevent the transmission of
(external) call numbers between subscribers.
“CLIP” feature
“CLIP” is an abbreviation for “Calling Line Identification Presentation”. The
caller’s call number (if transmitted) is displayed. If this number is also stored in
your telephone book, the caller’s name is displayed.
“CLIP no screening” feature
Using “CLIP no screening” outgoing connections instead of sending the real
call number of the caller, send another call number. Thus, instead of being
shown your number, the subscriber you have called is shown, for example, a
service call number. The feature “CLIP no screening” must be enabled by the
network provider and activated in the system configuration by the system
administrator. When you receive an external call where the caller indicates a
different number than the one actually being transmitted, your display will
show a “?” next to the call number. If the indicated call number is saved as a
phone book entry, as usual, the name will be shown along with a question
mark.
Note:Display of the question mark “?” is the system default. The
system administrator can switch off this default setting in the
web configurator with the

Call for a Virtual Number (TeleSecretary)
In the Forum 500 / Forum 5000 communications system, numbers can be
configured to which no telephone and no subscriber are assigned (virtual
numbers). The system administrator can forward a virtual number to another
internal number, the number of your telephone for example.
A forwarded call is signalled on the corresponding call key of your telephone.
For informational purposes the virtual number to which the call was originally
made is shown. The system administrator can also assign the virtual number a
name. If this has been done, the name is shown on the display of your
telephone.
Calls in the Call Waiting Queue
The system administrator can configure and activate a call waiting queue
especially for your telephone in the Forum
communications system. While you are making a call, new calls can be
queued. These callers first hear an announcement (if the system
administrator has preset an announcement) and then the ring tone. The
number of calls permitted in the call waiting queue is set by the system
administrator during system configuration, 5
number is reached, further callers hear the busy tone. The calls in the queue
are put through in order of priority (baby calls, door calls, VIP calls, other
internal and external calls), irrespective of the order in which they came in.

set by the network provider. In most European countries this is usually three

General Functions
Your telephone can have a call waiting queue even if it belongs to a subscriber
group, where it simultaneously affects call forwarding.

waiting queues are used for each number.
