1.2 - Recommendations

The marking program PW02 and the P3000 machine are designed for indent marking. The manufacturer is not
responsible for the quality of the work, or for any damage resulting from improper use of the machine, should it
be used for any purpose other than marking.

2 - Software presentation

This software will permit you to :

1) save the marking files that you have created with your P3000 machine in a PC,

2) download the files saved in a PC from a PC to the P3000 machine.

2.1 - Contents of the software package

- 2 Installation diskettes,

- 1 RS232 cable 9F-9F,

- 1 Operation manual.

2.2 - System Requirements

Marking machine P3000 Ver 2.3 or greater

Operating system:

Type : PC 486 DX 33

RAM: 8 Mb

Hard Disk: 160 Mb

Graphics adaptor: VGA, 16 colors, 640x480

Serial port: N° 1, 2, 3, 4

Diskette drive: 3"1/2 - 1,44 megabytes

2.3 - Placement of the Protection Key

Place the electronic protection key in the computer’s parallel port (refer to your PC’s manual). One printer may be
connected to this protection key. However, certain printers must be turned on in order for the program to detect the
protection key.

2.4 - Installing the software

To install the PW02 in Windows 95, 98, 2000, NT:

- Insert Diskette 1 into the A: drive.

- Click on "Start " then click on "Run".

1) Type "a:setup", then click on "OK".

2) When the following screen appears, click on "OK".

3) Click on the "Install" button to install the default directory - C:\Program Files\PW02.

If it is necessary to install it in a different directory, click "Change Directory" and enter the desired directory, then
click on "Install".

Once the installation is complete, click on "OK".

2.5 - Connecting the machine

Connect one end of the RS232 cable to the P3000 as shown, connect the other end to the serial port on the PC.

Once the RS232 cable is connected, turn the machine on. Select the 4th icon on the screen and press "Enter" with
the P3000 machine’s arrow keys.

3 - Using the software

3.1 - Running the PW02

Click on the "PW02" icon to launch the software. If the program cannot be launched, set your color palette in the
setting of the display properties on High Color (24 bit) or less.

The main PW02 screen will appear ".

This will show the P3000
configuration and the configuration
of the PC.

This will permit you to choose the
COM port on your PC.
(The default is COM1)

This will permit you to choose the language used by the
software.

3.2 - Downloading files- from P3000 to PC

Choose a transfer direction by
clicking on the appropriate
"Radial" button.

This is the screen from which the files will
be transfered (from the P3000 to the PC).

Use the interface at the bottom left of the
screen to select the marking file.

Select the file to be transfered by clicking
on it.

Press the "CTRL" key to select several
files at the same time; or click on "Transfer
all" to save all the files that are in the
P3000.

Once you have clicked on "Transfer", the screen below will appear.

3.3 - Downloading files- from PC to P3000

A warning signal will appear if the file number already exists.

After selecting the files, click on "Trans fer" to start the transfer.

The files will be transfered from this screen

Use the interface at the top left of the screen
to select a location in which to store the
marking files.

Select the file to be transfered by clicking
on it.

Press the "CTRL" key to select several files
at the same time.

After having selected the files. click on
"Transfer" to start the downloading.

The screen below will appear if the name of the file cannot be interpreted as a three digit number, or if the number
already exists in the machine.

Enter a number between 0 and 999.
This will give a number to the file to
be downloaded.

Enter a "Comment" about the file.

3.4 - Possible error messages

Several different verifications could need to be made in the case of this

error message :

A- In the first place, make sure that the P3000 is turned on and in

Communication Mode. (See instructions.)

B- Then, be sure the cable is correctly connected between the P3000

and the PC.

C- Next, verify which COM port is being used on the PC ( contact your

system administrator for help if necessary ).COM1 is the default
COM port. If the PC is using a different COM port, click on
"Cancel", then, click on "COM port" on the main screen, and select
the valid port by clicking on it.

D- This message may also appear if a modem or other device is

connected to COM1. If this is the case, follow the instructions in
Step C to select a valid COM port.

• This message indicates that it is necessary to select the
fourth icon on the screen of the P3000, then press
"Enter".

• This error indicates
that the memory in
the P3000 is full.

It is therefore necessary to delete some files or logos before adding others. See the P3000 manual for detailed
instructions.
