& face shield; chemical resistant gloves, splash
apron and boots. Safety shower& eye wash
fountain should be nearby.
Potential Routes of Exposure – CONCENTRATE
Inhalation: Fumes from spills can cause severe irritation and chemical burns to the nose,
throat, and lungs. Very little hazard from properly contained and stored solution.
Ingestion: Causes irritation of membranes of mouth, throat; stomach pain and ulceration.
Skin Contact: Corrosive, can cause severe skin and eye irritation or chemical burns to open
skin.
Eye Contact: Severe irritant, corrosive, can severely burn eyes.
Chronic Exposure: A constant irritant to the eyes and throat and mucous membranes. Low
potential for sensitization after exaggerated exposure to damaged skin.
Aggravation of Pre-existing Conditions: No medical conditions are known to be
aggravated by exposure.
Carcinogenicity: No LD50/LC50 information found relating to normal routes of occupational
exposure. Investigated as a tumorigen and mutagen.
4. EMERGENCY & FIRST AID PROCEDURES
Inhalation: Move person to fresh air; if person is not breathing, call 911, then give artificial respiration, preferably mouth-to-mouth, if possible.
Have product label with you, then call a poison control center or doctor for further treatment advice.
If Swallowed: Have person sip a glass of water if able to swallow. Do not induce vomiting unless told to do so by the poison control center or
doctor. Do not give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
Skin Contact: Take off any contaminated clothing; rinse skin with plenty of water for 15-20 minutes.
Eye Contact: Hold eye open and rinse slowly and gently with water for 15-20 minutes; remove any contact lenses, if present, after the first 5
minutes, then continue rinsing the eye.
5. FIRE & EXPLOSION DATA
Flash Point: N/A
Fire: Not considered to be a fire hazard. Substance releases oxygen when heated, which may increase the severity of an existing fire.
Explosion: This solution is not considered to be an explosion hazard.
Fire Extinguishing Media: Flood with water or carbon dioxide (CO2).
Special Information: Use NIOSH approved respirator with acid-type canister or use self-contained breathing apparatus. Strong oxidizer.
Contact with combustibles may promote combustion. Acid and heat accelerate decomposition. Decomposition products may include chlorine.
6. SPILL OR LEAK PROCEDURES
In the event of a transportation emergency, call CHEMTREC 800-424-9300. If material is released or spilled, cleanup personnel must wear
protective equipment (See section 8) Contain in diked area. Neutralize with sodium bisulfite or ferrous salt solutions. Place neutralized material
in DOT specified approved container (s). Flush area with large amounts of water. Comply with all Federal, State & local reporting requirements.
