3 Preparing for Operation
3.1 Unpacking the instrument
Packing m aterial
We suggest that you keep the original packin g m aterial. Using the original packing material is your guarant ee of protecting t he instrument du ring transit.
Checkin g the package cont ents
The stand ard accessorie s of are as follows:
Main unit
SC, ST interchangeable connector
Quick Use r Guide
Carryin g Bag AC/DC ada pter Micro USB c able
2 AA Ni-MH bateries
Checkin g for damage in tran sit
After unpacking the instrument, check to see whether it was dam aged in transit. This is particularly like ly if the outer casing is clearly d amaged . If t here i s dama ge, do not attempt to operate the instrument or t o repair it without auth orization. Doing so can caus e furth er dama ge and you may lose you r warra nty qualification.

3.2 Discharged batteries
There is a battery indic ator on the screen to show t he remain ing charg e. Ther e are four possibilities the indicator may show, full, with 2 blac ks, with 1 black and empty. If an empty battery indicator flashes it means the p ower is almost out, and tha t is when you should recharge the batteries b y connec t the AC adapter w ith the instru ment. If the discharg ed batt eries get to their lim itatio ns afte r long-time use, please replace it with a new one. To replace the b atteri es, please remove the batter y plate on the back of instru ment wit h a screwd river.
When the battery charge is extremely low to supply the necessary power, the instru ment will automatically switch off.
Note: 1 The AC indicator is not displayed when power is supplied by battery. 2 To elim inate the p ossibility of acid l eakage, p lease take o ut the battery if the unit i s n ot used for
a long time.

3.3 AC operation
If the instru ment is mainly used at one lo cation , e.g. in a laboratory or tes t depa rtment, the AC adapter can be used to power it instead of ba tterie s. Th ere is a DC inp ut jack on the bottom of the instrum ent casing into which the output cable of the AC adapter is pl ugged. And wh en the AC adapte r i s plugged in, the AC Indicator on the LCD wi ll be disp layed.
Note:
1 Power is s upplie d by th e AC ada pter even if battery is fitted. An d the b attery indicator is not displayed on the scre en when AC adapter is plugged. 2 Make sur e that th e operating voltage of the AC Adapter / Charger is the same a s the loc al AC line voltage.
